Guy tried to sell me a size 6 but bought size 7. They hurt my feet and are so narrow. Never again.

The shoes seems to be flatter and toe box feels different. Where did all the cushioning go? I have flat feet and V. 3 was the only shoe my feet loved!!! PLEASE STOP CHANGING VERSIONS BRING BACK V. 3!!!!

I would not recommend buying this style New Balance. Horrible quality, poorly made, the foot insert was rippled in the bottom of the shoe. The sneaker is very small, I ordered my normal NB size and couldn’t even get my foot into it. I ordered the 840 V4 because the 940 V4 (which I wear all the time) hasn’t been available.

I have worn NB walking shoes since the 1980s. The 840 walking shoe was my favorite shoe for a many times as I could buy them. I order them as NB went through the numbers. In fact I still have one or two as well as the last one, the 847v3. You returned to the 840 walking shoe a few years back and I bought two pair of them. When I went to order a third pair of 840, NB had given the number to a running shoe 840v4. I tried it thinking it might be the same. Too my regret, it is not. Now if I want to continue with 840 walking series, it seems that I must buy the 847v4 even though I was never happy with the the 847v3.

Could not really try on because of elastic lace that was not removable. Recommend that this kind of lacing be discontinued. Same goes for the other pair of 840 sneakers that were sent in this order. I have older pairs of this model New Balance that I really like, so very disappointed.

Wow...where do I start... These shoes are terrible. There is NO cushioning inside this shoe. You can feel what ever frame they have in there when you step down. I tried taking out the insoles that came with the shoe which are super thin. Even my insoles I wear in my Van's - which have no padding but ARE flat - did not take the feeling of stepping on I don't know what. Painful. When a pair of Van's are way more comfortable than a $125 New Balance shoe, there is something really wrong...

The inside tongue is defective. It is all sticky. A layer of padding must have been left off! So am returning these! Too bad! They are a great fitting shoe for very narrow feet.

I was disappointed with these shoes. The size and fit were ok. However, there was a sharp manufacturer defect in the right shoe at the big toe that was very uncomfortable and made the shoe impossible to wear. Seemed like something was stuck in the inside seam or poorly put together causing the bulge. It also seemed like these shoes had been returned once before as there was no inside padding and the laces were untied. I put a note on the shoe explaining the problem so am hoping they don't get shipped to another customer!

For a long time New Balance was my go-to brand. It's hard to find size 5.5W--next to impossible in stores-- and New Balance has them in lots of styles. For years I could order a 5.5W from New Balance and know it would fit. Then their sizing started to get inconsistent. Sometimes the 5.5W would be too small or too tight, and I started buying size 6W occasionally. Earlier this year I ordered a New Balance shoe in 5.5W and I couldn't get my foot into it. This model I ordered both the 5.5W and the 6W, and the 5.5W was too -big-, so both are going back. I'm very disappointed in New Balance.

I'm wondering if NB has changed their sizing. This will be the 4th pair of NBs I have returned due to too much movement in the heel. My usual size is 10 2A. All pairs had I kept them would have been "sock gobblers."

I am returning these shoes because with my orthotics my feet keep sliding off the shoe. The shoe is not built deep enough to accommodate the orthotic and the heel with a snug fit around the ankle. Definitely don't recommend this shoe for anyone who uses an orthotic.

These 840s are a total disappointment compared to the 840v3. The 2E is WAY more narrow and the heel slips. I have LOVED the 840v3's, but am not happy with the new version. New Balance, bring back the wider toe box and add more of a heel so you can't run out of your shoes.

I adore these shoes. They are incredibly comfortable with my custom orthotics or my APO braces. They look great and not “medical”-ish. I get compliments on them from people ranging from friends and family to physical therapists and orthopedists.
The 2E width is true to size. I have cavovarus foot (super high arch) and my foot is very wide so finding comfortable shoes can be a challenge. These are fantastic, with a wide toe box, a tongue that doesn’t put too much pressure on the top of my foot while being nice to look at.

These have been my Go-To daily shoes except for wintertime and are still feeling great. I walked miles and miles over 3 weeks in Europe this summer and was happy to wear these every day. I need a wide toe box since I have small toe issues and am very happy with these shoes. Previous New Blance similar style ended up with a hole above the big toe. Not with these!
