The only reason I didn't give these a full five starts is no pocket big enough for a phone; they're just not really long enough for it. Otherwise, they're totally perfect. Material dries quickly. Super comfortable. True to size. I'm 5'8" and longest through the thigh so I need extra length in a short. I also purchased the Chaser 7" and (while the 7" do have room for a real pocket) the 7s feel a little "granny style" - if you are someone who cares about the fashion aspect. The 5" are long enough for my t h i c c thighs without being frumpy.

Short weight, length and fit are all perfect. The star was lost because a drawstring would have made it fabulous. Unfortunately during a long run, it starts slipping. It doesn't come completely down, but wants to rest below my waist.

LOVE these shorts: they don't ride up, they feel and remain airy and dry, they're the perfect length (not too short, not too long), and they are very flattering! I gave them 4/5 only because I wish the waist band would sit a bit higher and I find them a tad pricey (although I admit they're worth every penny). I own 3, and I'm always on the lookout for a price drop so I could buy 3 more! Some reviewers advise to size up - this has not been my experience. Maybe if you're curvy or muscular, they may fit a little snug. I'm 5' 2" 1/2 and weigh 119 and a size small fits me perfectly, and they're quite comfortable and roomy. Hope this helps. Love my Chasers!

They ran a little small but overall great fit and comfort! I like the wide waist band!

Purchased a medium. Will get a large next time to to get a baggy feel vs fitted.

I love these shorts. They are lightweight and comfortable. They wash up well and hold their shape and fit. The fit was true to size. The only reason I did not give them a 5-star rating is I wish they had more built-in pockets. One is not enough for me on longer runs.

My preferred running shorts. Have in both small and medium. Small is more fitted for me. Comfortable for long runs.

I love these shorts for running. I prefer to wear a comfortable fit in my running shorts and if I buy my true size in Brooks shorts they are either too short in length or slightly more fitted than I like when running. The medium ends up feeling a bit too big after a few wears.

I'm not a runner, more a race or "quick-step" walker. My favorite Brooks 5" running shorts have been out of production for a couple years. They had a full liner, nice thickness, that extended to the end of the length of the 5" short, and the liner had a thin line of flat rubber on the inside bottom.. That rubber and the strength of the liner material kept my thighs protected from chafing, plus kept the outside short material from riding up my legs. I'm 65 yr old and fighting a disease that requires I take steroids, so I'm about 15 lbs above my fit weight. I was desperate to find another go-to short. This one is not it. The liner is basically like a pair of built-in underwear that creep up one's butt. The shorts are cut so that when I walk or sit the materials rides up to my crotch. So I'll keep them for backyard gardening but they won't be what I wear for race walking. I'll wear my old ones until they fall apart, or my compression bike shorts or capris. Bottom line, if you're relatively thin and not too curvy these shorts are probably fine. If you are curvy, have a few extra lbs on you and you want thigh coverage at minimum 5", this doesn't work.

After reading reviews, I thought I needed size L. I'm 5'1" and weigh 142 lbs.
They were too roomy and long/bunching. I will try out the 3" in medium and see how that goes. Material was great, light weight.

The look and feel of these shorts while standing is great. The practicality of running in them isn't as good. The slit in the side give great ROM, but it also allows for the shorts to bunch up in the inner thighs. (Making them awkward in a run) I also believe they run small. Get a size up.

I wanted these to work out so badly because they are SO comfortable on, but unfortunately, they don't serve the purpose for which I bought them -- which is for running. For me, these shorts bunched up just enough to be uncomfortable when running and the chafing was real. Too bad, because they really are a beautiful short. For reference, I have a 29" waist/ 39" hip/pear-shaped and ordered a size M.

Too short. Also would have preferred zip up pockets

Nice shorts. Comfortable and good for running. I have 3 stars because I am tired of too small pockets on women's clothing in general.
The pocket is located in the front waistband on the right side. It is too small to hold a phone, but can hold keys and ID card. I wish these had real pockets on the outside with a zipper. Or at least something big enough to hold a phone.

Is Brooks doing vanity sizing now? I bought a pair of S size--much bigger than the S I bought many years ago. Not sure if it's the exact same model, but the design is remarkably similar. This S was too big for me. The design is great though.

Love these shorts but they run very small. I’m a size 10 in everything and the L (12-14) didn’t fit. Size up. I liked them enough I’m sending them back for an XL, but some size consistency would be nice.

These shorts are so close to being perfect, however the lining is just too small, which makes these uncomfortable. I like the range of motion and fabric though.

Not my favorite shorts. They are fine for walking but ride up a lot the moment I begin to run. I returned them as they didn't meet my needs.

I love the idea of these shorts. Great material, appreciate the wide, flat waistband, cut style and good colors. But the rise is very short. I'd love these in at least a mid rise. Had to return.

These run very small! I am normally a size 12 so I bought a large but the waist is too tight! Definitely size up. I do like the feel of the shorts though.

Runs small. I'm 5'4" and 110# and found them to be too snug.... so I knocked off stars for comfort since I couldn't judge well with it being tight. The style was spot on, and I loved the color asphalt. They are out of the next size up or I would try another size.

These are really nice to just wear around doing household chores or walking the dog but not for running. If you have muscular thighs then these may not work for you. The fabric bunched up in the crotch area and was constantly pulling at the shorts, ended up with chafing issues during a short run.

I think I would have loved them if they fit me better (they were a little snug for me), but the elastic waist band was kind of strange and I didn't like that it didn't have an adjustable tie waist. I liked the longer length a lot

Very small. I'm normally a size medium and own several pairs of Brooks running shorts. The medium I purchased were definitely a size too small.

These look great from the outside (lots of room to move, great fabric, etc.), but the inner "underwear" lining is very tight/small/restrictive. The waistband is also on the low/snug side. I did not find them comfortable at all. I will try sizing up, but i'm afraid the outer layer will look to "baggy".
