I had read these run wide, so I initially purchased a 1/2 size smaller, but when I got them, they felt short. When I got my usual size they felt a bit wide in the toe, but nothing to be bothered by. My Achilles pain got immediate relief. Haven't used them much yet, but so far so good.

I tried this shoe in size 8 Wide (my usual size) but the toe box felt a bit tight with my orthotics, so I went up a half size. The 8.5 Wide fit comfortably with orthotics. I’ve now walked miles every day in this shoe right out of the box. No break in period was required.

My first thought when slipping these shoes out of the box: Ahhh!!! When I get new shoes I usually wear them indoors, walking, walking. Should I keep them? Should I send them back? Not these shoes. Wonderfully boxy toe area, and a neutral tone that I prefer [being of a certain age]. I am back on Zappo's site now to order a second pair of these exact shoes, plus try to find the equivalent shoe in waterproof style. Shoes are heavier than some others in the hiking category.

These shoes were comfortable right out of the box - with my custom footbeds inserted - but I wanted to wait until I had worn them a few times before reviewing. I wear a solid 9.5W, needing the width in the toe box due to Morton's Neuromas. I wore these on a five mile hike after having just worn them around the house for a few hours and they were very comfortable. I'd been looking for a hiking shoe for over a year, having given up on Keen due to quality and warranty/customer service issues, so I was very happy to find these!

I have wide feet but I was able to wear a medium width with most Merrells that I've bought. As I get older, it seems I definitely need a wider shoe and a bit longer. I was hesitant in ordering 8.5 wide but when I put them on, they fit perfectly. I LOVE THESE SHOES!!! Perfect fit, perfect width and good arch support. I wish Merrell would make a wider (pun intended) selection of shoes for people like me. Oh yeah: let me compliment Zappos for fast, free delivery.

These shoes felt comfortable right out of the box.

I have never owned a pair of hiking shoes before, but will need a pair for some upcoming trips. I couldn't believe how comfortable these were right out of the box! I have a wide foot, so I ordered the wide size and 1/2 size up based on a friend's recommendation. While I am not wild about the look of hiking shoes in general, these are very nice looking. My husband has several pairs of Merrells and loves them. I may become a fan, now, too!

I bought these for a trip to the Big Island and they are fantastic. I have extra wide feet and a bunion, and the large toe box is excellent. They are SO comfortable and supportive; I thought, “where have these been all my life?” I don’t go hiking much, but recently started taking our dog to activities and these are great for outdoors: sturdy, good on uneven surfaces. I decided one of my new year’s goals would be to wear these shoes more often!

I keep a back up pair of these hikers, fearful Merrell will discontinue them as is apt to happen these days with shoes. On my thitd pair and can't speak highly enough of comfort and support on the trails.
