It's a triclimate so it's two jackets in one. You can wear the outer shell alone/ the mid layer alone when needed.

Bought this jacket for my 13 year old son who is constantly outside all winter - skiing, sledding, hanging out. We live in Northern Vermont so it is very cold. We love the fit, style and versatility of this jacket. It is very warm and water resistant, and each piece will get lots of use. We have always been very happy with the quality and longevity of the north face gear we purchase.

The outer shell is a great coat for our mild weather and rainy football games. True to size.

Great fit for what we needed

This is the second time I'm purchasing this coat for my son! We got such good use out of the first one. Can be worn as a light jacket or both coats together for the cold winter days. I love the option that the inner jacket doesn't have a hoodie, but outside jacket does. Our previous triclimate lasted for 3 years and is still in great condition. I know this jacket will hold up for another 3 years! Well worth the money! Also, love the color!!!

My son loves this coat and basically wants to live in it. Likes the fact that it isn't "puffy" like his past coats from different companies.

Best part is that the coat has a jacket inside and can be worn separately pending weather and comfort. Definitely do not have complaints. I was trying to find a jacket that could perform on a 9 yr old boy while climbing a 10,000 ft peak in the sierras. This jacket has absolutely performed better than expected. This triclimate jacket lets my son climb and when he heats up, he can shed the shell into his top pocket on his pack and just use the puff to stay insulated, when weather hits and he need the water proof and windproof protection he can slide the shell right back on and continue with the mission. Hood fits over climbing helmet and is long enough for a harness to fit over as well! the front of the jacket comes up like a baklava protecting his face from the cold. Also the shell can stuff into its own hood for super compactibility..get some!!! This jacket is worth every penny. North face has earned a lifetime customer!

After looking at dozens of websites and spending hours online searching for right winter jacket for my boys, I finally found it here. I bought two Triclimate Jackets and when they arrived I was relieved to find that they are perfect and true to size. Thank You! They are very stylish as well. I'm certain my boys won't complain about the "look". They love them! Now that I know I won't have to worry about my boys getting too cold due to having the wrong jacket I can spend my time making plans for winter travel. Thank you Northface!

Bought both my boys (ages nine and four!) this jacket for the slopes. It's been awesome keeps them warm and dry. Also good value as this works for school winter days. It layers so I assume it will be good for the fall too. Great buy. Love it.
