This is my second version of the paramount (I bought my first pair ten years ago). I didn't like the paramount III design or the way it felt and was actually looking for another brand until I saw these. For those who like the original or even the paramount II, you will be happy with these. They are very similar in the design and feel although they are missing a back left pocket. The front pockets are quite big and I think the cargo pockets are bigger the the original's. Just so you know, I'm a little over six feet and weigh about 185, and the medium long fit perfectly.

I used these to hike 14 miles in the Grand Canyon. In the morning it was 35 degrees and in the afternoon in the canyon it was 80 degrees. I was comfortable the entire time. Lots of good pockets too, some zippered and some not. Good for options.

I needed a new pair of convertibles after my old pair of North Face, probably 15+ years old, died of abuse. Went from the cold Northeast to the Caribbean and especially wanted a transition pants. These worked fantastic. The material is not too light or not too heavy. The fit was dead on and the belt is not too big and bulky or not too light and flimsy. These pants are Goldilock pants -- they're "Just right."

These pants are very high quality. I've had a pair last 2 years with heavy use. Very comfortable and well made.

Best fitting pants I have ever owned. I have bout six pairs of the Paramount(s) to date. The quality of each has been perfect as has been the fit. The color is always stable after many washings. The comfort is much better than loose fitting jeans and no ironing required in most cases. Would highly recommend them for anyone who travels, at work and any type of play. Very impressed.

I needed a new pair of pants with zip off legs. Outdoors in the mornings and evening I need the legs, but as the day warms up I like to zip them off to make shorts without a major change. These are a little stiff at first but I am hoping they soften up with some washing and wearing. Great design on all the pockets and stitching. They have some water repelling properties and will block a chill breeze. Seem very durable and should last a long time.

The waist sizing was more tight that I anticipated. I normally wear a size 34 waist and I found these to just tightly accommodate that size.

I am into trekking and hiking and need versatile and durable pants. I now have 3 pairs. I travel in them and trek in them. I won't wear anything else.

First off these are my very favourite pants, I have wearing and buying these for years and medium size regular length has always fit me perfectly. Until the last two pair I bought recently, they are much too tight to the point of being uncomfortable! Since my weight/size hasn't changed I suspected the pants have. Took a flexible seamstress tape and measure around the waist from the clasp to the corresponding clasp. The previous versions I have are all around 37.5 - 38", as also are some Outdoor Research pants that I have. The new size mediums I got of these are only 34", 3.5" - 4" less!!! Fortunately North Face has excellent return policy so I returned and although medium is my size in most things I will order a pair of size large and see how they fit. So heads up if you are on the upper size of medium waist range the medium in these may be be too tight for you

6'2 and 42" waist needed XXXL/TTTG. I bought 2 pairs for a 3 week vacation, wish i had bought more so i could just wear these every day. Weather was in the 50s and 60s and these were great. Threadwork is a little messy in a few spots. Can be too snug in crotch if they have ridden up a bit before you sit down.

I wanted to like these pants but the fit just want right. They appear to be made of strong material great for hiking or trekking and the zip off legs are great! I usually wear a 29 x 30 but these were a bit long and extremely baggy. The length would have been ok to deal with but I'm not sure why they are so baggy, and I have large legs too.

Pants fit great around the waist. I ordered an XL - Regular. I'm 6' tall and a regular should be fine. However, when I tried these on, there was at least 3" to 4" too long.

I have many pair of these pants from the past years. This update has good and bad. The good: the left lower cargo pocket is zippered and slanted, which is very handy to use. The back right pocket is also zippered as well, and done well. The bad: The top front pocket used to have a zippered small pocket right next to it, that is gone in this update, with a smaller and less usable version in its place. Also the logo that is embossed on the left pant leg feels super weird when you brush your arm up against it and takes some getting used to, so you don't feel like you just spilt something on you. Otherwise, fit and feel is pretty similar to the past versions. The mid gray version I ordered is definitely different, and not everyone will like it, it is very light and won't combine well with just any shoes/shirts, but it is nice to have some different color options from the past.

Stylish enough to wear day to day, but rugged enough for the trails. Love the fact they are convertible for weather changes and light enough to dry out fast. Elastic waist allows for more freedom of movement. Sizes listed on page are misleading. They run waaay big. Otherwise thumbs up .

Definitely a great product for someone who spends a lot of time in the mountains or the woods. This product will hold up to the abuse with its tough construction but won't leave you dragging a bunch of extra weight. The one drawback is that the pant feels slightly too long. That can easily be fixed with hemming, though
