The insole / outsole are like walking on concrete, provide no cushioning.

Shoe is a little wider than marked, wide toe box but the lace location puts pressure against the toe area and makes it uncomfortable. Heel slides around up down left right. Cushioned but very warm.

I purchased Moab hiking shoes as they were comfortable right out of the box and fit my foot like a glove. They seem well constructed. The Vibram soles are tough and super effective traction. Unfortunately, the lining material is not durable, fragile in my opinion. I wore holes right through the heel areas after a few months of use. The rest of the shoes (see photos) would be good for years but the lining failure has this pair heading for the trash.

To be honest, I'm not a fan. I've had several pairs of Merrells before and they were great. These look good as always, they are very breathable. I'm outside on my feet all day and I had to stop wearing them because my feet were just sore after 8-10 hours walking around in them every day. I don't know if the sole is too hard or where it bends digs into the arch of my foot? I switched back to my Columbia hiking boots and wear these only occasionally now.

These are not the same size a s a couple years back. The width is the same but there is much more material in the uppers so the fit is extremely loose now.

After less than 6 weeks of somewhat daily 'around-the-house' wearing, the lace loop on one shoe broke, necessitating drilling a hole in the shoe to thread through the lace at that location.

The arches seem to be in the wrong place. They hurt my ankles. I have owned many pair of Merrills. Probably won't buy them again.

The shoes seem well made and are comfortable enough. A head's up that they are made for very wide feet (which I do not have), which I cannot really complain about, as I ordered them online. My only complaint is that they were advertised as being waterproof, which they definitely are not. They are not even water resistant. Walking through a park in the early morning dew will result in some pretty wet feet.

The shoe looks great but was hard to break in sore areas around my ankles for weeks and uncomfortable compared to other Merrells I've owned. I ended up throwing them away.

I purchased my first pair of Merrell Moab Hiking Shoe with Goretex in 2011. They were by far the best hiking shoe I ever had. I used them for over 300 day hikes and as a daily wear shoe. I felt like I was floating, they were very comfortable and wore well. In 2015, before heading out to Yosemite for a few days, I purchased another pair, the exact same. Again, they were awesome. Hikes all over Yosemite with them, and then continued to use them for another 5 years before they were worn out.
Again, in 2020, I called my local outdoor store, and ordered in the exact same shoe. Unfortunately, when I had received them, although the colours and design were exactly the same, even the same laces, the shoe had been completely redesigned. The shape was totally different. I wore them, and they were very uncomfortable. The heel was raised now, so my ankle was much higher up and out of the shoe, it felt much less secure. If I tried to tighten the laces to feel more secure, they would dig into the top of my feet making it painful. The arch was moved and no longer fit my foot making it painful to walk. I think they dropped the ball on this new redesign. You had a perfectly fine product that was selling in huge volumes, why did you change it.
I will no longer be buying Merrell footwear.
I am an outdoor adventure guide and need to have products I can rely on time and time again.

This shoe has a very hard footbed on top of a vibram sole. It is a relief to take them off after a hike or even a walk.

The 1st iteration of wide width Moabs fit me perfectly, so I was really disappointed to get this most recent version and find that while the width of the shoe is still great in general, the heel is way too wide, so my heel slips up and down constantly while I walk. I tried getting a half size larger in medium width, but that way too tight for the rest of my foot, although the heel seemed narrower. Sush a disappointment, since I lived in my old Moabs. I can wear these at home to keep my feet warm, but definitely not for hiking or serious walking. I also tried going down half a size in the wide width, and the heel was still really loose.

I bought these shoes online because I've worn size 13 for years. I ordered a 13W and when it arrived, I probably had an inch or more of extra room in my shoes. They are gigantic. I tried to wear them but even on minor hills my feet slid around and theyre unusable. They seem like great quality but I simply cant use them.

I’ve had several pairs of Merrell Moabs. This 12.5 pair was smaller and had to be returned.

My wife likes these shoes a lot and has purchased several pairs. The last pair came unglued between the sole and the shoe. When I looked it appears there was only one area that had been glued. I asked my shoemaker about repairing and he said it would be difficult. He said he has seen it before and that Merrell is aware of the issue. I do not have the receipt because they were a gift. So now 7 months out we need to purchase something else.

I've wanted a pair of Moab 2 Vents for awhile now, and I have a pair of Merrell Accentor mid boots that I've worn for 3-4 years. I finally got the opportunity to purchase a pair of the Moab 2 Vents in gold. Great looking shoe. Unfortunately, this is one of the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever worn. The arch support is too far back. I tried these in both a 12W and a 13M. After exchanging the 12W for 13M, I went to an area store with a good selection of hiking gear (about an hour drive) and tried on an 11 1/2W and several other Merrells, including the Alverstone and Zion. All have the same problem. It feels like a rock is under the inside, front of my heel.
You might say it's my foot, but, while at the store, I also tried on shoes from four other brands in similar sizes, and no problems with arch placement. Also, I tried the insoles from the Moab 2 Vent in the Accentor, and the Accentor felt better. At the store, I tried the insole from a Merrell in a competitor's shoe, and the other shoe felt better, so the insoles are great. The shoe, at least in my size, might be in need of adjustment.
Needless to say, the Moab 2 Vents have been returned, and I'm wearing a competitor's shoe now. I hope this review helps you improve the product, and I highly encourage everyone to spend time at a local store trying these shoes on first.
I know I'm not supposed to talk about CS, but they're the reason for the 2nd star. Everyone was very helpful and worked to make sure I got the help I needed.

I'm a guy with a regular width heel, a wide toe box, and two collapsed arches. I love hiking, but finding shoes that work for me was a nightmare. When I found the moab, I was elated: wide foot bed, regular heel width, and SO MUCH arch support.
Finally wore out my first pair, and thought "how different could the Moab 2 be?". Well, those reviews that say they stink? Believe them.
With the original Moab, my feet were comfortable as soon as I put them on. There was no heel slippage. The sizing was fantastic. I wore them as daily shoes and didn't need orthotics.
I've been wearing the Moab 2 (same size as before, same style as before) on and off for 3 days now. That instant comfort is GONE - these actually make my feet hurt. It feels like the foot bed isn't as wide. The original Moab had two upper eyelets - the Moab 1 has one. This opens the door to infuriating heel slippage.
Merrell took an outstanding product, and somehow managed to ruin in. Back to looking for other brands....
