Great shoes, I usually where 13's but sized down to 12.5 wide and they are still a little big. Should of stuck with the regulars instead of the wide.

Very sturdy and structured shoe. Love the thick and stiffer sole I don't feel every stone I step on. Quality stitches and seems that gives me confidence in the durability of this shoe.

First pair bought 5 years ago; very comfortable, worn extensively in the Philippines during hot dry & very wet weather, often soaked through. Still holding up but figured I should get a 2nd pair. Same size 9 wide but feel a scoche roomier; first pair made in Vietnam, these made in China, if that makes the difference. Back in the US, come winter & thicker socks a tad extra toe room may be desirable. Now looking at possible 3rd pair (different color).

I have had at least 3 Moab boots and an equal number of other Merrell footwear. Obviously I have been quite pleased or wouldn't be a repeat customer. However, my latest purchase, Moab 2 Ventilators, although the same size (11 1/2) of all my past purchases, feel significantly larger. On a recent hike up a steep ravine, I darn near stepped out of a shoe.

I wish the shoes laces would last longer. They seem to wear out fast and easy shred when tying them up in a bow. Another than that, best hiking shoes I have ever had.

Just got my bark brown moab vents. Feel great, look great. Had to write this review though because the color of the bark brown moab really has no brown in it. I'm not bummed by this, looking at the color online I thought there was a light brown present, but no, this color is actually 50 shades of grey without the good stuff. I adapt

Very comfortable and requires no break in. A little on the heavier side, but not awful.

Bought at the recommendation of online salesman. Described my needs and they delivered. Only reason I didn't five star is that the shoes don't do well with wet surfaces. Very slippery. That and in the left heel, compared to the right, it feels like there's something a little extra, it's tougher/harder/with less give than the heel of the right shoe. Overall I'm happy with my purchase. I've been up to Pinnacle a few times now and Petit Jean once. If these do well the next few months I plan on buying another pair.

The Merrell MOAB 2 Ventilators have a hard sole that's thicker than most shoes of this type. The extra thickness takes some getting used to, and you'll find your self tripping on things(for a while) that you normally wouldn't trip on. The harder soles take some getting used to also; I removed the insoles that came with the shoes and replaced them with memory foam insoles, which made them much more comfortable. The hard soles take some getting used to, even with the memory foam added in; it's like you have to allow your feet to get used to a harder shoe and break them in a little also. Overall the shoes seem to be pretty tough and hold up well, the hard soles make them excellent for walking on sharp rocks and likely will add to the longevity of the shoe. They come with good laces, are easy to put on and take off, not too heavy. They seem a little warmer on the feet than some trail runners I've worn; however, they do dry very fast if you get them wet.

Stop using pig suede leather. Other companies are making boots without leather. It is time to update with not using animals for shoes or clothing. Times are a- changing, and have been . Get the Speeds instead if vegan.

Great ruff terrain shoe, I work as a farmer and these worked great for traversing fields while working. They were very comfortable as well. However after only a week and a half of use the laces on one of my shoes tore. It didn't get caught on anything, it just pulled off while I was tying my shoe.

Have had a pair for several years, but sadly a hole appeared in the toe area the first day that I wore them. I no longer wore them as my everyday shoe but instead used them for my walks. Looking for another pair, but am concerned that the same thing might occur the second time around? I wore them for all day walking while in Kyoto, which is where the hole appeared. I walk quickly and did a lot of climbing in them that day, so perhaps that is what caused it? Great shoe otherwise!

This is my second pair of the Moab 2 Ventilators. I have nothing but good things to say about them. I use them on hikes, as well as daily walking shoes. Because of the latter, they are stressed a lot, yet they still hold up. I have also had good experience in both wet and dry conditions, the Vibram soles doing their job well. I haven't tested these side-by-side other shoes, so I can't make any informed comparisons, but they have performed well and held up for me.

Nice boot but needs more protection from rocks on long hikes. If your on a rocky trail for miles your feet get beat up abit. Why only 4 stars.

Would rate 5 stars except that they are a little narrow on one foot. The wides were too wide. Otherwise, a great shoe. I guess I will wear thinner socks. They are replacing a pair I have had for 5+ years.

Although I like the shoe, it doesn't compare to my former Merrell shoe, which was discontinued. I continue to wear the former shoe more that the Moab 2 Ventilator. I like the lower profile and wider toe box of the former shoe, as compared to the Ventilator.

The "Moab 2 Ventilator" shoes are a very durable hiking shoe that I've used when I go for my daily walks/urban hikes with my dogs ... So far I've logged over 700 miles on them and they are still going strong ... Probably will retire them after they reach the 800 or 900 mile mark ...

I bought these hiking shoes about 7 months ago. I was never a fan of Merrell footwear as they really tend to rub on my Achilles' tendon just above my heel. These hiking shoes do not. They were very comfortable right out of the box. After I put about 100 miles on them (nightly walks on easy trails), they became my daily wear shoes. I got a second pair for hiking. Very breathable as these are not waterproof. I have gotten them wet and they do tend to dry quickly.

Most reliable shoes I have ever owned. I recently bought my fourth pair going back 14 years to my first pair. The Merrells serve as my office/church clothing. I do not hike in them but average about 8000 steps a day. I used to wear through leather-soled shoes in about 6 months. My only criticism is that the laces always come unraveled unless they are double-tied. This has not changed since my first pair.

I had to purchase the Moab 2 Ventilator because Merrell discontinued the FST which was the best shoe I've probably ever worn.

I have purchased Moab 2 Vents for the last 10 years.. Although the current design / version are good, the quality of the new Moab 2 fails to match the original 2010 Moab's. Like my Moab 2 a lot but wish they were constructed as well as the order 2010 styles.

I gave these 4 stars as the structure and build is great however "my feet" find these not to be as comfortable as Merrell's in the past.

These have been my kick around shoes more than anything. Yard work, demo, working on a cabin, mucking through the woods. Great all around shoe. Heavy. Not a lot of arch support. If I am wearing them when I am on my feet all day, feet will feel tired the next day, like I should have more arch support. Indestructible - I have abused these shoes and they don't rip, tear, or show any real signs of the hard use.
