expected a heavier weight for cold weather. Very thin-great for wind/rain but not cold.

I purchased two North Face Venture Rain Jackets in June 2015. One for myself, the other one for my wife.
Mine is in the colour of NF Black/TNF Black/Monster Blue. By the time of writing this review (Nov 2015), I have worn it less than 15 times. The inside blue inner lining around the collar looks already peeled off. The white material under the blue paint/coating can be seen at various spots. Now the jacket looks ugly if hood is not put on.
Is this normal wearing, or should I send it to North Face for repairing or replacing?
My wife's TNF Black/Glo Pink colour Venture looks still perfect though...

As soon as it came out of the box I was very excited. I put it on and the waist is exactly how I like, shoulders very nice and then I realize the sleeves are 2-3 inches too long. this was a medium so I got a small and the waist is tighter than I like but you get used to it. and just tight in the upper back and the sleeves are still about an inch too long

First of all this jacket is just absolutely great! I live in Seattle and commute a lot therefore I get poured on a lot and this is just my go to jacket in the rain. I love the color (I have a blue/darker blue 2 tone) and it keeps me dry. However I made this comment not only for this jacket but for all their jackets. See, I am a big Northface fan. I have 3 Northface jackets: nuptse vest, apex bionic, and venture. All of them are all 5 stars in functionality but Northface's problem is their size. I'm an average sized guy, 5.6ft. 137 lbs but all their jackets are too baggy! Their small isn't small enough. If I only went for functionality then I would keep buying Northface but style to me also plays a role.
I hope Northface creates a XS for men because their missing a huge chunk of the market for guys who require a better fit. Fit is such a big part of my buying preference that I actually moved on to other brands such as Arcteryx because they have good products and most importantly a better fit. I really hope there will be changes, till then I'm not buying Northface jackets.

Actually I would recommend item if interior lining didn't fail prematurely. The item performs well but the lining failure and the pants shiny appearance after approximately seven to ten washings leads me to believe that the product just doesn't hold up after time. Otherwise, I would recommend.

I've owned two of these. In both cases the lining started peeling in the hood after about a year's use, and within a month had gotten real grotty. I'm not into having to buy a new one every year. Secondly, the earlier version of this the inside pocket netting extended down to the hem creating too large "bin" or "bucket" or "magazine" pockets - the main reason I bought the jacket, in the city these kind of pockets especially convenient for books and shopping In the current version, they took that extended netting out and you're left with only two hand-pockets. Other than that, the jacket looks great, the waterproof is great. Now if they reinstated the bucket pockets and fixed the peeling I'd be happy to buy another.

i was disappointed in how harsh the black color is (I couldn't tell from the internet picture): I bought it to replace a soft-black one whose lining started to disintegrate. I don't remember how the pockets were on the old one. the new one has two side mesh pockets that sit loosely inside the jacket. I mistakenly thought they WERE inside pockets. My first outing, I was running shopping errands, dropping my credit-card receipts and some money into the left "pocket" only to realize, when I got home, that all my credit-card receipts plus $7 were missing. It seems North Face could have designed the side pockets so they would also function as inside pockets: THAT would have been a design worthy of NF (I have an NF tent and sleeping bag, both of which I think are super). I'll be leery of buying their clothes again.

Had this jacket for about 6 years and really like it. It's my go-to jacket when it's raining hard. When it's warm out I wear it over my T-shirt. When it's colder I wear it as a top layer. But several years ago the liner started peeling, especially in the neck and hood area. What a mess. I don't wear the jacket long enough to have it effected by sweat, lotions, hair cream, etc. It's going back for a warranty repair/replace and I'm hoping TNF honors the warranty.
I didn't think of this until I read some other, reviews but the hood is way to large. When I need to use it I have to have one hand keep it from falling over my face. Maybe TNF will replace my jacket with one with an improved lining and a smaller hood. I certainly hope so.

Basic rain jacket. Good for a summer or spring rain. Not recommended for anything under 60 degrees. & definitely not if it's windy. Not a windbreaker strictly for warm rainy dats

I had a NF jacket that seems identical that was about 7-8 years old that i was a bit disappointed in in that the arms started to leak - got wet thru the arms and the lining seemed to flake. Ordered the new one thinking it was different, but I think it's the same. Not sending back, but willing to try again. Good breathability and comfort on the trail and other than the problem of my older jacket as noted, in general kept me dry.

QUESTIONABLE DURABILITY... two pieces with the same problem!
Over time, the lining begins to fall apart and the piece becomes useless, while the outside remains intact.

Material is a little thinner than expected, but the main thing is the size is too big for an XS. It's the same size as a normal men's S. Very disappointed.

What's up with NF sizes?
The sleeve lengths on XS are too big. It was supposed to be 33.5 inches. But in actuality it's 36 inches. The XS size is built for a 6 ft person who weighs 150 lbs.
The jacket itself is good, and feels comfortable.
Unfortunately I'll have to return it because of the poor fit.

The jacket is only ok. I really want a rain jacket to wear in summer rain. This one is almost unbearable. But I need something and couldn't find anything any better.

I love how light weight it is and it's perfect for packing but the zippers are absolute trash and simply pull apart. For that reason alone I do not recommend this product.

The bright white lining looks ridiculous when you're wearing the jacket partially unzipped. It will make you sweat because of its material: plastic.
