Good looking, casual pant. Morning hikes the long pants are out. About an hour or more into the trail when things start to warm up and the 10am sun hits, water, snacks, unzip the bottom legs that easily fit in a day pack or the deep pockets for a cooled off hike out.

In my opinion these ran a little large (my dad is normally a 38+ waist/xtra large and I bought them in a large for him). I bought them for my dad who also had the dark green pair from previous years (in the same size). He commented on how these were "different" than the others, but he still loves them. He especially likes the pockets. His one gripe is the belt comes apart easily. His solution was to wear a regular belt after cutting out the old one.

These pants are the best for backpacking. I was forced to return. The sizing system has changed for the ones I bought 3 years ago. The now say Regular for length instead of Medium. The length of the Medium is about an inch longer than that of the old Reg length. The old Reg was already pushing it on length for me. Be aware you may now be shorter than you were several years ago, ha.

I am very pleased with the quality, look and feel of these pants. I have an older version and they are my go-to pants for rainy and windy days during winter months, as well as my favorite for summer evenings paired with sandals. My only complaint is that The North Face, like most other companies, has continued down the "skinny jeans" road and decreased the cuff diameter at least an inch compared to my older pair. I prefer my pants to sit over my shoes. Even with the leg zips, the narrow ankle look is not appealing. Overall, I still love the Paramount style and quality.

The slants are completely waterproof. Awesome for those rainy days. They are very light and comfortable. They don't suffocate you and make you sweat either. Very breathable material. They look great for everyday use. I didn't get a chance to use them as shorts yet as the bottom legs unzip. The only issue I have with them is that they are very baggy. But that just makes them more comfortable. I definitely recommend them for the rainy weather.

I love the convertible pants. The style is a little baggy, which isn't a knock, but changes how I would use the pants. I use the newer version of these pants for fashion, everyday, and hiking in area I may have to change to shorts. These pants, I would use for camping sleepwear, or maybe as everyday pants where I might layer underneath with a base layer due to the looser fit. They are super comfy and light. I'm a fan.

Needed to reduce the amount of clothing that I take backpacking, this kills two birds with one stone. The fact that it's water resistant is almost a third!

These are "Relaxed Fit" and of the 3 brands ordered [including Columbia Silver Ridge & White Sierra Convertible] are the only pair that fit my derriere.
Would have preferred the lighter weight material of the other two brands but these are fine.

These pants are nice for hiking. They are a little bigger than I expected (around the waste and they are slightly baggy) but they don't need to be stylish for hiking. The zippers to turn them into shorts are easy to use and don't get caught.

Overall I liked these pants. Used these hiking in SE Asia. They seemed to fit well around the waist when first tried on but with moisture, they expanded and became loose. The belt incorporated did not help to tighten very much. They were a bit long, even when buying the short but this tends to be a problem for me in most things. They were comfortable though and did keep me dry when it rained. I liked the zip area in the ankles.

These hiking pants are well made and attractive, but I find them to be too baggy in the seat. I kept them because I like the overall look, fit, and durability. The North Face makes great products.

This is the second pair of paramount pants I've bought and I really like them. My first pair was a little too long, so when I purchased my second pair I went with the short inseam and they fit far better (i.e., less baggy at the bottom on the legs). My only comment for improvement of the latest paramount pants is that the "cargo" pockets are situated more towards the front of the thigh, which results in items sometimes shifting awkwardly to the front of the leg rather than remaining on the side, which slightly impacts freedom of movement.

Use it for hiking and backpacking. Unfortunately the fit is to baggy, in my opinion, around the legs. Could be just a tad more tapered/fitted.

I generally hike March to December and recently the cooler months have seen a lot of wet weather. These pants, along with waterproof boots, were meant to keep my bottom half free from the elements and still be comfortable. My first impression was that the pants felt like good quality, seemed airy, and were a little baggy. I've now hiked with them and I like them a lot more than I thought I would. They don's chaff, they keep me completely dry, and allow for a large range of motion. I haven't had to use them as just a short yet, but it's nice to have that option once the weather gets warmer. As a person who lives in CT, ticks are a concern, and the asphalt grey is too dark to wear if you're concerned about scanning for those lovely critters. Overall, I am well pleased with the performance. I would like the pant to be a little tighter fit, and I made the mistake of not getting a lighter color, but overall these have performed well for me thus far.

The pants are quite solid, and I look forward to using them on the various hiking trips planned this year. Only sour note is that the waste has restricted elasticity. Need to lose an inch or so and they will fit much more comfortably. They are much more relaxed below the waste.

I really like these pants with just a few minor criticisms. 1. They eliminated the small zippered key pocket. 2. I have had to return several older pairs for repair because the stitching ripped in the crotch and the nylon zipper failed. But that's where the lifetime warranty is of great benefit. Northface has repaired every pair free of charge. 3. I'm not thrilled by how the front pocket openings are designed.

The color, fit and high North Face Quality were all as expected.
Although, I was hoping some of the other color options would also be placed on sale as this was.
