I bought 2 prs of 574s in my usual size/width - 11.5/X-wide. When they came, both prs were way too narrow (i.e. tight) and I had to return them. I found out that width terminology had apparently changed. I now need a width of 6E, which isn't available in 574s. So, I'm subsequently no longer able to wear the style of sneakers I've been wearing for over 20 years. Huge disappointment!! I'd bet there is a huge market out there for people with wide feet. I just wish New Balance would realize that!

I still have a pair of my old 574s. These are terrible in comparison. They are extremely narrow (even though I ordered in 2E) and they are definitely smaller in size as well. As others have said, it's obvious how "cheap" the quality is as soon as you put them on. The reviews seem so mixed but my guess is that those who give this a thumbs up were never fortunate enough to experience the original 574 and it's true awesomeness. Definitely returned and unfortunately, I don't think I'll be purchasing any New Balance shoes again.

The shoe arrived and I first noticed how hard the sole of the shoe was. I love NB and have many pairs however this pair felt cheap and the sole did not provide any cushion while walking. Like the all black colour way but I won't buy again.

I believe I would have liked the shoes, but I sent them back. I ordered these shoes from my phone. I hit he size (12) then the width (W), then placed my order. Did not notice when I clicked on order that the size changed to 12 D. When I received email to confirm order I noticed the size had changednfrom what I entered. Your site should have the wide "X ed" to prevent a customer from selecting this option. I called immediately to customer service, but order had already processed. I've been ordering NB for years. Will be selecting 993 next.

I have worn these very sparingly and they already have a hole in the front. The soles look brand new and my toe is hanging our the front. Very dissatisfied. Love the look, hate the quality.

The shoes I received differ from the picture. Instead of a top eyelet cut through the shoe, there was a little loop of string. You thread the shoelace through that loop. Except that loop is not very sturdy and it broke shortly after I bought the shoes. So, an expensive pair of athletic shoes lasted 2 months. Not happy.

These shoes should trigger a class action lawsuit - these are the slipperiest shoes ever. You can’t hit water because you will fly. Worst ever; great looking but not functional at all.

Bought the black and white ones twice and returned twice. The black on the suede is really dark blue which sucks because I FN love these shoes. Just have to wait till they are in stock at the store.

I have been buying NB since 1986 and have never had a pair fall apart in less than a month. The sole separated from the upper after two weeks, I called and got transferred to one person after another with no resolution, my email went unanswered. I ended up recycling the pair and bought another brand. First time since 1986 that I purchased running shoes from another brand, very disappointing.

I had been wearing this model for exactly 17 years and recently the tongue changed, as mentioned in other reviews. These shoes used to have a very cushioned tongue and the shoe itself softened over time making them very comfortable. The newer iterations of this model seem stiffer, run smaller with a flatter toe box, and have a thin uncomfortable tongue. Not sure why the changes were made. I will stick with my 990's. The 990 is more expensive but you get what you pay for.

For years, I used NB sneakers of size 8-D. This time when I ordered they send me a 8-D, but shoe is smaller. What a stupid mistake. You will loose many customers.

Cannot give a fair review of product since it arrived damaged and just leaving this review as a warning to other shoppers that new balance may send you a damaged shoe.

This shoe was bought with a NB credit that was given to replace another pair of shoes that started falling apart after 2 months of wear. These 574 Core shoes just don't seem to be the 12D size they claim. They are too narrow, especially at the toe, to the point that after 2 days of wearing them I had developed a corn on the inside of one toe and rubbed a giant blister on the inside of a big toe. I've owned numerous New Balance shoes over the years and these are absolutely the most uncomfortable I've ever had.

Nice looking sneaker but I ordered a 4E width and it was definitely not a 4E.

These New Balance wore out faster than any other pair of New Balance I've bought over the last 20 years. There is also an annoying squeak in the sole in one shoe as I walk. I cannot get rid of the squeak. Its very annoying.
I'd also recommend:

Love the shoe I will not wear anything else but it amazes me that they do not have any wide sizes available for size 12-16. They have hundred of horrible looking shoes on this website that they waste time making and it leaves their best shoe without the sizes that people want. New Balance I was ready to order 3 pairs but keep focusing on making stuff no one wants.

I've owned many pairs of NB shoes over the years and these were the worst! Minimal support, didn't gel with my feet at all. Hurt my arches and balls of my feet to the point where I couldn't walk without pain at the end of the day.

These are marked 10EE (wide) but there is no way they are Wide. I compared them to my current New Balance 10EE's and these are nearly a 1/2" narrower! I am hearing from other people that they have seen a distinct "narrowing" of all New Balance shoes. What's up, NB? Used to love you!

I had to return this pair of shoes. I ordered the same size as the other shoe i used to wear but were discontinued. These were way to small so am gonna try a bigger size if available.. We will see, this is why i don't like ordering on line.

I used to love these, but the quality is way down and you can fell every blade of grass that you walk on. Definitely disappointed with New Balance on these shoes.

I started wearing these shoes about 3 months ago and have decided I'm putting them back in the box. I've worn them primarily for walking and they've been uncomfortable from the start. I originally thought they just needed breaking-in, but that hasn't been the case. The arch support isn't as good as other N-B shoes I've had, and the leather (?) sides are very stiff. I'm retiring these and going back to my older N-B's.

This shoe is not what it once was. Material is flimsy and sole very thin.I have had about 10 pair and each gets a little worse. Time for me to switch. Too bad because it was once a great shoe.

This is the second pair of new balance that have done this. Please fix the tongue back to the way it was!! When you put your foot inside, the tongue folds over and is very uncomfortable to wear w/out sticking your hand inside your shoe to straighten it out.

I have been a New Balance customer most of my life. I have pretty wide feet, so NB is often my only option, and they've rarely let me down. I've always worn a size 10.5, 4 E, and have always been able to depend on that size from NB fitting perfectly. Imagine my surprise when I got these 574 Cores delivered today and discovered that they are somehow simultaneously too large AND too small. That is to say that they are so narrow that I would have thought they were a medium width. I couldn't even cram my feet in them if i tried. Yet they are also much longer than any past 10.5 I've ordered. I'd say they're at least a good 1-1.5 inches longer overall. I have noticed a decline in NB's quality over the past couple years, but this is a whole new level. Seriously wondering if I should even bother giving them another chance at this point.
