I'd love to give this bag 5 stars, but I found 2 reasons to knock it down to 4. I can't clip a pen in anywhere, the pockets inside just barely fit a medium length pen. Also, this is my major concern, I laptop is not protected by any padding on the side of the bag that faces out. You could easily damage a laptop if not careful. I have to by a sleeve, or install some padding so my laptop has padded protection on both sides.

I have been using this bag (size: medium) daily for 8 months. The materials are solid, the shoulder strap is comfortable, and the large main compartment can hold plenty. The lack of padding (especially on the bottom) has always been a concern of mine, even with a sleeve on my laptop. Also, the front pockets are sewn on top of each other, reducing their volume when in use. Overfilling a pocket will make it difficult to put anything in the one above it.

Still missing the crossbody strap that normally comes with it. Customer Service doesn't really respond ....

This is for my everyday schlep to work. The size is spot on (small but not to small). Material and construction is superb. I could nit pick that the interior is over divided (I don't carry a tablet or notebook). I would make the strap a tad longer (I'm 6'4") and the padded section should be removable.

I use this classic messenger bag during my daily commute to work and back home. Been a fan of Timbuk2-bags since I bought my first one. Definately a quality product made to last and well worth the money. Love the colours too.

I am always impressed with the quality of workmanship, and the sped in which the bag was received.

I've had a Timbuk2 bag for about 17 years, and I decided that it was time to get a new one. It was the best bag, but I thought I'd get one just a bit bigger. Haha, I got the 15 inch, and it's huge...way more space than I needed. It's a fantastic bag, but I should have gone with the 13 inch. Hands down, these are the best bags for an active lifestyle, travel, sneaking in snacks to movies, and even as a diaper bag.

This is my first Timbuk2 bag. I bought the extra small to force myself carry a lighter bag (and less stuff) back and forth to work and to give my back a rest from the heavy backpack I lugged everyday. The bag is great quality - strong material, smooth zippers, and strong clips. The velcro is almost too strong, though, and takes some force to pull the flap open. There are sufficient pockets for small items like keys, lip balm, wallet, and personal supplies. But I do want to emphasize that this bag is pretty small. I carry my iPad Air, a small pencil bag of chargers/adapters, a small bag of personal items, a few pens, and my planner and it is pretty much full. I wish the mesh water bottle pockets were outside the bag instead of inside - I don't really have room to carry a water bottle in there with all my other things. I also wish the key lanyard and clip were attached to the bag's main compartment (it is inside a small front pocket which, when full of your keys, can hold little else). My MacBook Pro 13" fits in the main compartment but not within the divided "padded" computer section. However, that section is not very padded so it doesn't really matter.
Overall, I really like the bag. It's exactly what I wanted and is succeeding at helping me carry a lighter bag back and forth to work. It fits very comfortably on my back and shoulder - definitely the most comfortable messenger bag I've every owned. It also looks really sharp.

Bag is exactly what I ordered. I think I got it a little longer than what I anticipated. I ordered an extra small and found I needed the small. So, I ordered a small messenger bag from your sale, and haven't heard about it being shipped at all. Ordered back on the 31st. My trip is on the 11th, so, I reckon I won't be able to use it by then. That's unfortunate.

Love the messenger bag size and quality. Only enhancement I could ask for is a pocket on the flap so i could access some storage on the go, without having to unclip to get into main compartment.

I love it!
I love the colors and the size is perfect for work and weekend activities (I got a medium). I would have given it 5 stars if it had an outside pocket on the side for water bottle.

Just the right size to stash my commuting requirements: papers, umbrella, lunch, water bottle, charger, etc. (I use another bag for my laptop.) Side pockets are well thought out. Two issues kept my rating at the 4 level: 1) massive amount of velcro on the flap is annoying, and 2) cloth strap I use to carry the bag is a lame handle.

I've had many Timbuk2 bags (messenger and bike bags) over the years and I love them -- great quality, durable, the right amount of organization, nice looking, etc. Decided to buy a small classic messenger bag for everyday use and I was happy to see that the clunky buckle of old had been updated to a new slimmer design -- until I used the bag. 1) The new buckle does not lock down very tightly and 2) the cord to unlatch the buckle is long and somehow, during my everyday activities while wearing it, ends up getting pulled so that at least once or twice a week the buckle comes loose and my bag slides out of position. Not the end of the world, or a deal breaker, since the bag isn't going to fall off my body but it is annoying. One could just use a safety pin to lock the little cord into a permanent position but if you're like me you like the option to adjust the length of the shoulder strap depending on what you're doing. My solution is to attach a safety pin with a strip of velcro to the buckle cord that I wrap around the whole shoulder strap to prevent it from releasing the buckle. This allows me to make adjustments to the shoulder strap length when I need to. That said I encourage Timbuk2's design team to keep working on a better buckle design since the bags themselves are top quality.

I use the bag daily for my laptop and a few other things. I am overly satisfied with the bag. The only downturn is the feeling that the bag material is not thick enough to protect the laptop inside from accidental bumps.

It is sturdy and It have its internal organizer but it has a paint like smell at being new and I don't like the idea of velcro for it may tear for using a long time unless it is covered with the warranty then I would love it.

The bag fits lots of stuff and sturdy enough. Suitable materials and design color. Although could use a bigger pocket for small stuff, I.e., pens/pencil. Could've to use the longer shoulder strap too. Other than that, it is an excellent bag.

I have an old classic (Large) for my daily work bag, but decided to get something much smaller to keep organized when travelling (i.e. Man Bag). So far this fits the bill. If required, my work laptop (14") will fit, but just barely and without the protective sleeve I normally keep it in. Perfect for iPad, phone, books, camera, gloves, hat, keys, etc. My only issue is the so called bottle pocket. It will probably stretch out a bit, but currently can't fit a typical bicycle water bottle circumference. That said, I usually just carry a Nalgene and throw it in the bottom. The strap is much nicer than the older version and easy to adjust on the fly.

I really like the bag, and I would recommend it to anyone. The only thing I had a problem with is the strap length. I am a huskier guy and because of that the strap isn't as comfortable. It is really close to my body, but I love the space and everything within the bag. I went with the large, I would say a medium is big enough, sometimes the large is just too much

The bag itself is great - very roomy (I upgraded from a M to a L bag). the ONLY complaint I have is that the shoulder strap can't be adjusted to my body as the padded strap is in the way. I may be too petite for it but I am making it work. If my bag is fuller (like winter time, with more bulky clothes) it won't be a problem.

This bag is the perfect everyday messenger bag for work. I love that it has an interior pouch for water bottles and a laptop divider. My main complaint is that the strap adjuster opens so easily. I've only had the bag a couple weeks, but when I'm wearing it, the tab often opens and the strap immediately slides out long and the bag drops down too low. I bought this bag as a long-term investment, but I'm worried this piece will not hold out as long as it should. Otherwise, a very nice, staple bag.

I have the size XS bag which can hold my tablet and most of what I need. My older bag has more storage areas and flaps to close them. The interior feels smaller and I can't carry the amount I could before. What I really like is that it's lighter and the straps and buckles are not industrial materials like on the old bag. I should have gotten a size S, but I needed it right away for a trip. Still a good bag.

It's a nice size for carrying my laptop (MacBook Air) and I like the bag a lot. But I'd love to see some improvements/changes: a light-colored interior to make it easier to find things, a zipper across the top, and no Velcro. It's impossible to open Velcro quietly in the middle of a meeting!

So I needed a lot of space. And I mean a lot.
As a senior in high school, I needed to be able to carry around 4, 2-inch binders, a 15-inch laptop, and 2 textbooks a day. I've found that large messenger bag is a physical anomaly.
I can carry all of this, with space to spare, without worry of something snapping off, ripping, or tearing. This being said, the fifty-million sleeves, pockets, and zipper-pouches also insure that I don't lose anything I value in this bottomless abyss.
But of course, this bag isn't perfect.
The only thing I can honestly say I hate, is the velcro. When I say the velcro is loud, I mean it sounds like someone is crushing up a bag of tortilla chips every time I open the bag. It gets me nasty looks on a regular basis, and is almost as annoying as the sound of binder rings snapping into place.
Another complaint I have is that the flap is quite small, and doesn't reach the end of the bag when it's empty, much less completely stuffed. It isn't a big issue, however, it does make carrying it look a but awkward.
My only other complaint is that I bought this item on sale, thus, it didn't come with a shoulder strap. It said this in the description (which I never read), however, and straps can be bought for $15.
All in all, I love this bag, and would completely recommend, and buy again.
