Living in Florida, we donot use the jacket that much / long. When walking in a warm drizzle for a short while the jacket is nice and pretty good for breathability, but when walking for a longer period one does not stay dry inside :-(

The jacket in the picture has a dark gray solid interior....I really wanted a simple all black inside and out, not too much to ask for, figured the pictured one was close enough. The one I received was white with small black polka-dots inside all throughout, not even close to what was pictured.
Also I agree with another post that it does feel as though it is cheap and I would fear that the littlest sharp object would rip right through the coat without problem (hopefully that would be covered by the lifetime guarantee tho).
I dont get how companies as big and reputable as North Face could not have their products accurately pictured and described. I know it is always a risk with online shopping but it is super frustrating to have to wait the 3-4 days for the product then get something completely different than the picture and then have to go through the return shipping.

I bought this for my husband (in Rome at the North Face store). While the fit is fine, we wanted something very waterproof, as he is outside in the elements for work. I have the Kids (boys) version of the jacket and I like mine a lot. This jacket is water resistant IT IS NOT WATER PROOF. It is water resistant in light and mild rain. The inside material at the bottom hem of the pockets absorbs moisture, soaking anything in your pockets in rain a medium rain. In heavy rain, the entire jacket absorbs and transfers water to your clothes. He has just come home form work soaking wet and I really regretting the money I paid for this jacket. The kids version I own has mesh pockets and while the material is even less breathable it is more waterproof than this much more expensive adult version. If you are truly going to wear this outdoors in heavy rains, this is not the jacket for you. You wold be better off cutting a hole in a garbage bag and wearing that.
It's hard to tell from the photos but they show the entire jacket soaked through from front to back, inside and out. You can see how the pocket fabric absorbs water.

Best suited for short walks in a light drizzle. Couldn't handle more than 5 minutes of heavy rain without complete soak through, rendering it useless for anything other than an emergency pack coat.

I am not very happy with this jacket. I am not out ins super heavy rain but it still soaks through. The fabric on the inside is also very tough and does not have good breathablity

I purchased this Tall jacket as a replacement to my warrantied North Face Venture Parka. I am 6'3" and the old Parka version was a perfect fit. The length on the Venture Tall was OK but still a little short for my taste. The problem is that the sleeves are way too long (same as Sam from Boston review). I have a fairly long arm length and the sleeves are a good 3" inches too long. I would ask North Face to reengineer the proportions on this jacket or please offer the Parka version once again for us taller folks. thanks.

I don't own one of these, but I've tried on a couple. On both of them I was not able to zip up the pit zips while wearing the jacket. It just wasn't happening. That's a deal-breaker for me. It's also very noisy and I would like it better if it had a mesh lining.

At best, water resistant.
After 45 minutes in a light rain, the shirt I was wearing under this jacket was very nearly soaked. It kept me dry for perhaps the first 10 minutes.
If it were actually as waterproof as it claims, I would totally recommend it. But as it stands, only buy it if keeping you dry isn't one of the things you need it to do.

The jacket is great as a stand-alone or with a fleece underneath if the temperature is low.
It helps with the wind and the rain. The hood is great and keeps the rain off my glasses.

I was super stoked to get this jacket at first as it had been my first non $40 rain coat. However, the jacket doesn't hold out rain, even for a 20 min jaunt down the street. I've had it replaced 3 times now, all over a span of a year, and every single one fails to live up to expectations for rain protection so I've given up on that.
Outside of wet weather, the jacket is fairly comfy until you undo the armpit zips and then the jacket bunches up in the front. You can also get cheaper jackets from North Face that work well as a windbreaker and are more comfy.
Bottom line, the Nail Yakupov of jackets. Looked good in the beginning but now I can't trade it for a pack of chewing gum.

Unfortunately a disappointment. This jacket performed well above zero degrees, but between 0 and -13 and gale in the mountains I got dew and/or ice on the inside - even when using it with FULL ventilation and only moderate motion : cross-country with a 6 kilo light rucksack. I sweat no more than is usual, I think... ;-) On the pro side: It is VERY wind-proof.

This product needs to be listed as a rain jacket. I bought the jacket to potentially ski with based on the description and it did not meet my expectations.

I purchased 28 of these jackets. I am very disappointed with the result of how they looked. I had no idea the hood on the jacket was not stowable therefore I just wasted $3000 on the jackets. Period. Very upsetting!

Almost everything about the jacket is great - the fit leaves the perfect amount of room in the shoulders, arms, and chest. I have the dark blue, the color looks really great. However I have 2 big problems with this - the pockets aren't deep at all, and stuff falls out if you don't zip them all the way. The length is also way too short. I'm 6'1" 175 lbs and the jacket sits above my waist. I knew 28" length would not be long by any means, but I wasn't expecting that short.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
Not so waterproof, which is a problem with a "waterproof" jacket. Current heavy rains soaked through the jacket even though it's less than a year old. Sad.
