In the description of the men's venture 2 rain jacket it states the jackets outter she'll is ripstop fabric. . It claims this in the 'product features' and 'product specifications' sections, respectfully. I was surprised and caught off a guard a bit that the Dark Heather version does not feature a ripstop fabric as it now appears that only the light grey version actually has ripstop fabric. Beyond all of this I must say the quick free shipping, good packaging and the fit and finish of the product are top notch and first class. I just wish tnf was a little more selective with verbage and more accurate with their descriptions of their products. I dislike buying one thing and being delivered something that's different. So 2 stars off for that. I will do a follow up with wear/tear in 6 months-1 year..

I returned this product. It felt like you were wearing an old school slicker. Not very comfortable on the skin.

I really like the quality of the material and the design of the cuffs, the hood, and the pockets. This seems like a very well-made and durable jacket.
However, I found the fit to be too baggy overall, especially in the sleeves. As a result, I ended up sending the jacket back.

i was looking for a jacket to replace an old hooded sweatshirt I was keeping in my backpack when needed. The venture 2 jacket was not exactly what I was expecting but i think I'm talking myself into it. I had a day that poured rain. You know the one where you are soaked just from the walk to your car. I'm sure this jacket would have been fantastic in that situation if it had not taken 15 days from the time I ordered to be delivered. But I I am liking the jacket. Can just take the chill off if the A/C is up too high and is much lighter than the old hooded sweatshirt I used to keep in my backpack. Have not had a chance to test in the rain yet but seems to have all the features you would expect of this type of jacket.

The jacket is good for what I needed it for, but was a little oversized in the body area. I'm sure it's so it can fit over other jackets, but I wasn't a big fan. Still did what I needed it to do so overall I'm very content with having this jacket in an emergency.

This is a relaxed fit jacket and seems to run large. Would be good over a fleece maybe. Fit Finder recommended XL (6' 3" 200 lbs.). I'd order L next time. I found if you tighten up the sleeve velcro strips the sleeve will sit at your wrists. I'd rather have the sleeves too long rather than too short in a rainstorm. I bought it for a trip to Ireland. The fabric seems flimsy and I expected a lining which it doesn't have. The description on the website says it has pit-zip breathability. I don't see any pit zips of any sort. So I'm wondering if I got what I ordered. The waterproof ability will be proven very soon. If it doesn't perform as advertised I'll be returning this jacket. Will update in a couple of weeks. Hoping for good results.

I'm 6'5", 210 lbs. I ordered the tall. It was even too tall for me. The sleeves were down over my palms! The body fit well though. And it looked nice. The hood adjustments were good, as were the pit zips.

I needed a nice raincoat for work and this is a very nice jacket. Keeps me dry and warm however I bought a light gray color and it looks filthy after a half day of working. If I knew it was going to attract this mich dirt I would have gotten it in black. I only recommend this in black color

I think Northface has great quality products but they seem to be made for slender people. My son tried on a small and it fit but the arm length was too long, the extra small wouldn't go around him. Disappointed:(

My previous Venture jacket was purchased in 2012 and still going strong. I decided to purchase a new one as there have been some great colors released lately. Unfortunately I was disappointed when this jacket arrived.. my previous jacket fit perfectly in the body and arms, had the correct length, and stretch cuffs. This new jacket is extremely boxy, a much longer length, and the only way to adjust the cuffs is a strip of Velcro. This is very unfortunate as this seems to be an attempted upgrade of the jacket but it was perfect before.. I love the new colors but I wish they would have kept the old cut and lengths, and especially the stretch sleeve cuffs. I guess I will return this and stick with ol faithful.

Could be a tad more generous cut across the belly. Have no idea why the arm length is simian proportioned.

Returned because everything I wear in The North Face is always Med, but felt I was swimming in a Large. Also, I think they came out with a lighter version recently. I think I'll try that one.

I didn't expect it to be so thin. No worries I exchanged it at a northface store here in Chicago, and got a better jacket.

I expected the jacket to have a little more substance (weight) however I enjoy it very much I wear it over a sweater.

I am disappointed in the jacket. Deciding if I should return. It is very noisy and crunchy sounding. I bought 3 and all 3 people that I gave them to said how noisy they are, would prefer a softer, quiet jacket/

I like this jacket because its stylish and its good quality, but the sleeves were too long. The torso of the jacket fit fine, but the sleeves went past my fingers. They make an extra small, but its never in stock online or in any of the six stores near me.
