Initially, I thought these shoes fit perfectly. I tried them in the house a few times, and then decided they were comfortable enough to keep. Since I am planning a major hiking trip in Scotland in September, some 42 miles in four days, I need good footwear so I called and asked for assistance in choosing the right shoe. I am walking 5 - 6 miles a day, with the expectation of kicking that up to 10. With one bunion it is no surprise that I have had to reconfigure the lacing on one, but that worked. Am now in the midst of trying to find comfortable socks as the shoes seem stiff and uncushioned, with kind of low arch support. As soon as I go to thick socks, my toes hit the front of the shoe. After four miles, I switched shoes today. Wish I were one of the reviewers that just put them on and hiked with comfort. Perhaps they will continue to break in?

Heavy and uncomfortable for me. Too much traction on the bottom--feels uneven and bumpy.

Hmmm, both the 10 and 10.5" in the Moab 2 WP were shorter and narrower and less comfortable than the Moab 2 Ventilator in size 10. Hard to order online since the sizing is inconsistent. Luckily postage and returns are free so I was able to order several and luckily got a pair in the other non-waterproof model that fit.

I have consistently been purchasing Merrell shoes, and this style for years.
I find that the sole on the last three pairs has worn out very fast. The upper part of the shoe looks great, the sole is worn right down.
I am try to decide between buying another pair of these of looking at a different brand.

I'll be honest. I loved these shoes. I wore them every day and was always comfortable. But here, less than a year after I got them, they're no longer waterproof. If you don't need waterproof save your money and buy the cheaper moabs, but my job requires waterproof and if they don't last a year at this price it's not worth ut

I was hoping these would fit perfectly for an upcoming trip to Oregon, but they were too small! I wish Merrell had a size 12 for their Women's shoes. I wasn't able to comfortably get them on my foot, so I would have needed at least a full size up. They were fairly sturdy. 3 stars overall mainly because they aren't sized properly.

The color is not as green as pictured. It's more of a gray. They are just a little bulky for what I wanted, but felt sturdy and grippy. If I wanted a purely hiking shoe I might have kept them. (But, I also want something for walking in Europe.) They feel a little high in the heel, but perhaps because the walking shoes I'm used to (Northface) are not.
I'd also recommend:
The North Face

The shoe is heavy. It also fits slightly tight up in the toe area. The next size up would be to big as the ankle fits just fine. The shoe does have GREAT support
I'd also recommend:
I will get another pair of Merrell's Just not these

I have bought tons of Merrells. Mostly online, except my first pair a decade ago that got me hooked. This is my first disappointment. I have tried to break these in, the arch is comfortable, heal feels great.....its the top of the toes and tow box that hurts. I dont think going up in size will help. There is no cushion and or give. I am outside the return period and may be donating them soon, unless i come across a solution.

I am usually a 6.5 in Merrell but I bought this model at another store and it was too tight. So I found this on Zappos and ordered a 7. It was ok on the length but very narrow in the toe box and pinched. After reading the reviews about not being really waterproof, I am returning.

These boots are not waterproof at all. My feet were soaked within 5 minutes of walking through dewy grass. Very disappointed. I contacted Merrill and they ignored me.

I bought these shoes over a year ago. I have tried wearing them for an hour or two every day to break them in. The fit is horrible and they hurt my feet. Do not buy these shoes!

Pretty disappointed in these. I ordered the same size I wear in other Merrells, which is a little generous on my feet, to leave room for warm socks. They felt fine when I tried them on so I thought they would work out, but after an hour of hiking my little toes were rubbed raw. I don't normally take a wide shoe so I had no idea that what felt like a good fit would turn out to be very much not. With such a structured shoe I don't have a lot of hope they'll break in. No idea what to do about this since I do really need a good hiking shoe for fall.

I really wanted to like these but there was a hard ridge under my heel that forced me to return them. Disappointed.

Even the wide size was far too narrow. The shoe seems decent but without fitting, will never know.

These shoes are comfortable right out of the box. Unfortunately within one week my left foot was getting wet just from walking through the wet grass. I contacted the company and did not get any reply. I am so disappointed, I really wanted to love these shoes. This is my second pair of Merrills and the first pair although a different model fared no better.

I'm not sure why the shoe was designed this way, but the tongue was folded on both shoes so that it dug into my tops of my feet. It was extremely uncomfortable! Had to return.

The fold of the fabric on either side of the tongue of the shoe is to thick and very hard. Caused bruising on the top of both of my feet. Very uncomfortable. Also found them to be very slippery on wet rocks and roots. Not an ideal hiking shoe at all.

I love Merrill in general, but these were clunky. Very heavy. Wide width did live up to its name.
