Loved the original Sherpa shorts. I bought 3 medium pairs a few years ago and was excited to add a few more to the rotation. Unfortunately, for the two medium-sized pairs I recently purchased, the sizing is way off. The inner lining is too tight and the waistband is loose. Length is still okay. Love the original shorts - my favorite running shorts. I wish they didn't change the sizing.

Good except the main reason I'm buying another pair of shorts is to have a pocket to hold my phone. Very comfortable, stretchy all around, lightweight, good liner, and true to size; but the phone pocket doesn't work. I was very excited and went on my run this morning, put my phone in the pocket on my thigh and jogged across the street and phone came right out...."did I put it all the way in there?" Tried again, this time on the grass, and within 10 yards, the phone was on the ground again. Did my run with phone in hand :( Returning these ASAP

Strange. I have a size medium Sherpa from a few years ago, that i still wear weekly, but these are way to0 small. Like, I absolutely cant even get them on. They appear to have strunk by more than a whole size over the past year. Will be returning..

I thought the reviews might be exaggerating the decline in quality from the old shorts so I ordered them anyway. The materials feels cheaper and the lining is not as stretchy, a little too tight in the crotch. The old shorts were my favorite running shorts and I just wish I could buy more pairs.

I thought the reviews might be over exaggerating the decline in quality of these shorts from previous models so I ordered them anyway to see for myself. The materials feel cheaper and the lining is stiffer. The old Brooks shorts are my favorite athletic shorts and I wish I could buy more of them.

I have had many pairs of these and they were my go to short. Recent changes have my the liner material much lighter but at the sake of durability and use. It no longer provides compression needed to keep objects held in place in the liner pocket. I used to keep a small iPhone SE in the pocket. It held it in place perfectly and I could hardly tell it was there. On my first half marathon distance with the newer version the phone bounced up and down against my skin so much it resulted in a larger friction burn on my skin. I had to switch to using a waist belt to carry the phone and continued to used the shorts. Both pairs eventually wore thin and developed small tears in the liner again resulting in friction burns within a single season. I love the fit and design but please reconsider the material used for the liner. There has to be a better balance of lightweight and breathable without sacrificing durability.

I have usually worn the Cascadia 7" built in underwear shorts and they have been awesome. Tried the Sherpa and these have given me major undercarriage chaffing, which is dead stop for me. Don't know why the seams in the underwear portion are located where they are but it causes me nothing but issues.

Loved them but the liner wore out way too early. For the price I wish they'd last a little longer.

I'm so upset over the latest design of the Sherpa shorts that I needed to write a review. The latest design includes flaps over the two exterior pockets. Why these flaps were added is beyond me. Running a marathon is hard enough. Now I have to struggle to pull GU's and supplements out of my pockets. I've actually since gotten scissors and removed the flaps because they're so annoying. Runners beware. I loved the Sherpa shorts so much I bought a second pair. My first pair, which is a couple years old now, does not include the flaps. I still really like these shorts and will continue to run in them, but am really disappointed over the flaps. Brooks - Please remove these flaps in your next design. Also, please have marathoners test. Thank you in advance.

Purchased Sherpa 7" 2-in-1 short to replaced another pair that was wearing out. Have three other pair. All older pairs have a pocket in the right leg of the short liner which my iPhone 8 would easily fit into. The product description on the Brooks website clearly states that the pocket will accommodate a smartphone. To my surprise, when I received my new pair of shorts the pocket on the leg of the liner has been downsized and will no longer fit my phone. I tried the other three pockets and none of them would fit my iPhone either. I am really disappointed. These have always been my favorite shorts. My phone tracks my run as an older runner/walker, I like to keep it with me in case of a personal emergency. Why would you change something that wasn't broke.

They are awful, the inner short is way smaller than the outer. Will never buy another pair of running shorts from Brooks again.

Runs tight for size M in hips & liner. Draw string useless. Seems you cannot buy running shorts that fit without 3 tries. Once you find a good one & try to re-order they already have switched to new styles. Why can't sizing stay the same across styles? No, I don't want to return used liner shorts. That is gross.

I have numerous pairs of shorts to walk/run in. The fit wasn't for me. They were made for someone besides me. I returned them.

To start the liner is not comfortable. It is more a mesh swimsuit type. I was expecting a compression type feel. Back pocket is only good for id, keys, credit cards, but not a phone. My Iphone11 with a case fits ok in the liner pocket but does not feel secure. I will only run on a treadmill with these shorts so I don't have to keep anything in them. Sizing is also too big. I got the medium size. I am a 31 waist, and these were too loose. I have to tie them quite tight for a good fit and still can't get it quite right. Would not recommend these shorts.

Why do they not have pockets, had I known, I would not have bought them.

The fit is very uncomfortable. It sags in the back and the shorts don't sit well on the body. Like they perpetually want to slip off my back side. I have to keep pulling them up onto my body as I run, no matter how tight I pull the strings.

I hate it. I bought the M Size. Normally use this size in other brands. But I have to cut the inside part to use it.

I was optimistic because the design looks right around perfect. However, for me (6' 2", 225lbs) they simply didn't fit and I took advantage of the excellent return policy before even taking them outside the house.

I returned both pairs of shorts. They did not fit correctly. They fell down my backside when I tried to run. The phone pocket also weighed down the pants.

I agree with many others on this topic. The old version of these shorts is much better. The hip pockets are worthless. The back pocket isn't large enough to hold a cell phone. The new liner is awful. There is no compression and it rides up where as the old one would actually stay. I'm trying to find a new short because I'm needing to replace old sherpas but can't get these.

Loved the previous version of these shorts. Unfortunately the side pockets on this model are now unusable. Really hope Brooks will bring back the old design.
