Love the fit, the lightness and the Vibram grip, although the good grip also makes the outsole slightly too rigid for me. Before SG2 I was wearing a few pairs of ATR Challenger 2, and I loved its flexible outsole. The shoes also seem to be less breathable than average, trapping the heat of the foot. Any one else experiencing the same issue?

These shoes were recommended by my orthopedist to assist me with osteoarthritis pain in my knees. However, the toe box feels narrow because of how thick the midsole is, and the shoes don't feel comfortable, though they certainly have great cushioning. They are more comfortable on my foot than the Hoka One One Bondi (which feels strange to walk in), but again, as with the One One, the toe box feels too small because of the added cushioning, and there is too much pressure across the toe box as a result. The colors are fun, and the shoe is well-cushioned, but it's just not for me. It may be good for my knees, but I can't get past my feet feeling crowded in a show that otherwise fits (i.e., increasing the shoe size is not the answer).

Right out of the box, 46 miles of mud and knee high creek crossings at EGGS 2018, and my feet were perfect albeit waterlogged. If I wasn't for lack of sleep I would have gone back out for 46 more in these wet marshmallows.

I have used Hokas for my daily road running and was wondering if they would hold up to obstacle course racing. So I bought a pair of these bad boys and ran a Spartan Race with them. They were far more comfortable than the shoes I usually wear, and they handled the steep terrain well. The only problem I had was how slow it drained water after being fully submerged. Other than that, I'm sold on using these for OCRs! Thanks for making a fantastic shoe!

The toe box on this shoe feels smaller and flatter than my Clifton 4. The rep at Hoka said this is on purpose as it is a trail running shoe. For me, it is a bit too confining so I will swap up a 1/2 size & see how that feels. The treds are good & grippy & it’s a stiffer shoe, which all suits its purpose IMO. Some people don’t like the way the Speedgoat looks, I do and think the colors selections are good.

Cannot believe how light these are for trail shoes. Traction on dirt is great. Only problem I have is size. A little narrow but not uncomfortable. Toe box is not as big as other Hoka shoes I have. Size was 10 1/2 normal width. Fit is spot on with light socks, not sure I would want to wear a pair of thick cotton crews.

Really have enjoyed the Speedgoat 2's. They are lightweight, have a great Vibram sole, and are a good balance of cushion! The only thing I would recommend is to size up at least a .5 size as the toe box/forefoot area is a bit more narrow than others.

I haven't spent enough time in this shoe, yet. But, at least right now, I think I like the Speed Instinct a little better. It could be I need more break-in time with these Speedgoats because they feel a little stiff, yet their cushioning seems fine. Time will tell.

My current go-to shoe for ultramarathons and trail running. Excellent cushion and traction, and tends to aggravate a Haglund's condition less than any other shoes I run in. My only gripe that prevents me from giving a 5 star rating is the separation of the lug strips on the outsoles, especially the heel. The heel strip has completely peeled off my first two pairs, the first somewhat understandably due to the limestone-infested 100 miler I raced. The second pair's heels peeled from normal usage after 250 miles or so. I can't help but wonder how much more mileage these shoes could take on with an integrated rubber outsole vs. the strips as the construction has otherwise been very durable.

Only three runs in these, but one was a 22 miler and they felt amazing compared to my 2 year old (probably shot) Solomon Sense Pro Max's and the best cushioning + traction combo I've found yet. Hard baked dirt/rocks or sloppy mud savvy. I have high arches with zero natural cushioning in my feet and am prone to PF/adhesions when my mileage greatly increases. Don't see that as a problem with these, have helped immensely already. If you're also neutral and don't have wide feet, this is your shoe. Don't waste the beautiful traction running roads in these :)

Bought a pair of Speedgoat 2 for walking. Shoe is extremely comfortable and just what I needed for post-op bunion surgery. But,the shoe lets off a very sticky substance after running on my treadmill. . Extremely sticky, black gunk that gets all over my ceramic floors! Just to make sure it wasn't the treadmill I put my old Nike's back on and ran and no problem. Same with some New Balance I had. Something in the rubber sole of the shoe is reacting to my treadmill belt. Very frustrating. I wonder if anyone else has this problem. I cleaned the belt with a solvent just in case it was the belt, but now I'm convinced it's the shoe.

I have several pairs of these and are my main go to for any long runs or ultras. Surprisingly stable considering the stack height, work well on all terrain and conditions I come across. Largest pro for me is they do not leave my legs feeling nearly as beat as much after long runs compared to other shoes in category while still feeling feel very light and nimble for the amount of protection they offer. My 2 negatives are : they do not drain very well after water crossings. they feel like they hold extra water in the upper fabric and will feel heavier afterwards in comparison to other shoes. Toe box could be taller- great fit overall but personally would like a little more height above toes. Both cons are easily overlooked for me as the benefits far outweigh them.

I bought the Speedgoats to replace my aging Brooks Cascadia. Wasn't sure what to expect. But my expectations were surpassed. The shoes are surprisingly lightweight and offered great cushioning which really helped during my hike on some rocky terrain this past spring break. They even performed well during my runs on the threadmill. I highly recommended and I bought my father a pair to replace his Hoka ones.

At first I thought they were too narrow (I have a narrow foot) or I sized too small but after a few runs they opened up some. Still, the fit isn't as comfortable as the Clifton 3 or 4, which fit perfectly. All three are size 10's. However, where the fit isn't perfect the Vibram sole and lugs are. The grip is excellent.

I was hesitant at first, fearing the abnormally large sole would be too bulky. I mostly run on the road, but found that this shoe (which is a trail shoe) works very well in all conditions. I have been wearing this shoe for about a month and have put on roughly 130 miles of training, and they only get more comfortable. My knees and hips are feeling great. I recommended them to my wife, who is also an avid runner. Her birthday is next month and I plan on buying her a pair.

I always bought New Balance or Asics because I have a 13 wide foot. Can't run these days because I am 220 lbs and pretty much destroyed my joints running in younger years. So LOTS of cushion is important to me, even if I only use it when power walking or moving through my day. I fell in love with the Hoka Speedgoats when I tried them on. The cushion was amazing, and yet these shoes are so light. I wear them everyday, everywhere. The only but is that they are a bit short and a bit narrow. I put up with this for the aforementioned benefits. I would give my eye-teeth to have wider ones, but alas, I am told they don't come in wide. Why not, Hoka? It would seem there are enough wide footers out there to make it doable. Here's hoping.... And if that changes, my rating will go to a full 5 stars!

Under 50 miles so far, so unsure of durability. They are very comfortable and are definitely narrower through the main part of the shoe. This I like as it hugs my foot well on uneven terrain. The toe box is decent but could be wider. The heel is a little sloppy on the steep climbs even using the heel lock lacing technique. This is really my only gripe so far. I have yet to have a pair of Hoka's (and I have tried several) that get the heel right. These are about the same as the Challenger 2's in this area, but just not narrow enough. My guess is on runs of 18+ I will get heel blisters as I tend to run in steep Oregon/Washington terrain.

I keep reading review after review about how Hoka's newer shoe versions aren't as "plush" as the older models. I'm always curious as to what other mental or physical factors are involved when these types of comments are made, but who am I to judge. I discovered Hoka about 1 year ago and now own 3 pair. My right knee is bone on bone and my left is on it's way (12 years of bull riding teaches hard lessons). The Bondi's, Stinson ATR and Speed Goat have all surpassed my expectations by greatly reducing the chronic pain associated with running. And in summation, great company, great customer service, great shoes.

Using the shoe for street runs at this point, recovering from total knee replacement. This model is a little narrow but good control.

I was looking for a more cushioned shoe as I am fairly injury prone and have been bumping up my mileage significantly. These shoes worked perfectly for that, they are incredibly comfortable and I feel great bombing big hills on the trails without wrecking my legs. One drawback of this shoe is that you become much more prone to rolling your ankle due to the height of the mid sole. Obviously there is a certain amount of user error associated with this but I have definitely noticed that I roll my ankles more in these shoes. Was a little concerned originally about weight but it isn't even noticeable compared to my last pair. Haven't had them long enough to comment on durability but holding up perfectly after a couple weeks of training runs. Overall, I would highly recommend if you're looking for a little extra cushioning while still feeling fast on the trails, just be a little extra careful of where you're stepping.

Great shoe after daily wear and 50 mile trail running. Just the toe box seems really narrow and I have pretty tiny feet all the way up and down. Have been wearing in colder weather and toes feel a little warm. Not sure if due to lack of ventilation or the pressure. Still would highly recommend the shoe otherwise.

I am an avid runner who has been plagued with foot injuries off and on the past 3 years. After recovering from a stress fracture last summer, I was looking for a trail shoe that would be more forgiving/cushy yet still provide "feel" on varied trail terrain. I bought the Speedgoats and OHMYGOSH, best running shoe purchase I think I've ever made. They provide fantastic cushion but aren't stacked too high; I was concerned about the 5mm drop because I had plantar fascia surgery 18 months ago but it hasn't been an issue. They are also delightfully light. Best of all, my feet aren't killing me after long runs of 3+ hours. My only gripe is the shoelaces: they have some elasticity to them and no matter how I tie them, they stretch out after an hour and my feet are swimming around in the shoes and I have to stop and retie. This may not seem like such a hassle, but I'm sick of stopping during races to retie. I need to swap out the laces but these are a cool color so vanity is currently winning out.
