I bought two pairs of these boots and after a couple months wear, the toe portion started to curve upward, making my toenails sore, ( yes, they're clipped). Good light boots, but only good for short time.

Sole ripped away from heel. Not worn everyday. Very unhappy with product. For the price. What can be done to fix this?

I bought these to replace a worn out pair of Moab mid Roves purchased in January 2016. I've worn through around ten pairs of Moab variants over the years. The regular Moab waterproof versions consistently become not waterproof after three months of daily work wear. The Roves were waterproof for almost their entire life, which I was quite pleased with. They were my winter work shoes, so probably over a year's worth of days on them. These Adventures are very much like the Roves, but stepping in a puddle that went over my toes water just poured in. I looked and the tongue is not attached. The Rove had a webbed tongue and was what you would expect. These Adventures were a huge disappointment. Calling them waterproof seems deceiving. Water even splashed on the top comes in a little. Submerging the toe equals instant sunken ship. The wide width was not as wide as I have found in other Merrell products. I had to return the boots.

I've worn Merrells for many years and love your products. My job is to walk trails everyday in all types of weather and Merrell boots and shoes have served me well. I was stoked to find these boots, leather, waterproof, good soles, lightweight, good looking but I was dismayed to find out that THE TONGUE IS NOT GUSSETED! How can you make a hiking boot and say it's waterproof without gusseting the tongue? Not to mention the rocks, sand, foxtails and other debris that sneak into the openings on either side of the tongue. This is a serious flaw and I am surprised you would put your name on such a poorly designed product designed for trail use. I will be sending them back.

I bought both the boot and lace version of the shoe, both waterproof. They are comfortable enough BUT, I went out recently to shovel snow (3 inches) from the driveway and by the time I was done the front of my feet (both of them), were wet. The shoes ended up discolored in the area that were wet. I came in and decided to try a few drops of water on the shoes and much to my surprise and disappointment, the water had essentially soaked into the fabric. Had I known that the shoes were not actually waterproof, I would have spent less, got the lighter color and understood that I walked in water at my own risk. It is disappointing that Merrell continues to advertise the shoes as waterproof when there seems to be more than a reasonable amount of anecdotal reviews on this site alone to call that claim into question.

I recently received these boots for Christmas and was disappointed the first and only time I wore them. I happen to wear them when it was raining and to my surprise water went in them instantly soaking my socks. This is my 2nd pair of Merrell Moab Adventure Mid Waterproof boots I've owned. The first pair leaked after a couple of years of wearing them (Understandable). They were leather all around including the tongue. Now the new version which I am reviewing now are also leather except for the tongue it is mesh but yet Merrell claims these boots to be waterproof (Nope). The only plus on these boots is they are comfortable and look nice but if you are looking for a waterproof hiking boot then these are not going to help.

I don't walk the sidewalk in light rain or hike in wet leaves. I work in rain and snow as well as pressure wash houses. I was hoping this was the end of my search. These are only waterproof if you walk in the rain in the city. Other than that you will be disappointed as myself. Good luck in your search as mine continues.

I recently purchased these shoes for a backpacking trip. To say that they failed to meet my expectations is an understatement. The first river crossing of the 22 mile hike, I lost my balance and my foot was wet the entire hike. I had heard and read great things about these shoes but my experience is that the shoe under performs in wet conditions. The other hikers on my trip literally walked through the water with what should have been an inferior shoe, and stayed dry the entire hike. I would not recommend purchasing these shoes for hiking, backpacking or camping if your intentions are to keep your feet dry.

This product is in no way waterproof or resistant. I can't even walk through a yard , where the grass is cut and not get soaked feet. VERY hard to believe they can claim this at all.

Overall I gave it one star only because you would not expect the tongue to have detached sides on a waterproof boot. Kind of defeats the purpose of a waterproof boot. It would have been nice to know this before I bought the boot, it would have saved the return hassle.

While the shoes are comfy the sole has started to separate just into my 3rd hike. Its disappointing to see that this is a common issue with most Merrell's specially related to both waterproofing & soles separating reading several reviews for multiple Merrell's on this / other sites. Customer service has agreed to replace my pair - however this doesn't keep me from wondering if my waterproof pair (or its replacement) will be water proof or has a durable sole. My last Merrell? I definitely think so!

This is my third pair of this style shoe and I have to say that I am highly disappointed. The shoe even feels cheap. The first two pairs I've had were great and lasted. They were rugged and took on bad weather. This shoe looks like it son't last that long. The tongue of the shoe isn't even attached to the body for rain. It's like they took the low version of these and just sewed on a longer padding at the ankle. I am most definitely returning them.

Needed a new pair of hiking boots and settled on these. No need to look anywhere else as I have worn Merrells for 30 years. Loved the fit and look so I loaded the dog and headed to the lake where we hike daily. Start the hike and these are very comfortable boots right out of the box and with the sun on my face, I am happy as a clam. Then disaster strikes. I step into a puddle (2-3" deep) and my foot is soaked. So I cut my hike short and go back to the truck to inspect my boots and lo and behold, NO GUSSETS. How could Merrell produce an outdoor boot without gussets; this is the stupidest thing I have ever seen in over 50 years of hiking. These boots are worthless unless I want to walk on a dry sidewalk or my treadmill in the basement. Well, I don't. Sorry, Merrell, you have lost a longtimer.

Feet got wet by stepping in a mud puddle less than two inches deep.Leather has absolutely no water repellent on it at all. These boots are not waterproof at all. Only had boots for a couple weeks sending them back.
