My wife loves her gray Laney Trench II! It's perfect match of style, fit, and functionality for our cool, wet, and often windy Washington State weather.

This rain jacket is a very clean style. I just wore it in the rain and it repels well and I also like that it's not too heavy. It looks really cute from behind because of the adjustments on the waist.

I recently moved to Seattle and discovered my raincoats were hardly waterproof. Well, I found the best, most stylish one! This fits perfectly. The coat fits well, performs well and looks beautiful with casual wear and even something a bit more dressy. Love, love, love this trench!

It perfect to walk the dog as it keeps me dry without keeping me warm. I had another great raincoat but I would get so hot in it that I had to remove it to cool off. With this raincoat I can truly exercise and don't suffocate in it!

Great jacket! Stylish enough to wear to work but definitely durable and good for wet weather. I took this jacket to Iceland and stayed cozy throughout all the wind and rain. Highly recommend!

I ordered this coat to wear around campus this fall and next spring! I love it!! The adjustable waist is perfect and the length of the coat is perfect to cover your bum if you need to sit on a wet seat! It is so sleek!

Love this coat! It's super flattering and I adore the camo interior. I am 5'9 & a solid 10/12 in size. The large fit perfect! I have the belt on the tightest notch, room for a sweats without being bulky. Can't wait to wear it!

Im glad I sized up as the reviews indicated. It still looks like a cute fit in the bigger size. I can't speak to any qualities as I haven't worn it outside yet.

Nice, thin, but heavier than a shell wind breaker. Flattering, feminine fit. Like other reviewers, no this doesn’t have a 2-way zipper, but if you’re walking and not sitting, it’s fine. The material doesn’t have a lot of stretch either. I’m 5’9 170 36D size L was just right.

I wear it to for my walk to work daily. The lining is not insulated which is what I was hoping for. However, it's attractive and functional. Better for above 40 degrees than below.

I wanted to love this jacket, but it just didn't fit me correctly (5'6", 135 lbs). I seemed to be between sizes S and M. The M felt too big in the arms, chest, waist, but the S felt too small across the waist/hips when sitting and across my back if I tried to pull my arms together. The tabs at the waist have two settings, but the large setting on the S felt too tight and the small setting on the M felt too big. This is one of the jackets I returned after a long hunt for a casual black rain jacket. I originally wanted a mid-thigh length jacket, but ultimately felt most comfortable in the North Face Ditmas jacket (size S). I also looked at the North Face Kindling jacket. The fabric of the Laney II was my favorite of the three jackets. It feels a little like suede which made it seem like a much nicer, less sporty jacket than the others and it didn't feel as plasticy as many rain coats. The material is not shiny. The area around the neck is fleece and can zip up high around your face. This jacket was the warmest of the jackets I looked at. It was also the heaviest (weight). The style is very similar to the Kindling, with one big improvement - the area over the butt is one piece instead of having a slit like the Kindling. The one piece design kept jacket more fitted and stylish. This is a very nice jacket and felt of a higher quality than other rain jackets I looked at, it just unfortunately didn't fit me.

This coat has a great tailored look, while providing warmth and wind/rain protection. The sleeves are a tad long. But not in a way that prevents wear. I bought a Large and it's quite fitted. I won't be wearing any bulky sweaters underneath. But, I love this coat!!

I think this is a beautiful jacket, however, it did not fit me right. I have an hourglass figure and it fit everywhere except my thighs/butt. Going up a size would just make it boxy so I had to return.

This jacket is perfect for the wet weather, it's thin enough for warmer wet days, and it's long enough to to really keep me dry trying to get kids in and out of the car!

Within a week of owning this jacket the zipper popped open when I was squatting down to tie a kids shoe and it hasn't been the same since. It fit fine in the arms and shoulders but a bit tight in the hips. It's a nice looking jacket, pretty lightweight. I regret not buying a size up.

It's good, just not great for me. I currently have jackets from North Face in medium and XL - the XL is a bit big and the medium fits, but I wanted to be able to layer with this trench, so I decided to order a Large. However, it was quite tight in the underarm, back area, and sleeves (the rest, unfortunately, was perfect, so I'm not sure if I'll try again with an XL). I'm not sure what "North Face" sizing usually is, but, relative to my other North Face apparel, this was tight. The arms were a pretty good length (to my knuckle which I like for being able to walk without needing to stuff my hand in the pockets) and I overall really liked the jacket. Be warned though, that this jacket is not at all warm. I went outside my house for about 3 minutes to see if it would keep me warm in 50 degree weather with a wind and light sprinkles - it did not. I couldn't really feel the wind, but without any insulation, the cold creeps in really quickly. Also, just reiterating some of the cons from other comments and what I find annoying about this jacket: ***the hood does not detach ***the zipper is not two-way ***there are only two degrees of tightness around the waist. The pre-fixed two levels worked for me, but, if you want to layer or otherwise would like to customize the tightness around the waist, you can't (which, if you need to size up for arms/back like me, then you also might want a tighter level so the rest of the coat isn't floating on you) It's a good product, a little pricey for the use, but still super cute. Depending on your needs, it could be a great addition to your wardrobe.

I really wanted to love this coat, but it was easy to let go of that dream since it was simply too small across the shoulders. I often get men’s coats because I have broad shoulders, but other north face garments have fit me in the large size. Not this. It will fit someone else and it seems like a nice jacket. Too bad the extra large is sold out in the dark colors.
