Daily walker and gym shoe. My go to shoe for most occasions. I ordered blue suede, and got a combination of suede and other material. Wash tag can' put in the wash machine. I ordered by phone.

As someone who has worn 574s for a long time, I had a hard time believing other reviews talking about the redesigned version of this shoe, so I bought a pair to try. I don't know why I was surprised, but everything others have said is true, the shoe had been cost reduced, and not in any ways I appreciate. The first thing I noticed was that the tongue now has almost no padding in it, it's think enough that you can feel the laces. The tongue also seems to be attached to the shoe with a very small amount of stitching, which meant that the edges of the tongue tended to curl under when I put the shoes on, creating an annoyance which took too much fiddling to correct. I also think the soles have been thinned out. I obviously don't have a new pair of the old design to compare to, but it felt like the knobs on the soles are much shorter than they used to be. Sadly, I did not find this new version to be anywhere near as comfortable as the old one, so I have returned the shoes and will continue my search for some comfortable and attractive shoes to wear.

I've am a loyal NB customer. I've only bought NB for about 25 years. My rating is average today because sizing was not good. I have always bought 10 extra wide, and even though this was supposedly 10 extra wide - it was too short and narrow. I compared it to my last NB purchase and it was way off. Still a solid NB fan, but perhaps have more information on variance in sizing between different shoe styles.

I like 574 NB shoes in general but these were a little small and I found the Nimbus Cloud color lighter and less appealing than it appeared in the advertising.

You were out of the wide width. I ordered the regular width and they were to small. I also looked at other styles and it seems like you are out of the wide width in those as well. Also the representative couldn't tell me when they would be available. So I guess I have to look elsewhere.

Definitely not 4E! I got excited when these popped up on my search for 4e sneakers. I was worried when I received them and they said wide and not extra wide. Disappointed when I tried them on and they were way to narrow. I'm sure they are great for most but if you wear/need 4e width save your time and money.

Good sneakers, but the real color of the sneakers (Burgundy) is different from those on the site. Sneakers are made in China, and there is a specific smell.

When I was younger, I got caught in the traditional shoe trap: I bought the shoe that I thought looked best and not the one that fit the best. I got so wrapped up in convincing myself the shoe would fit eventually that I talked myself into buying shoes that didn't fit just because I thought it looked great. I've now got two kids, a mortgage, and at least some sense of financial discipline, yet I found myself a few weeks ago in the midst of a teenage lust-fest over these NB Classics. I was looking for a casual shoe I could wear to a tech office and also for weekend trips to Home Depot*. And so I became enamored with these shoes -- they were the perfect look for what I wanted and I could finally go back to a wide shoe that NB specializes in. Except when my size 11s, EE were delivered and I tried them on, they kept slipping in the back. Oh well, no problem, just send them back and order the 10.5; maybe NB sizes are larger on wide shoes (since I had also purchased the regular width shoes and those were way too narrow). The 10.5s arrive and they're definitely too small, but they also slip in the back. Maybe these internet socks I bought slip on this fabric? I don't know, but these shoes definitely don't fit. I send the 10.5s back (thanks, Zappos!) and keep looking and I find ... nothing; I cannot find one shoe I like that fits the need in this scenario. So I'm wearing the 11s again and they constantly slip in the back; they don't feel comfortable and secure on my foot but they don't hurt. It's a very weird feeling and I don't love them, but they look like exactly what I wanted. I don't know if this is an issue because they're the EEs or because I wear Bombas socks, but keep in mind when you're buying them in case they slip in the back. *- living in the suburbs with two kids is the height of excitement.

The Navy 574 looks very good in person, but fits a little small lengthwise. It's not the most comfortable shoe, I've had to put an insole in if I'm wearing it for more than an hour

Whenever I shop for shoes on the NB app, I always sort by size and width so I was really excited when the 574 came under 4E. The shoes are VERY comfortable and I can see why everyone loves them. However, the sole is in no way, shape, or form a 4E. It's still a great shoe for casual wearing (running errands, etc.), but I wouldn't wear if I know I'm going to be on my feet all day.

I don't agree with other reviews that say these are tighter in the toe box. They fit the same as the always have. I do agree though these have changed since my last purchase of 574s two years ago. I believe the issue is the insole. The shoe feels less supportive. The insole is now squishy and this less supportive of the arch. I tend to walk on the inside of my heels and that is exasperated by this shoe. My foot slides off the sole. I have this problem in Sauconys which is why I switched to New Balance. I will be trying a new insole in these. If that works I'll be switching back to Saucony Jazz Low Pro using an insert. They cost $30 less and look tight.

These shoes are soooo cute that I was so sad that they didn't work for me, because the 7 EE is not big or wide enough. I wanted to order the wider width, and 1/2 size up, but it's not available in the classic blue, which is an amazing, beautiful blue. They are not very padded, and not as supportive as I need for working in retail on a concrete floor all day (but would probably work perfectly for someone who does not have bunions, Morton's Neuroma, and/or needs to wear custom orthotics). Because they're so cute, I'd be willing to wear them for short periods if I could find the size I needed in the color I wanted. Very sad.
I'd also recommend:
Brooks, SAS, Propet

I love the 574, but this shoe does not follow standard sizing, and even the same sizes are different depending on color. I am a 10.5 Wide in nearly every other shoe, but the 574 in this size fit too short by 1/2 a size, and FAR too narrow. I tried this shoe in a few different colors, and all fit differently, despite being the same size - I was told by someone at New Balance that the different shoe dyes make the shoes fit differently (the darker dyes fit wider, the lighter dyes fit tighter). Not sure why that is. “Wide” in this shoe fit like a regular, and I would have to assume that a “regular” fits like a narrow. I had to get the Extra Wide size for it to fit appropriately. At one point, I had a 10.5 Extra Wide in two different colors, and they even visually looked different. Zappos was VERY helpful in assisting with this process that New Balances “creative” sizing made difficult. Best advice: get the Extra Wide if you’re usually a Wide.

loved the shoes (color, style, comfort all great), but sizing was way off for these so I had to return. i already ordered a half-size up from normal and still had my toes crunched at the end of the toe box. these are at least 1/2 - 1 full size off of what's marked. fingers crossed that the next size up works once they're available on the site again!

New Balance running shoes seem consistently small. I am normally an 8 1/2, I have learned to order a 9 from them. But even so, the 9's still feel tight and somewhat uncomfortable. What's the problem?

I love the look of the redesigned 574 and have purchased multiple pairs, all in my standard size of 11.5 D. However, I have noticed a drastic difference in fit between shoes manufactured in different locations. The two pairs I have from the Indonesia factory fit much narrower, while the pair from the China factory is much looser. Unfortunately, due to the inconsistency in sizing it might be best to purchase these in person at a store rather than gamble on which factory they originated from.

If you're like me and you need to replace standard insoles of shoes almost all the time, buy the 574s a half size up to accommodate that. I got these in size 6 EE and the width is about right but the length is surprisingly short so my big toes begin hurting a few hours into standing in these. I am fairly certain I have about a size 6 foot and these shoes with insole replacements are too cramped in the toe area. Wish I would've known that these run too short in length. Think they'll do some damage to my feet in the long run but can't return them now.

I have older pairs of 574 classics and loved them as they are some of my favorite most comfortable sneakers I have owned especially my old gold classic 574 that I got many complements on, I have looked for a new pair like them for a long time but have not found them yet. Thanks

The shoes looked like they were bright yellow when advertised but actually were a mustard color. I returned them the next day and was charged a restocking fee

Good looking shoe, unfortunately they run smaller than any other brand I've worn. I've worn 9.5 - 10 max most of my life. I got these in 10, thinking i was erring on the larger side but looks like I would need 10.5, as my toe is constantly running into the toe box. Only realized after a week of wear. And unfortunately discarded the box so looks like i'm stuck with these oh-so-slightly-too-small shoes.

I have these and another pair. Both 574s. This particular version is at least a full size too small. What a bummer!

I've had half a dozen 574s over last couple of years and these didn't fit at all. Way too tight, not sure why they would change the sizing like this.
