I have been using these shorts for a few years now although not so long that I can comment on how the design has evolved. I do like them a lot but agree there is a weird sizing thing that happens between M & L. I find M just a little snug in the butt and then L is way too big. However, their design is solid and the material awesome for running in hotter weather. There's definitely room for improvement with the pockets. On one hand, there's plenty of them and they're sized perfectly for gel packs or individual keys. But, they're all remarkably small even though there is plenty of real estate to make them bigger. My biggest peeve is the one built into the liner, presumably for cell phones, would be perfect if you were still sporting the old Motorola Razr. However, it's 2020 and phones have gotten significantly bigger. Somebody on the design teams need to acknowledge that and expand the pocket. Again, there's plenty of space to do so!

I give 4 stars because they are lower then I'm used to on the waist, I think it should be at least an inch and a half higher so it doesn't come close to exposing your butt. I bought the Sherpa 7 specifically for the phone carrier it has, it does not fit my iPhone 7 "Plus" with my "case" around it, I had to take off the "case" so it could fit. I think the pocket is best for iPhones that aren't "Plus" size.

Sizing was a tad big. Possibly should have gotten a medium. I have a size 32 waist.

Fit great and feel good on the runs. Phone stayed in liner with min movement compared to cheaper shorts I've tried.

Have several pairs of these shorts and love them... just wish you offered more colors and kept them in stock.

Pretty much the most comfortable running shorts I've ever owned. The longer style built-in liner is light weight and effective in keeping down chaffing. Great shorts!

I had 1 pair of 2-1 shorts like these and wanted to find some more, which ended up not being an easy search. Wouldn't you know the place that makes the best shoes also makes the best shorts. Very supportive and it's very convenient that when things shift around down there you can adjust one piece of clothing and keep running. The 7 in models are still cool enough without scaring the neighbors and don't get too heavy even when sopping wet in the Florida humidity. My only minor comment/complaint is that the drawstrings are a little thin and if you tie them really tight like I do they can be hard to untie. Other than that I am very happy have found these. Brooks, please keep making these shorts!

I have two pairs of these shorts because I like them so much and I plan on getting more. They are my go to shirts for long runs. The gel pockets work great and I like the 7" length.

Great fit, lightweight, and phone pocket is ideally placed. Don't even know it's there while you're running.

Great shorts! Unbelievable fit. Stays put without restricting movement while running on the roads or trail.

These are my favorite shorts for running on the trails of California with small pockets to carry small items, keys, energy gels and I very love the pocket for the cellphone on the . Perfect fit and the feel is simply awesome. They are very well made, very light, comfortable and they dry quickly.

Like these shorts as they are very comfortable and lightweight. Great for Texas summer heat.

Bought for my almost 13yo son for XC practice. Happy to find running shorts in a size that works for a pre-teen/teen. He's 5'4" and 107lbs and we went with the men's XS. The pockets are good for his phone and keys.

Light, comfortable, and holds my phone tight to my leg. No flapping around, no concerns its going to hit the pavement. Love 'em.

I continually get suckered into buying/trying different running shorts when they go on sale and ALWAYS end up back with Brooks. These are my go to running shorts.

This was my first pair of shorts designed for running. Been using Nike basketball shorts for all my runs/races and I'm thrilled I've switched. These shorts are light, comfortable, breethable, and hold everything I need on my runs. I was also thrilled with how well the phone pocket worked, stayed snug and secure for the entire run. No more armband for me! I've already ordered a few more pairs and it's safe to say the basketball shorts are now for lounging around the house.

Very light and fits comfortably. There is a full liner which is more durable than the previous liner brooks used in the 7inch Sherpa. They wear well. Pockets are small and these shorts are not made for carrying much. A go to pair of running or gym shorts that are as light and comfortable as the shortest running shorts but provide a little extra length.
