I LOVE THIS SHOE!!! I am a 66 year old man trying to get back into an exercise program after years of being lazy. My preferred workout is walking the trails around my Southern California home. I try and do 3 miles of rough trail walking every day. Steep hills, deep canyons, minor streams. I gain and lose over 700' of elevation on every walk. I put these shoes/boots on in the morning, do the walk, and never take them off until bed time. They are more comfortable than any running shoe I have ever worn. Heavier, yes, but they provide wonderful support around my whole foot, not just the arch. I never realized how good it feels to have your entire foot supported. If you have a lifestyle/job that allows casual footwear, I would recommend these for 7/24/365 wear!

Probably one of the most uncomfortable pairs of boots I've ever worn. Felt like I was walking on concrete with my bare feet. The boots felt too narrow and the insoles they came with were paper thin and provided zero cushion. These boots caused my plantar fasciitis and heel pain to worsen. They did not breathe extremely well either. Overall I'm disappointed. I expected much more considering all the great reviews these boots have had.

I might be a tad boring, but this was the third time I bought this same Merrell shoe. And not because there are problems. I do 2,000+ walking miles a year and the shoe is great!

Purchased for my husband, very hard to find shoes that work for him. Ordered a wide hoping to accommodate his thick foot and has a higher lace up than a regular walking shoe for support from a surgery for a shattered heel, fit and feel perfect with the ankle and heel support he needs. He uses these shoes for everyday and all occasion. Best arch support and comfort that he has ever owned.

Fantastic boots! Great upgrade! I've worn this boot for years. Its the only shoe that keeps me going through my 9 hour works day on the concrete floor of my 16,000 sq.ft. vintage/antique/modern mall. There is virtually no break in time and they hold up for at least a year with near daily use. I always buy two pairs and then wear them every other day. I was delighted to find they now come in black. I've got a pair in each color! They are a little heavier duty than the earlier version of the Moab but in a good way. The shoe is roomy enough to add a second insole for added support and comfort. I've noticed this same boot on the movers who pick up Movie/TV studio props purchased at my shop. Its a great overall lightweight/midweight hiking boot. It has the support of a heavier weight hiking boot without the heavier weight.

These boots are so comfortable you won't want to take them off. I walk a lot in my job and with these shoes it makes the day easier.

Got these for my son to go hiking but since he needed to break them in he started wearing them to work. He works on his feet all day and absolutely loves these shoes! He’d been wearing running shoes and his ankles had stared bothering him. Well now, with these Moab 2 vent mid, the bothersome ankle issues are gone and he doesn’t want to stop wearing these shoes! Says he loves not only the comfort but also that the traction is awesome! He sometimes has to climb on ladders and step on smooth piles of plywood and says he really feels the grip. He’ll take these shoes this fall semester to try them out hiking since he’ll stay for 4 months in the Bradshaw Mountains but he’s saying they should be great. We’ll see! Only tiny con on these is that the colors are so limited. Wish there were more to pick from. They do have other colors in the waterproof style though.

These were FANTASTIC hiking boots. I wore them for a week while hiking them every-other day as ordinary shoes/sneakers. They wore out and killed my arches after four months.

True to size, good quality material and comfortable. But there is a problem in shoe on the left: something protruding near the back of arch, very uncomfortable to walk.

Some reviews are saying that you have to buy half the size bigger. It is not true for me. The shoes are half the size bigger now when I tried it. I now have to exchange it for the right size.

THis is my 3rd pair of Merrill Moab 3/4 Ventilators and they continue to be my daily wear boot as well as my urban hiking boot. They hold up well enough with mild terrain hiking along river beds and dirty paths but might break down with really rough terrain. They breathe well which in the Central Valley of California is important. of course, they aren’t waterproof but I stay out of the water anyway. Fit is true to my foot at 9.5 and width is adequate. Tried Wides once but had to send them back as too roomy.
Good boot and I will continue to use them.

These were very comfortable but for me the mid-ankle was irritating. If you are ok with mids these would be great but they do seem like they would be a bit warm for full summer use.

The boot has a cozy feel, but does not provide enough firm ankle support for hiking in uneven terrain.

Shoe fit was fine. They are comfortable. Hate to be so brutal but this is the worse boot I’ve ever purchased. The design of the top lets the smallest of dirt in. I’m constantly removing the shoe to empty it out. The upper laces fall off despite tying tight. The outer soles are near to worn on the heel in less than 5 months. I wear boots 5 days a week all year long.

Great feel and fit right out of the box. Glad to be able to get a wide width that really fits.

Bought them to wear at work, no toe protection required. I also wear them while I ride my Harley, the ventilation on the sides is excellent to keep my feet cooler and breathing thru the day. As I ride the air flows thru the ventilation even on hot days keeps my feet cool and protected

My go to shoe for hiking! I used these shoes for my PCT hike and they didn't disappoint. I used the wide width and the foot box was perfect. These held up to some of the most rugged terrain I've ever hiked. Over 750 miles of Washington and Oregon no blisters. I did use Fox River sock liners and Darn Tough socks as well.

These boots are comfortable out of the box. The large toe box makes these boots the only boots I can wear comfortably.

I wear these as my work shoes and weekend camping shoes. I get the support I need to work on my feet all day in challenging environments, and the ventilation to keep my feet from sweating. They last about two years of daily wear, plus about 4 - 5 camping trips a year. They get me through Burning Man and regional forest events as my only shoes there. I usually wear a women's 9W, but the Men's 7.5W seems to have a little more room in the footbed, which I appreciate.

I have had several pairs of these over the years, that's for a good reason. I have never had an issue with performance or discomfort; they feel as though they are broken in right out of the box. Typically, I hike rocky trails with granite boulders and find they provide dependable traction. The excellent traction seems to come at the cost of reduced tread life, but I think it's a good trade, particularly when I am backpacking. I like the lace design although it took me a while to figure out how to use it to its full advantage (no rocket scientist here). I can't think of anything I would want to change about their design.
