A friend with MS who needed reliable, sturdy shoes for walking raved about this hiking shoe. I don't hike, but I do have a knee problem that has made my stability less than ideal. So I was looking for walking stability for my non-work and weekend running around, and sneakers just weren't stable enough. Well, these shoes were comfortable right out of the box, I've worn them for two solid days with nary a blister, ache, or wobble, and my knee actually hurts less today (in fact, I hated to have to put "regular" shoes for work this morning). However, I did come right to the Merrell site and order the same shoes in the Gore-Tex waterproof version to use as my winter boots. Merrell comes through again--thank you!

I have an older pair of these and I use them for hiking. They are perfect for this purpose. These Merrell boots fit my foot which is a narrow width.

LOVE theses Moab's! I wear a 5 1/2 and it is true to size. Excellent arch support, deep heel cup and substantial footbed for hiking the White Mountains. Very pleased with my purchase.

Just got back from my trip in Mexico. They actually arrived the day I was leaving.,and had absolutely no time to "break them in." I did just fine coming and going! I've never owned a pair of Merrell's. And I had zero aches and pains and I was walking everyday 9+ hours! The shoes lived up to their expectations! As soon I put them on it felt as if they were molded to fit my foot and only my foot!

No seriously, I should be the poster child for Merrells. Was forced to buy a pair of Columbia's a year ago (isolated location with limited selection) and have stubbornly worn them ever since. I have great arches and have never had issues with my feet but found my feet fatigued and in pain in these shoes. I attributed it to my age (44) and pushed on. Yesterday, just as stubbornly, I went on a brick and mortar search for Merrell's- I enjoy online shopping but sometimes you just gotta try 'em on! Bought a pair of Moab's and oh, my, gosh. All pain in my heel and fatigue vanished, I swear these shoes are correcting the damage I've likely done to my feet wearing compromising shoes. My feet were saying "Go go go!" No kidding, never again will I compromise in this area. Only surprisingly thing was that the sizes seemed to run big- I normally wear a 10 and was swimming in them, a 9.5 was perfect though, glad I insisted on a store, usually my Merrell's are a perfect fit at 10. Great shoes!!!

My foot is a true 8, but wide width. I usually order an 8.5 W but I took a chance. The 8W fit perfectly. They are so comfortable, and good looking.

After reading reviews I decided to buy MOAB 2 Mother of all boots. No wonder they have the title. When I first wore them on a hiking trip I couldn't believe how comfortable they were. I walked in mud, up hills, over rocks without having any issues. Oh, the laces did untie so I double knotted them to prevent mishap from laces. In addition, I purchased these shoes and wide width because of bunion on my right foot. No pain was experienced while wearing them or after wearing them. I would highly recommend them. Sizes run normal. Wide width is wide and comfortable!

I would like to thank merrel shoes moab waterproof for my successful mountain climbing at yosimite! At first, i thought my feet will get hurt because that was my first time to wear my new shoes. I am 7.5 size but i ordered 8, so that there's space for thick socks and in case my feet gets tired, it can easily get some air. And guess what! I didn't feel any pain on my toes. It really fits on my feet!

My favorite athletic shoe! I've been wearing New Balance for many years. After researching and really honing in on the search, I found this brand. The thing I like best is firm sole. I am fairly heavy and this shoe gives me excellent support especially for hiking in rough terrain. The fit was excellent for me; a little wide in a good and comfortable way. The material quality is excellent and long lasting. I've had mine for well over a year and coming back to buy another pair. I also have high arches and wish there was more arch support, or a high arch version would be nice.

I have wide feet and I am going to Arizona in a few weeks and plan to hike some of the Grand Canyon. I was so afraid I wasn't going to find anything that even fit my feet. I just tried these on right out of the box and I can tell they are perfect. I really didn't think C width was going to work (believe it or not I sometimes wear extra wide in things like dress shoes). Now I just need to test them outdoors and break them in. Thanks Merrell!

I have been wearing Merrell Moabs as my everyday shoe for over 20 years. They fit my feet very well. Over the years, I have seen changes to the basic Moab design and the Moab 2 is no exception, but it still remains a great shoe for my feet.

I decided to try these shoes as I needed a supportive everyday shoe after having major foot/ankle surgery. I ended up ordering them through a local shoe store in the Castlerock and Aluminum/Marlin Colors. Would have Preferred my second pair to be the Smoke Color as I was told that this color was discontinued by the the shoe store's distributor but at least I got my Castlerock pair like I wanted. It's all good :).

Wore these shoes hiking in Newfoundland. They are the most comfortable shoe I've worn hiking and walking. They kept my feet cool, dry and on the trail with excellent traction. Love that they are available in a wide width.

I'm so disappointed with this new version of the Moab Ventillator. It sure doesn't feel at all like the previous years' model. It's much firmer inside and has a weird, solid arch contact that hurts. The forefoot doesn't feel padded, just hard. The fit & width was perfect, though, for my usual size 7Wide in a Merrell. I decided to keep wearing my old Ventillators for a while longer - they feel much better!
I'd also recommend:

My son and I did a trip to Tanzania hiking to Elephant Caves, walking through high and low grass on 3 Safari's with many long days walking through Stone Town. These boots worked amazingly right out of the box! Light and cool will worth the investmenr. My brother who is a professional explorer that also takes groups on unique one of a kind adventures recommended these boots to us and he was spot on.

I have tried all the low hiking boots on the market, and am so relieved to finally find a pair that is wide enough for my moderate bunion. I am normally a size 8, but I had to go into a 9W in this boot. I have always had wide feet, but the bunion adds to the wideness. The boot is surprisingly not too long for my foot. The length is perfect. They are lightweight enough. They feel kind of clunky walking around my house, but no more so than any other hiking boot. I removed their insole and put my custom orthotics in, and I have plenty of room in the toe box. I have not gone hiking yet to really put them to the test. When I do, I will update my review.
