Bought these last fall and have worn them intermittently since then. Not a terrible shoe, however they squeak constantly. Inside, outside, thin socks, thick socks. Frustrated because they still have life left in them but can't stand the squeak.

I have been wearing Merrell shoes for ever. The ones I really liked were discontinued so I went with the Moab 2 Ventilator. My biggest problem is the soles have a very intricate pattern that traps all sorts of junk that I then track into the house. My old Merrell shoes had a lug pattern that didn't have this problem. The shoes are not all that great for walking in wet grass as the toe area is made of mesh fabric and my socks and feet get wet. Maybe I should have got with a waterproof version. Otherwise the shoes are well made and very comfortable.

High quality made shoes. Fit true to size from day one. The wides are said to be wider than the mediums by a quarter of an inch (6.5 mm) which is what I was looking for. They also look good and have sturdy sole. That being said, they are not without flaws: 1. The major problem of Moab 2 Ventilators (non-waterproof!) is...surprisingly, they "breath" very poorly. It causes your feet to overheat and sweat in a warm weather, no matter what socks you choose. Only when the outside temperature falls below +55F (12C), it stops being a huge problem. Looks like they were designed for colder seasons and cooler climates only! Expecting them to start smelling soon. :( 2. The low heel design is definitely not for everyone! No matter what size, or how tightly laced up, your heel would feel loose, almost like sliding out of slippers. Hoping to get used to that because many Merrells and other brands have "low heel" design but you have been warned. Signs of rubbing starting to appear on the insole and the inner lining material, like others have said. I'd get the boots version instead (with ankle support) but the boots Ventilators would overheat and sweat even more than the shoes do, which is their main problem anyway. Hope that the Design & Product team reads and finds better materials or design to fix ventilation issues and makes these "Ventilators" actually breathable. Some day.

I wanted to like these but they were too big, and I was told I couldn't return them. So I wore big socks and they're basically house shoes now.

The heel cup didn't hold my foot down, despite lacing adjustments. Too much room from the top of my forefoot to the top of the shoe. I I realize that with these low-cut hiking shoes (and the running shoes I bought) I have to be in the store and work with a person who really knows the brands. So - these were returned.

Great shoes. But the insoles are so hard I can't wear them very long.

The regular width is too narrow and the wide width is too wide. Wish you had something in between.

My left shoe squeaks when I walk. It's really annoying. Other than that, the shoes are really comfortable.

I've owned two pairs of this basic shoe for the last couple of decades. They are well made, durable, stylish, and breathable. However, I find that the midsole is not stiff enough to protect against even the smallest of rocks on the trail (you feel every bump), and it doesn't have enough cushion to make it comfortable for long walks on flat hard scapes. So, I would choose a trail shoe with a rock plate for hiking, and I would choose a running shoe for long street walks. As a consequence, I don't wear these often.

The Moab 2 is a well made shoe, but it is very rigid and lacking cushioning.

I bought these because of the wide width and ease of replacing the inserts with my orthotics. The one downfall is that the they have cheapened the design by decreasing the eyelets at the top from two down to one and decreased the width of the tongue. This means the use of eze laces cause some friction on your foot due to the laces no longer being covered by the tongue.

This shoe is a vast departure from the original Vent and Mid. The sole is improperly designed and feels extremely clunky and awkward. The top of the shoe looks poorly designed.

So far these shoes are some of the best I've had. As a courier, shoes play a big part in my life. They conform to your feet almost perfectly and they're perfectly cushioned. The only bad thing I have to say is that I've only had them for around a month, if that and the side looks like it's already coming apart.

This shoe has a slightly higher arch padding then my other hikers and seems to be more apparent in the left shoe than the right. Will see if after wear and tear wether the issue corrects it's self

I love my Merrell Moab Ventilators. They are probably the most comfortable walking shoes I've owned. Straight out the box they felt great, with no signs of rubbing or hotspots. These shoes are reasonably light, well-cushioned, supportive, flexible, and allow my feet to breathe. They have good traction too. So, why just THREE stars and not five? Because, after just two months of wear, about 350 miles, they're starting to show wear. The soles are okay, as are the uppers, but the inner lining is starting to fall apart. I'm going to have to replace them in a couple of weeks because they are starting to Bub :-( That's a shame because, if they were a little more hardwearing, these shoes really would be the mother of all boots, or shoes as these are the low version. I guess I'll just have to buy another pair and get used to the idea of buying a new set every 2-3 months. They are that comfortable that I'm prepared to write off the cost that often. I've spent years trying to find the most comfortable walking shoes, and it's a shame that no I've found them they aren't quite as tough as I'd hoped for.

I have been wearing these a few time a week for a little over two months now. They are very comfortable but they have now started to squeak. It was moderate At first but now loud enough that people notice when I am walking in a store. Ok for walking outside alone, keeps me from sneaking up on someone I guess... I also have the waterproof version but have barely wore them. Hope I do not have the same issue...

I bought the shoes with the idea that these shoes were going to be my everyday shoe. When I first put them on the first thing I notice, was that the heel was really hard and little to no cushion at all. I also bought a pair of work shoes with this order as well, and there's a BIG difference when I first put on the work shoe that the heel is a LOT more comfortable right off the bat. However, as I began wearing them over the next couple of weeks that my foot was starting to feel better in them. And then I went to wear work shoes for one day then put back on the Men's Moab 2 Ventilator Wide Width shoes and they really were uncomfortable; it's like I put them on for the first time again. I wish I could exchange them for something with a little more cushion on the heel of the foot bed.

I've hiked in Moab ventilators for years (like going on 15). The Moab always seemed to fit perfectly until I tried the Moab2. I don't have a wide foot (have always word regular width), but I noticed at first they were much more tight on the toes than my old pair. Have tried them on several hikes to try and break in, but the last hike was too painful, I was practically limping back to the car. To me, the front toebox is more narrow than the previous Moabs. Thinking it was only that particular pair, went and tried on another Moab2 and the same thing noticed. Really disappointed because it was the best low hiker.

I inadvertently purchased two pair. I liked the shoe but sent one pair back requesting exchange for different color. It has been almost two weeks since I returned them and have not heard from you.

I love my Men's Moab 2 Ventilator (wide). I have taken these shoes on all my trips (Peru, Europe, and camping in US). But, my only complaint about these shoes is the heel lining material that is used....it wears out in a short period time. Especially, I wear them every day. I have purchased these shoes for the past years...every time I pray that Merrel would improve or upgrade the lining material...but sadly that has not come to fruition. I hope they listen to a loyal customer.

They are pretty durable except for the insole, I have only had these for little more than a year and an Insole split in half on the bottom leaving my shoe squeaky with every step. I tried another generic insole it seems like they're all crap. The only one worth it are the insoles they came with especially since they are ergonomic. If I could buy Merrel brand insoles to replace them I would. On another note the sizing is different , I usually wear 10 wide in these a 9.5 not wide.
