This jacket looks ridiculous. The inner lining is a bright white color which is a drastic contrast from the outer shell color that I chose which is a dark gray color. Additionally, it feels thin and cheap-it feels just like the material from which it was made from: recycled bottles. Especially costing >$100.

I purchased my first North Face rain jacket 12 years ago. I love that jacket and it has been all over Europe and even Central America. The inner lining is literally flaking away causing me to find a new one, much to my chagrin. I thought it would be no big deal. I hate this new jacket. It feels absolutely cheap. Quality of the material just is not there. It also does not contain an inner phone pocket over the left breast area like my old one does which is just irritating. Will not purchase North Face any longer and will stick to better brands such as Patagonia.

I was really disappointed when my boyfriends put this on Christmas morning and the fit was terrible. It was square shaped and the hood was incredibly shallow, not good for a rain coat. We returned it.

Great product, I would purchase from another vendor just for the simple careless nature of service, read below.

After a few wears in the rain, I noticed that water would soak thru the material relatively quickly. Not good.

This jacket was so thin - might provide protection for a light summer mist but not at all appropriate for anytime in the fall. It also made a sound like paper rustling.

Seems like a well made jacket and probably good quality but the sleeves are unusually long. The body fits like a men's xs should fit me, a 5'4 female 120lbs but the sleeves extend WAY past my fingertips and I already have long arms so it seems like a mistake in the tech team or with production. returning.

I bought two, one ladies for my wife and one mens for me. For some unknown reason they have different craftsmanship and materials even though they are the same model. Hers is much beter quality and seems really waterproof. Mine is a lot lighter material and was soaked on the first rain. Sizes run big. We had to exchange both for a smaller size than ewe usually buy.

I returned a Maramot jacket for this exact reason. The cinch cords do not work in the hem or the hood. Are these tested? I get that it's relaxed fit so you can layer but why is it SO long? If the hem cord worked then this wouldn't be that much of a problem, but it doesn't and I'll be returning.

I have been using TNF gear for over 30 years. I am an Eagle Scout and have considered myself to be a TNF fan. This jacket has not met my expectations. It is simply not as breathable as advertised. It may be great for someone who is running out to the car and needs a light jacket, or for a grandparent cheering on their favorite little-leaguer, but under mild aerobic activity, it ends up feeling like wet rubber against any exposed skin. It is about as breathable as a plastic trash bag. It looks great and it definitely works well as a windbreaker, but it is constantly frustrating as a rain jacket. If this is the new standard for TNF gear, I will be looking for gear elsewhere from now on. This jacked does not make me a happy camper. Also, TNF, your comment on the packing slip is jam-packed with misspellings and incomplete sentences. At the very least, you should learn to spell "repelled" when referencing your lab tests.

This jacket has some nice features, but overall I'm not a fan and sent it back despite really wanting to keep it. If you look at the other jackets on this site, the common thread is the sleeves are way too long and this holds true here. I'm not sure what sort of body NorthFace is modeling its arm length on, but it doesn't seem to be mere mortals like me. The chest fit my stocky frame nicely, but the sleeves are so long that it's difficult to cinch the wrist tight enough to keep water out. Also not that breathable, felt a good bit like a sauna fairly quickly. Nice cosmetically, bonus that it's packable, but just not good enough.

I had the resolve jacket a while back which had a mesh interior lining. This jacket does not have that. It's just the plastic waterproof lining which feels gross and clammy on your skin, especially if you happen to sweat a little while hiking or something. I returned it. I like the jacket but TNF needs to put the mesh lining back in to put a barrier between you and the plastic lining

A typical problem I have with most North Face products is that the sleeves are always a little too long. Generally I can get away with just rolling it up a little, and it doesn't look/feel weird. However, with this jacket, the sleeves are way too long (like 5-6 inches). This makes it extremely awkward and uncomfortable to wear. Unfortunately I missed the return window.

Really loved this jacked and it was met all expectations, but I haven't even had the jacket for a month yet and it was I think my third time using the hood for wet weather and the hood bungee for the back came out of the hood. You can see that there are only two tiny treads that hold this in. Tried to run the bungee back in but it just won't go. I could maybe see this happening after a lot of use, but not before using it less than half a dozen times

It is a well made product like almost all of The North Face products. My only issue is with the fabric. It really doesn't breath at all, as far as I can tell. Even with the armpit zips open you will be soaked from the inside out in no time. Obviously there is a cost benefit with this product over goretex but if you have concerns with breathability I would not recommend this one! I just walked about 2km and I am sitting here drenched.

This jacket would be great as a waterproof outer layer but that's about it. Feels as thin as a newspaper and didn't feel very wind resistant. Normally, I wear a large size in anything because my torso is pretty long. Once I put on the jacket, the torso length was fine but felt very wide. Also, the sleeve length went past my fingertips and didn't feel very proportioned. Would not recommend if you're looking for a waterproof, warm, casual jacket.

I bought this jacket for my husband, but it was very light weight and not what I was looking for. The material was about the same thickness as a day tent - very thin. It would be good for a light rain jacket, but that's not what husband needed. I returned it via mail return on 12 March and as of 22 March and still waiting for refund - receiving the item in the mail was very quick, though.

I really like the idea of this jacket and wish that they had designed this as more of a normal fit. I love my men's medium Thermoball jacket and thought this would be a great upgrade so I ordered a medium. Unfortunately the medium was way too small even with just a t-shirt under it. It fits nothing like other mediums I have from The North Face... So I returned the medium and ordered a large. Unfortunately the large was still too small. I was able to fit a thing long sleeve under it, but it still restricts movement and looks weird as it fits too snug in odd areas. I would try an extra large but the sleeves would be too long, I am 5' 8" and weight 180 lbs. At this point I will look for another option because this jacket will not fit me correctly with my average size and body build. I would absolutely love this jacket if the design and fit were changed to fit as other TNF pieces do. This just seems to be an inconsistent piece for what I expect from my favorite brand.

Went for a 2 hour hike with light rain in 40 degree weather, had it not been for my sweater underneath I would have been drenched. Took this out in light rain to see how long it took for the inside to get wet. Did my first check at 20 minutes and noticed water seeping through it. On both occasions my shirt and base layer were dry so i know it wasn't sweat. Do not rely on this to keep you dry, because it won't.
