I ordered a Small based on the recommended size by the fit guide. I ended up returning as the sleeves were 2-3 inches past my hands. I am 5'2" and 115 lbs with broad shoulders. The small was roomy so went with extra small. The sleeves are still a bit long. The hood just fits my head but my bangs still get wet. I cannot wear a ponytail with this hood as the top of my head would get even more wet. I had hoped the hood would replace carrying an umbrella at soccer games but that won't work in my case. I do like the stylish look overall and keeps me dry.

This jacket was beautiful and looked gteat on. I just couldn't get over the logo showing on a nice coat. Yes, it's casual, but kice casual, not sporty. So, the logo made it kind of tacky.

I would have given the trench 5 stars - if the zipper was a double zip - it does split when you sit! FYI "New Taupe Green" is a true olive green - which is lovely - but the photo really doesn't show the color well. Super flattering - highly recommend - especially if NF fixes the zipper problem.

Go up a size on this one. It's cut a bit small across the back, but other than that, it is amazing!

Weird fabric that attracted a lot of lint, hair, etc. it was much smaller in size than my other North Face jackets. I am a true medium and I exchanged for a large, however, the large was much too big. I returned it and am still on the lookout for a new jacket.

I bought a different coat than this one. However it is a nice coat with a flattering silhouette.

I really like the look and comfort of this jacket. The only downside is that the zipper is bad and keeps opening up.

I loved the style & feel of the jacket. Unfortunately it was too small for me. I am 5’5” & 155 lbs; all my jackets/coats are size X-Large. If only it would have been true to size, I would have loved to keep it. Unfortunately, it has to be returned.

I actually bought 3 different coats from northface. This one looks super stylish for going out on the town. Love the way you can tighten it from the sides of it fits loose. I don't like it when your sleeves pull up on other jackets but not in this one. it's long enough to cover your bum and looks really good in a dress or casual.

This coat works for walking, errands, etc. It is also is tailored enough to wear for meeting clients & casual business meetings. I have long arms & can rarely find sleeves long enough, however these are great for me. Lastly, the flexibility to adjust the side waist tabs depending on your clothing is a plus.

I really liked the fabric of this trench and didn't have the same issue of other reviewers where it's too tight when sitting down. However, i just didn't find it flattering and will be returning.

I was sick to death of getting soaked in crummy rain jackets and finally found a waterproof rain jacket that actually keeps me dry. That said, the hood is laughable. It's way too small for my head it comes about halfway over it but a great rain jacket should have a big hood to not just cover your head but have one of those little visor bits on the front for even more protection from the rain. Really wish I'd thought to try the hood on in-store. I will never make that mistake again.

I like this jacket to wear, especially going from a store to my car, for shopping, etc. Light rain jacket and when I am not standing outdoors in the cold.

This is a nice fall/spring weather jacket. It's light and works well with layers. I like the longer length and the adjustable waist. It has been great for fall travel and day to day wear.

I like the styling of The North Face Laney Trench II, but the sizing is way off. I've had to buy different sizes in TNF coats before, sometimes a M, sometimes a L, but this time I need to return a L for a XL. There is no stretch to the fabric, none. So if you like the looks of the coat, size up! Picture yourself trying to reach your arms forward to drive your car and there is no stretch or give to the chest, shoulders, and sleeves. Crazy as it sounds, I'm still going to buy the coat, just in XL. I wear a size 12 in blazers, dresses, and shirts. I want to wear a sweater under this jacket, but I don't plan on hiking in it. Maybe walking my dogs.

I was on a trip and another individual had this item on. They raved about the weight (not too heavy) and pretty good in rain (not that plastic, sticky feeling. I ordered it when I got home and M fit me (my usual size). I like that you can adjust the waist so it doesn't look too boxy. Will be using it for fall travel.

Too tight in the shoulders and the hips/stomach area. I'm really bummed to return this -- it's a really smart looking jacket!

This is a pretty good raincoat. I wear glasses and the hood is PERFECT for keeping my glasses dry and yet letting me see. It seems a little on the small side, but I have not bought North Face before, so maybe they always fit a little small. I'm 5.9" and it feels like the "waist" is high on me. It is stylish and light. But I get cold in it if the temp is below 55 degrees, even with a fleece vest. So maybe better for warm Spring rains. Overall, I was very glad they still had raincoats in February (I'm from Calif and kept thinking the rain was going to stop). And it is working. OH the pockets are PERFECT as well--deep, one side is lined and they have a zipper.
