It shields from the sun. However, it does not allow for air circulation, and the heat really builds up during a walk when the weather is hot.

These hats just aren't that "cute". No matter how you cut it. They are functional, but not particularly flattering for women.

I actually bought 2 of these hats because the first one is just too tight on my head. The brim on the small hat fits my face and frame better and looks better than the medium I bought, but the small creates indentations in my forehead for hours! I like this hat for yard work as it creates a lot of shade on my face and neck, but I would not wear it around town as the medium is just a bit too big and bulky but the small creates lines on my forehead.

Surprisingly It was a little bigger for my huge head. Then I found it was also crooked somehow...don't feel comfortable in it at all. And the design wise, I have to say that it sounds like a good idea but didn't work out for some reason.

great looking hat- great sun protection- need to fix design so hat doesn't blow off with slightest breeze!

I love how wide the brim is but find myself reaching for this hat less and less (have 2 of them). First, this hat runs small and it will leave an indentation in your forehead that seems to last forever (a good hour or so). I thought I was losing my mind over the hat indentation/doing something wrong, but I see other reviews mention the same issue. Also, it's breathability is poor. I get hotter wearing this than similar sun hats with ventilation. Last thing is the brim can get pretty misshapen and is hard to get back in to a more symmetrical flat shape. My hope is a redesign to get the sizing right, more breathability, and a similar selection of colors. I love the purple colors this hat has come in over the years.

Blows up in the wind. Will not buy again and cannot use for backpacking. Will have to try another model.

My hat came in and doesn’t work and now I’m back in Canada and would be so hectic to return

I feel I can better tolerate the Florida heat with this on.

Much to large!!! Sent this back at it cost me $12.50 at the Post Office with the label that Outdoor Research emailed me. Will not order from them again!

Unfortunately, the shipping and return cost me more than the hat; so, very disappointing. I would definitely look for a hat that has free shipping and return.
