I've been slightly surprised at how awesomely versatile this jacket is. It excels in all kinds of precipitation, and is warm, but never overheating. It's also reasonably lightweight and packable. It's not nearly as bulky as it appears on the website, and it's not a single, do-it-all layer (i.e., it needs some layering underneath if it's super cold out, or if you're not going to be moving. I've worn it in the backcountry while it's nuking heavy snow, and in the desert between pitches at the crag, and it's great for everything in between. I haven't had it for long, so I can't speak to its durability, but it seems well put together. Good stuff, OR.

Great jacket. Good for a large range of temperatures and very warm despite the light weight. I highly recommend the jacket for hiking, pre/post workout wear and travel. Very versatile. I would buy again.

I was skeptical about this layer at first because the fleece and shell combo seems to be something that we left behind in the 90s. However, this is no 3 in 1 jacket of the old days. The insulation has come a long way. I have worn this jacket almost every day since I got it. I continually find that it works so well across a variety of conditions that I never have to take it off. It offers warmth and some wind protection on the uphill, but I never feel like it's too much. It is very lightweight for the warmth it has, but it is breathable. I only ever take it off when the sun is out and the temps are rising. My only complaints is that I wish the hand pockets had zippers. I am 6'2" 180lb and bought a large. I appreciate the extra sleeve length for overhead reaches when ice climbing, but a medium would have probably been better.

This jacket does exactly what it says it does. Wore it ski touring on the up track and I did not have to de layer when the going got strenuous... then zipped it fully up and skied down without need of another shell... :)

This is perfect. I am 6'2" and about 195 lbs. I am right between an XL and a L. I bought the large and love it. The sleeves are large enough and the body is snug. This is a challenge for me. But this is perfect. The cuffs don't pull up when I extend my arms and the body fits. For a mid layer this is absolutely perfect. I plan on using this for skinning up and wearing it under a shell. I read a description on this being between a nano-puffy and a fleece. Agreed. Nice product and very satisfied. I wear this often.

I live in Kodiak Ak and it's always wet. Finding the right jacket that's the right combo of weatherproof and won't heat you out is hard to find

Great jacket, I live in SW Florida and this is my "winter jacket" I leave it in car, use it all winter. Throw a waterproof jacket over it, I'm set! Perfect for any winter day/night in FLA. I love the pockets and the feel of it.
This is my second jacket I purchased. My wife used my first one 1 morning when she went walking. She informed me Its hers now. We probably dont use this jacket for what it was designed for, but we love it!

Spent 7 days back country skiing in the Kootenays, and the ascendant was my go to jacket. While I carried a shell and a puffy, generally I never used them. I wore the ascendant on the up track and it breathed like a champ. By the time I had pulled skins and gotten myself organized, I found that I was sufficiently warm, so there was no need to add another layer. Love this jacket. If I have any complaint, I wouldn't mind zipped hand pockets.

This is my new go-to layer. It was mid teens in the Sierras the other day. I thought I needed this under my shell. I was right. I wore a thin (cheap) under layer, provided by my mountain, and my hoody in between. I spent all day in this garment, with a shell on top. I was warm and dry all day.
Today was in the mid 30's and I tested it out with the Radiant undeneith, and I was so happy. Again, I was warm, maybe a bit too warm, but I was so dry, it didn't mess up my day. This is a game changer for those who are outdoor professionals an understated how layers work.
I'm so stoked that I switched to OR as my #1 choice for my clothing. I'm an outdoor professional and have my choice of retailers. OR is my brand.
GREAT JOB, guys.

Very breathable, impressive wind resistance. SUPER COMFORTABLE. OR's slim fit is very slim so I usually go a size up for jackets that aren't base, this proves to work out very well. 5'11" 190# XL fits loose but perfect ontop base layer + down.

I put this jacket on at the start of the day, and have a hard time convincing myself to take it off when I get in the sleeping bag. And it is comfortable the whole time. Amazing piece of gear with a light baselayer when moving aerobically in the cold. The integrated windshell makes it very versatile. The only con is that for its weight, it is not as warm as some puffy type insulation pieces, especially when pairing those with a shell when stopped.

I wear this jacket every day. It's super comfortable, and fits true to size. It's as warm as other micropuffs that I own, but breathes way better. I'm curious to see how long the inner lining will last. It's a textured fleece material that I could see loosing loft over time- but so far it's been good.

Love this jacket - have almost worn it everyday since I got it - it's great in cold weather but breathes so well you almost don't have to take it off when the thermostat climbs. Feels almost windproof and sheds light rain. Under a shell - it's practically bombproof. Looking forward to taking it into the mountains/desert/anywhere.

It has easily become a "go to" jacket for me. This jacket plus a thin shell and it's got the movement and the stops covered.
