I do like the style and the length. Because it was too big on me, it was bulky and oversized. I had a hard time with engaging and pulling up the zipper - tried it like 3 times over a period of about 15 minutes just to be sure. Should zip like butter!

I purchased this through a different site to replace a similar-length, similar weight down coat that I'd had for over a decade and finally fell apart. This coat was not an equivalent replacement. The quality of the coat is fine, except the zipper is kind of a pain. But I've field tested it in our chilly Northeast fall, and it's not that warm, I think because it's so darn loose in the torso. The sleeves fit ok, but the body of the coat leaves A LOT of room around my core (I'm 5'4", 130lbs and bought an XS.) The disparity in size/fit between the arms and torso (arms narrow/torso loose) actually makes layering under it a little difficult. It's a serviceable fall/spring jacket, but it's not the awesome, go-to, holds-up-to-crazy-New-England-winter coat I was hoping for.

Great coat but terrible zipper. The coat is not bulky but still very warm. The worst is trying to get the zipper to work easily. It sticks when getting it started and sticks in the same place when taking it off. I'd send it back but it's already cold here and I like the fit and style of the jacket too much to be without it.

It's going to take a while to get used to the zipper, as it's not straightforward and sometimes it sticks. Otherwise, the code has so many nice featuresjust the right length and weight.

I love the look of the jacket. HOWEVER, the zipper drives me nuts !!! It's very hard to start the zipper. I already returned one coat and got the current one I wear. Just don't feel like returning for a 2nd time. As for warmth, it's OK. I get cold easily, so I really need a warmer coat than this for 30 degree weather. Lastly, the pockets are too small for putting my iphone in. That's a bummer. NOW, I love the feel of the hood; it has nice cozy fabric, and sits nicely on my head so I can still see in front of me. I'd never order this again, but it's an OK coat for 45 degrees and warmer (for me).

The issue I have with this coat is the sleeves are so narrow. Though the rest of the coat fits comfortably in the size I ordered, the sleeves are too narrow and tight. Sadly, I had to return it.

I love everything about it but the black color doesn't even look black I like very dark blacks I have no time to return or exchange as I need it plus it's a wonderful jacket and so comfortable so I will keep it and later on another another that maybe is a darker tone an actual black. Very true to size I'm petite and the ce fits perfectly

I really needed a jacket badly so I kept this coat but it's pretty thin and not that warm. The pockets are great and it's extra long I would prefer a little shorter.

The jacket is just OK. It is supposed to be a nice jacket, but it still feels a little cheap.
The polyester fabric holds onto sweat and smells and isn't great.

I was happy with the fit (5/1", 107 lb, XS fit well) and primary color of the coat (beet.) The version of this coat at the Columbia site is red where this coat is gray (lining of hood and inner sleeves at wrists) - not a big deal, but I'd prefer the red. The light weight is nice, but I think the omni-heat feature works better for people who generate considerable body heat. As a person who is often cold, this coat did not keep me warm in 45 degree weather when I stood on my porch to try it out.

I love everything about the quality and design of the product, but overall I was disappointed in the way the color appeared in person. I purchased the black cherry color and was expecting a deep purple based on the online picture, however the color was a much brighter color in person and did not suit my tastes at all. However, I love the weight of the coat and the fact that it has a hood. Considering re-purchasing in another color.

The jacket was comfortable and fit true to size. It was nice that it was light and not too bulky like other jackets. I was able to layer with a sweatshirt with no issues. I gave this review 3 stars because it was not as warm as others have said. The wind came right up the jacket and did not keep me toasty in NYC cold windy weather.

I bought this jacket in chalk. I must say, I love the color, the fit, the cuffs with the hand covers and thumb holes. It's a beautiful jacket! The problem is, this is no match for deep winter in northern Iowa. I don't get cold easily, but this coat just doesn't keep me warm. I do like it for running errands around town. For that, it keeps me just warm enough without overheating me in a store. I can't wear it for long outside without freezing, unless I wear layer a bit, which I hate. It will be a favorite for cooler spring and fall days.

I'm from Minnesota (Twin Cities area), and needed a new winter coat at a reasonable price that's good quality. I also needed one to keep me warm, especially after last winter; it was so cold one day it was advised that no one be outside if at all possible. I read the reviews for this coat and thought this would be a good one to go with.
I typically don't spend too much time outside in the winter. I like to get out of the car and go straight into a building with heat. For those purposes this coat is just fine.
Today, I decided I would test out if this coat would keep me warm for a longer period of time than that. I chose to walk somewhere to grab lunch at a to-go place 9 minutes from work. According to the Weather Channel app, it was 17F, but feels like 9F. There was a bit of a breeze, but the wind wasn't horrible at all.
This kept my core decently warm, but my arms were cold. Even when I stood still, the top of my back started to get cold, too. As a result, here are my conclusions:
If you're planning to spend a lot of time outside (e.g. walking to class on a college campus), this jacket will not keep you warm in the colder winters. This jacket MIGHT be okay in 30-40F, but not for colder weather. If you're planning only going in and out of buildings that's 30 seconds from your car, than this jacket will be just fine for you.

I have a few other Columbia coats in medium that I love so I thought I'd give this one a try. The top part of the coat fit nicely but the lower part was too tight around my hips. I am 5'6" and 150 lbs and pear shaped. I was hoping for more flare at the bottom of the coat but there wasn't so I returned it.

It's a cute coat but it runs too small. I am a petite person. My shoulders are very narrow. This was too tight to keep. If I ever buy Columbia again it has to be in person. At least Zappo CS is the great!

Runs a tiny bit big. Ordered the red coat. In the picture it shows the comfort cuff and inside the hat as red and when it arrived they were gray. ??
Zipper is a pain to initially zip and unzip.
Haven't tested it in the coldest of weather but it does the job. Def will not purchase online anymore. Always will want to try on products before I purchase.

Just purchased this jacket. I really love it other then the zipper. I don't know if it's because of the double zipper or what but it takes me 5 minutes to get the zipper to work. So frustrating!

Not the warmest of jackets, especially in the wind (New England winters and heavy winds on this college campus). You will definitely need layers underneath. I'm 5'3 around 125lbs and it fits well, I can fit a long sleeve and a hoodie underneath and be perfectly fine. Overall its a good in between with lighter jackets and a heavy jacket for those really windy blistery days. It does give you a good shape too, not too blocky.

I am 5'4" with longer legs. I wear an Xl
I will start by pointing out the things I like.
- the length hits mid thigh
- not bulky
- lined hood
- sleeve length is longer than most and the thumb holes are nice.
These are the things I think could be improved.
- zipper is tricky, you have to go slow and line it up.
- it's not down filled, I think that would make it warmer.
- it's not extremely warm when it's below 30 degrees.
For this price range, you get a good coat. There are some improvements that need to be made. It's a good coat for running around town in, but I wouldn't go on outdoor adventures if it's under 30 degrees unless you layer under it. But size up if you like to layer.

Nice jacket. Cute cut, love the shiny interior. It’s good for wind and rain, but not suitable for temperatures that are sub-40. Even though I like the jacket, I gave just 3 stars for overall because it’s high priced for what you get.

Fine, I'll review it, even though I'm not sure if I'm gonna keep it. I love it, but it hits me right above the knee, not mid-thigh like it shows on the model. And also, like the next day after I ordered mine, it went on sale, almost $30 less than I paid for it. Thanks

After looking at several Columbia coats, I purchased this one based on the great reviews. It seemed to have the functionality I wanted (to keep a thin-ish girl warm when the temp dips to the teens & single digits), the style I was looking for (not too bulky, & long enough to cover my tush), and a price I could afford - with my coupon.
THE GOOD: Love the color, the cuffs with thumbholes, the length, and the lined pockets & hood.
THE BAD: It's not warm (not enough for me anyway). I'm glad I sized up, because I have to wear a jacket under my coat to be warm-ish at 40. I should not have to do this... The zipper is cranky - it usually takes me 3-5 tries to get the zipper to catch properly & zip up. And when the zipper is completely up, it hits at an awkward place under my chin.
THE UGLY: While there's nothing "ugly" about this coat, it lays a bit funny on me. It's kind of a slight A-line design, and since I sized up based on reviews (I could have gotten away with my regular size), I feel like a bell. Maybe it's just that my torso is long & the waist hits me a lot higher than the average person, but I feel like I look bulky (too bad they don't have long torso sizes). It's probably too late to return/exchange it, so I guess I'll have to alter it somehow... >:/

The zipper on this jacket was so difficult to maneuver. I even purchased a second one thinking it was just one bad zipper, but the other one was just as bad. I also agree with one of the other reviews that the silver foil (which I know helps provide the warmth of the coat) just looks a little out of place on this style of coat. I couldn’t justify keeping this coat for the price.

I really loved the jacket, but at my first attempt to unzip the jacket, i could easily slide the top zipper, but the bottom zipper *which allows us to open the jacket from bottom up was stuck and no matter how strategically and gently I tried, It just wouldn't unzip. I ended up trying the jacket with the bottom zip still in place. Will return to get another one with a proper working zip.
