I can deal with items being too long but the fit was way too baggy for me. The pant leg at the knee was about 11 inches wide so basically felt like I was wearing poncho pants. A pro would be you wouldn't have any issue with movement but I sometimes go through thick brush and dont want to constantly snag myself.

These pants are described as DWR waterproof, unless you get caught in a heavy rain. The pocket on the right thigh has no mechanism to close the pocket (e.g. velcro, a zipper) and when the pants actually get (too) wet, the weight of the water pulls that pocket open and the pants become saturated.

Been wearing these North Face Convertibles for years. They were always 5 Star. Not anymore; the quality and design has declined. A rear pocket was eliminated and the side device pocket is pretty useless. Once you slide your phone in it is very difficult to remove. Also they replaced the slide lock buckle with a cheap substitute that is hard to engage and disengages whenever the belt loosens when you are actively moving around. When you have a perfect product, why change it? I'll be looking elsewhere from now on. On the other hand, shopping at Zappos (free shipping & returns) is definitely 5 Stars!

I got a few pairs back in the day. I liked them a lot. Very versatile and comfortable Unfortunately after trying the new models i opted for the old one. For some reason the size I chose was too big for a medium and too small for a medium as well.

I have been waiting for TNF to go back to 7" inseams on shorts. My old ones are wearing out. I see women's are getting shorter.

Fabric: The stiffest, most abrasive fabric I've ever worn, though I'm not a regular outdoorsman. Fit: My SM/30 pants were fine in waist, but enormous below. The two halves of the seat stuck out like twin rudders behind me. It seems like NF just took a pair of pants made for a MD/34 and cinched in the waist.

Besides the leg openings on the shorts being too small for comfortable hiking, the zippers on the bottom of the pants were too short for me to easily remove the unzipped bottoms over my hiking boots. I had to really work to get them off. Why couldn't they have made the zippers an inch or two longer; would it have killed their profit? Did they ever test these?

I have 32 inch waist and small frame and found these instead of relaxed very baggy. They had so much material I felt like I was swimming in them. Had to return them without using them.

Have bought about 10 pairs of the original paramount active pants and loved them. These do not fit the same and don't care for the new design. Also, I sent off 3 pairs for zipper or button issues and they did not warranty them or fix them but gave a $75 gift card which is 1/3 the cost of the pants.... not impressed! I assumed a zipper should last the lifetime of the pants or at least as long as the threads

I bought these for fishing out of my kayak so that I don't get soaked. They fit fine, light fabric, the pockets are nice and the zipper on the legs is good too. But the sole reason I went with these is they are advertised as water repellant...I got splashed by a fish and a small amount of water wound up on the seat, a minute later I was wet. I also knelt on the deck for about 5-10 seconds of my kayak, which had a very small amount of water on it, to get some gear out of my front hatch and when I sat back down my knee was soaked and I could feel water dripping down my leg. These might be better fitted for hiking in nice weather but they won't cut it when any kind of water is involved.

I have been wearing North Face Paramount pants for years and they are my favorite. However, I hate any pants or shorts that only have 1 back pocket. The new models of all North Face Paramount pants and shorts only have 1 back pocket. I can not wear any that have only 1 back pocket. I hate to switch brands as North Face has always been my favorite, but I am going to check out Columbia convertible pants as I know they have 2 back pockets with flaps!!

I have been buying these pants for years, pretty much all I wear! Needless to say I like them, primarily because of the huge cargo pockets that take a large cell phone easily. BUT ... I just ordered a pair or Regular length size Medium in Taupe because the Grey was not available a few weeks ago. Put them on and was surprised how tight they were in the waist compared to those that I already have. Too tight to wear comfortably. I laid them on top of one of my freshly laundered pair and sure enough, they are at least 1" -1.5" shorter in circumference around the waist! Probably these are being sourced from a new supplier and sizing is not same as it used to be, I'm guessing? Not sure what to do now because if I order large they may be too big. SO just saying if you have bought these in the past beware that sizing may be smaller in the waist now

I wear these for casual work while teaching. I have purchased numerous items for outdoor sports and recreational activities from North Face. They are always of great quality. These pants however, I wore them like 7-times and washed three times and on the bottom the fabric has little pull marks like from scraping. Not sure where or how I am not hiking in these but teaching. I have other North Face pants that was 15-years old that North Face has repaired the zipper and they look like new. This pair after washing a few times looks worn. No reason for this. Is North Face becoming just a popular "brand" rather than a quality outdoor supply?

Nice pants, but don't fit the same as the retail store does. Now I'm stuck with pants that don't fit or shipping charges and reordering a pair that actually fit

Pants fit perfectly in the store. Washed exactly as recommended and now I can't button the waist and the length is 1 1/2 inches shorter than before. Great pant but whoever heard of a synthetic fiber shrinking. North Face was of no help with why.

Bought these off the rack at Cabela's. I have the Paramount Peak II, and I love them. Wanted another pair in a different color. All they had were the Paramount Trail, so I figured, why not? Well, here's why not; first (and only) time I wore them, I went to put my wallet in my back left pocket, where I keep my wallet on ALL my other pants. Instead of sliding securely into its resting place, my wallet hit the floor. There is no back left pocket! What the heck? A utility/hiking/climbing/adventure pant with LESS storage? GENIUS MOVE, TNF! So, I put my wallet in the front cargo pocket, so it can slap my knee as I walk, and cause my pants to sag uncomfortably down and to the right. Not sure if the new wallet placement was a contributing factor, but going up a flight of stairs, I experienced a mini-wedgie with every step. The material feels good, the fit is ok, but these simple yet inexcusable design mistakes make this pant unwearable for me. They will be going back to Cabela's tomorrow.
