These were beautiful and I would have liked to keep them but the tongue pleat dug into the top of my foot no matter how I tied them.

These are great shoes. Durable, comfortable, and stylish. They are not waterproof, though. I wore them for a 20 minute walk in the rain and my socks got wet. It did take about 15 minutes for the water to soak through the fabric, though (it wasn't a downpour, just a light rain). My daughter got the kid's version of the Waterproof Moabs too, and hers are not waterproof either. Her feet get wet every time it rains or if she steps in a puddle.
Overall, I like these, but I don't recommend them for walking or hiking in the rain.

The first pair I received were very comfortable, I felt steady on uneven surfaces but were not waterproof. I contacted Zappos customer service and they were wonderful! The 2nd pair arrived quickly. They appear to be waterproof but hurt my left foot. I do have a bunion that has not bothered me in years....since I began wearing wide width shoes. I now have discomfort when I walk, (even without these shoes on) and knee pain which started a little time after I had to stop wearing these shoes.
So, if they are comfortable, you have a nice shoe. If not, send them back.

Comfy to put my foot in but too roomy for my medium foot and the toe box was cut such that this model was too short to wear hiking - would have scrunched my longer left foot.
I'd also recommend:

I tried these and the Moab 2 Mid style in my normal size. The Mids fit perfectly, but this style fit smaller and I would have to go up 1/2 size. The back ridge also rubbed the back of my foot the wrong way. But they seem sturdy and well-cushioned.

The fit and size e OK but the weight too heavy. I will replace with a trail running shoe instead. I wore them around the house first.

I am in the process of looking for a good pair of hiking shoes, and these ones almost fit the bill. Great quality, good support, very comfortable from the minute I put them on - no pain at all even though I do suffer from bunions. However they are very chunky and I did not feel comfortable with that. They looked huge on my feet. Right now I am going with the Merrell Siren Edge 3, which are just as comfortable but sleeker looking, although not waterproof.

Hugs my feet comfortably. Will do some hiking in Hawaii & can't wait to break 'em in! Luv the design & how rugged & sturdy they look.

I have been wearing these for 10 years now and they give great support at work and on the trail. They last about a year with daily wear. I use green super feet in them for even more arch support. I am disappointed that they got rid of the double eyelet at the top a few years back though. I have thin ankles and like to do the special loop lacing to cinch them closed.

Are shoe manufacturers making footwear narrower? Or am I the only one who thinks this? I have noticed this with many brands that I have owned and worn through the years, and when I buy a new pair of shoes from the same maker, they fit narrower than in the past. That is what happened with these Merrells.
My regular shoe size is a womens 7.5 medium. For boots, I wear a womens 8 medium to accomodate a thicker sock. It has been this way for forever. And my shoes that are 7.5 medium, and my boots that are 8 mediums all still fit the same. But when it comes to buying new footwear, it's not the same. My feet are not swollen feet, and I have a normal weight for my height - BMI is 23.
I bought these Merrells in two sizes - 8 Medium (which should be my normal size for boots) and 8 Wide. And I'm glad I did - the 8 Mediums were too short and too narrow. The 8 Wides fit like an 8 Medium.
The 8 Wides fit well; the support is excellent. The sole is very sturdy and solid feeling. I have worn these for about three weeks now, walking about 4 miles three to four times a week, and these Merrells have fit right out of the box, no break in time (I do not do break-in time anymore - if the shoe does not fit out of the box, back they go). I pair these Merrells with a nice pair of Darned Tough hiking socks and my feet are very happy.
I'm glad that Zappos has free shipping both ways, because that allowed me to buy more than one size in this hiking shoe, so I could figure out if any would fit me, and be able to easily return the rest.
I do recommend these hiking shoes though. Consider ordering the wide width as well, just in case you also find they're narrower than what you'd expect.
I'd also recommend:
ECCO, Miz Mooz, Bogs (leather waterproof), Pikolinos, El Naturalista, UGG, Birkenstock, KEEN

Good, haven't used them enough to really complain or glow. Quality is wonderful as always. Obviously I changed out the shoe laces, who needs round? Color is perfect, same color as the last pair.

They were quite uncomfortable, too much arch support and I couldn’t feel any cushion. For this much money, I would expect a comfortable hiking shoe. Also very heavy and bulky feeling. Thank goodness for no hassle returns. They have already been returned.

The usual Merrell quality of course. The width at the toe box is perfect for my duck feet, the heel is a little too wide for my normal heel, but I will take it. Good looking shoe overall and I haven't had time to break it in so I will have a full opinion in 6 months or so.

Merrills are great. This one fits wonderfully and my foot is very comfortable in it. The one issue i have is there's not enough cushioning for me. I do a lot of walking and I feel the difference with these from my other shoes that I walk in. I would recommend buying these shoes and believe they would work for most people.

I haven't gotten out on a trail with these yet but I walk my pup 3-5 miles a day and they've served me well in a few inches of snow and ice on paved and unpaved walks. Kept me warm and dry, and really appreciate the wide width option.

This is a great shoe. My only concern is that they are heavy. I will be stronger from wearing them.

I had started wearing Merrell shoes because I have corns and needed a wider toe box. Merrells were commonly recommended on account of the standard size running wide. This is my third pair of Moab Waterproof shoes, but the first time I had to buy the wide style. I believe the design was narrowed not too long ago. "Waterproof" may be a stretch as I've found them to be closer to "highly water-resistant". Once you've got the right size, they're comfy right out of the box and good for walking in damp or mucky conditions.

I was looking for shoe with a sturdy, inflexible sole at the forefront due to a previous foot injury. Man, these are poofy looking! Not the best looking hiking boot. I also felt a fair amount of heel slippage but the toe box feels nice for feet that run a little wide. I'm returning this because both the Hoka Challenger and On cloudrock hikers felt and looked better.

I bought these shoes in a hurry 2 years ago. I was about to leave to hike the Argentinian Patagonia and realized I needed new boots. Bought these Merrells online and they were the best! I had no time to break in the shoes before my trip. I hiked Mount Fitz Roy and the glaciers with absolutely no issues. These boots fit like a glove immediately and traction has been great in all terrains. They look a bit too clunky around the ankles, so not my favorite looking boots but most definitely the best performing ones I've had. I wear my boots frequently but not everyday nor every week; this is why I was disappointed when last week I put them on and realized a chunk of the sole was about to come off. For the price and overall quality I expected these shoes to last longer.

Good shoe, a little tight in the toes. Waterproof, great grips on the bottom, fun for local hiking on trails.

I have been wearing my new Moab shoes for the last couple of weeks. They are sturdy shoes but they don't have much cushioning as in they feel hard underneath even though they have thick soles. I think gel in them would be good. I am on my feet sometimes 8 hours a day and I wear them the whole time. The other thing is I wish there were an option to buy a size 10 for my left foot and sz 9.5 for my right as my left foot feels scrunched in the shoe with thick socks.
