Initial quality good. Only interesting observation is the my 9 2E old shoe has a wider bottom sole than this new pair of wider 9 4E shoes. Both are 840 style. Does seem to matter at the moment ; however a wider base would provide more stability for a wider foot.

I like the way the they look they are comfortable just wish you would make the nicer shoes in the usa

The 840 is a fine walker. The white color has nice detail on the uppers. It has a wide toe box. There is no arch, so I inserted orthotics. Very comfortable, quiet, light and of high quality.

This is the second pair of new balance shoes I have purchased and returned. The shoes were different models but I had the same problem with my big toe on my left foot. After about 30 minutes of use my toe would start to feel pins on the bottom of my toe. Shortly after some discomfort. They are a well made shoe but I guess they were not meant for me.

Well let me say that I have been wearing 928V3 for years-maybe 15 plus pairs. I These 840V2 were on sale so I thought I would save some money and try them. I wore them around the house for about a week and decided to send them back. If you are used to wearing 928V3 shoes these won't compare. I will tell you that I am 6.3" 250 lbs. size 12 4E . These did not feel comfortable and hurt the ball of my foot. THE GREAT thing is that New Balance has a No Hassle Return -So as soon as they post my refund I will just turn around and buy the 928 V3. model like I should have in the first place.

The V2 version of this shoe is much narrower then the V1 version and I was really surprised by this and returned them

I really like this sneaker I wish they would make the nicer looking sneakers in America seems they do this for a reason ?

this is the 3rd pair of new balance in the past year that I've purchased, supposedly 4E but don't fit that wide.

I was looking for a winter type shoe. Good shoe but seems short! Order 1/2 size larger.

My husband wears the 928v3 all the time but they are never in stock.

i purchased these sneakers,did not realize that they were so wide also the fact very expensive so i want to return for credit back called twice to get ups call tag because i can't print one but 3 weeks now no tag so if i don't get one soon i will pay to send them back,not very pleased with this issue!!!

840 fit my feet perfectly. Then 840v2 came along and the slightly narrower contour of the toe area is not as comfortable and crowds my toes.

Nice shoes the way there made the sides of the shoe hits right under my ankles

Does not have the same fit in the sole as version 1. the heel area is too high which leads to pain in the upper leg.

Since I could no longer find the 840v1 in my size, I purchased the 840V2. My initial impression is unfavorable. They weigh half of the original, the leather is half, half the stiffness, half the thickness, half the cushioning and feel like they should cost half the price. They lowered the sides; to make them easier to put on? I don't understand. Don't use these to walk in snow, your feet will freeze. I get frustrated with NB for making a good shoe, then stop making and replacing it with something accountants designed, trying to save every 1/2 a penny they can. You can probably tell I am very disappointed. NB, come on man, let's get it together

I'm 58 yrs. old, and I have been buying NB for decades, and this pair of shoes is the worst representation of NB I've purchased. The shoes are not true to size, neither in length, width, nor the quality of construction. After wearing them approximately 6 times, for approximately 10-15 minutes each time (post-surgery walks for gaining strength), they continue to stretch, making them uncomfortable, even risky to wear. New Balance should have a much higher level of quality control. You set yourself apart with marketing copy and pricing, now step up and match it with the finished product.

Walking. Have old pair of 840v2. Wonderful shoe. New ones not as long and not as wide especially in toe are. VERY dissapointed!

Way too narrow and one sneaker felt like I was walking on a cinder block
