Hiking up the Trolltunga in Norway, My new boots, only worn a couple of days in the city, they were super comfortable except where the tongue meets the front top of your foot on the ankle. No matter how I tied up the boots, the thickness of the tongue in the pleat is too thick and it wouldn't lay flat and unnoticeable, therefore it kept digging into my foot. It started to pour and I didn't have rain pants on so the water leaked in through the top of the boots. Maybe if I had rain pants my feet would have stayed dry. Make sure if you're hiking to wear hiking socks. On my next trip to Preikestolen, Norway, I wore everyday smart wool socks and my feet were slipping around in the boots. I really wish the tongue would lay flat, because then I wouldn't be considering selling them and buying a new pair of different boots.

Good quality boots, weil made. Fit is just a bit off, not as comfortable as previous Merrells I've had in the past

I bought these to have a shoe with good grip and not too high of a heel for gardening in my backyard (my garden is on a slope so I needed something that was also good for climbing, i.e. a hiking shoe). I needed a wide Size 9 and it fits perfectly! No toe-smashing or feeling squeezed along the sides of my foot. Great ankle support too! The only reason I personally gave it a 4 is because it still feels like a clunky, heavier hiking boot to me, so just keep that in mind if you are looking for a lighter shoe. Definitely checked all my other boxes though!

Fit perfectly the first time. Brought them on a weekend adventure and had no hot spots or rubbing, virtually no breaking in period! Haven’t tested the water durability yet, but very happy with the fit and function so far!

I needed a shoe with some toe room because I develop corns between my 4th and 5th toes. I think these shoes will help alleviate that issue.

Originally got the waterproof but switched to the ventilator for lightweight. I used my own inserts so can't comment on the cushion and inner sole. I have bunions and this shoes provide plenty of toe box space. Basically a solid buy if you're looking for comfort and durability. Had another Moab which lasted me for years!

I bought these in the last minute for a trip to the Peruvian Andes, when I realized my beloved Ahnu boots were not fully intact and no longer made. When I first put on the Moabs on I was concerned since they are supposed to be super-comfortable, and I didn't find them so. I pulled out the insoles and replaced them with a 6-year old pair of SOLES and voila! Much better. The insoles provided are inadequate in every way - no support, not durable, went straight in the trash. With decent insoles I found these boots very comfortable, even with my weird feet (I have flat feet and something called Haglund's deformity, a bony projection on the back of my heels) and they weathered a strenuous and frequently wet hiking trip admirably. My only other quibbles are that they are a bit bulky, and they trap odors much more than I'm used to - will have to figure out a solution. Otherwise very satisfied with the value and the performance. I wear a women's 8 in street shoes and purchased the 9s, my usual size in hiking boots, and they fit very well with room for warm socks. I expect to wear these for a while.

Last color just ok. 8.5 was too big but my normal size 8 is perfect. Strange that the insoles are 2 different sizes tho. Check your 8.5 and you might see an 8 in the right shoe!

Shoelaces are not long enough because they have to be double tied at all times as they are the type of material that always slid untied!!!

I wore these to Alaska. The ground is super rocky in Alaska and I have arthritis (after a botched surgery) in my big toe. These shoes have a stiff sole that really protected my foot and made hiking more comfortable.

I bought these Merrell Moab 2 mid waterproof boots to replace a pair that had worn out. I have no idea how well they will wear, I bought them for light to moderate hiking. Merrell's are well designed for my feet, with the arch support in just the right place. But I wear a more rugged, all leather boot for hiking in rough terrain. The one criticism I have is that there isn't enough density under the ball of the foot. Other than that, I'm pleased and would recommend these boots. Just don't count on them to be truly waterproof.
I'd also recommend:
If you want a superior hiking boot, check out Zamberlan. Keen are also more rugged than Merrills, bu

Very pleased. The 10.5W fit much better than the 11 Sorel’s I have.

Love the birthday color. Comfy upon first wear.
The traction on wet rocks and in the rain isn't as good as I expected from vibram.
Wish there was an option to buy a pair manufactured in north america, though.

My feet are about 8.5inches long, so a size 5 usually fits perfectly. I ordered a size 5.5 in these, but they pinched my big toe. Size 6 fits more comfortably. Odd, because they're marked as true to size. I haven't worn them outside, let alone hiked in them yet, but they seem very comfortable and I'm hoping they will solve my ankle rolling issue while hiking.

I'm a casual hiker, but wanted a boot that was comfortable and wide in the toebox due to my bunions (ordered Wide size). This shoe fit the bill, but I didn't expect the traction to be so good. I've always thought I was a slow hiker, but in reality the shoes I was wearing made me hesitate on rocky terrain. Now, these boots grip like I have blue on the bottom and I'm hiking much more confidently, and quickly too!

These felt great and had great reviews, but it felt like I needed a little extra length for my toe. The size I think will be perfect is out of stock, so I'm hoping to be able to try it soon.

I'm a casual hiker and wanted a comfortable hiking boot. I tried the Salomon boot at first from top reviews and that was not comfortable at all. It was too stiff and bulky. I've seen Merrell at the store, but never purchased their hiking boots (not a big fan of their regular shoes). Boy, I was pleasantly surprised. Great looking boot and comfortable out of the box. I ordered a wide, because I have bunions, but the heel was a bit too wide. I'm exchanging for a Medium width which I think will work out fine since the toe box is generous. Love the leather/sued and style of this boot. My ankle felt supportive, but not binding or pinching. Looks very well made. And, best of all, great price!!! In fact, these boots look better than the more expensive brands. I'm a Merrell convert now.

I bought these boots to replace my previous Merrell women's hiking boots that I've had for about seven years. They have served me really well all that time. Those were size 8.5. Zappos recommended a size 8, so I bought that size, but it turns out that, especially if I am ever going to wear thick hiking socks, I really do need these in an 8.5. Unfortunately Zappos did not have this color in that size.

I took my boots on a hike. The trail is appropriately named The Billy Goat Trail in Shenandoah.I climbed over and hopped on rocks of all sizes and scaled a rocky wall, Wedging my feet and gripping where I could, the boots did not hinder or impede my progress. Great find! I will be taking my boots our for weekly adventures. I would have given 5 stars, but I haven't water tested them yet.

These shoes are very comfortable and did great for some light-medium intensity hiking. However, the waterproofing failed in the top of one of the shoes after about 6 months. It's been almost 2 years and I still wear them, just get a damp foot depending on the conditions.
I am considering getting another pair, but not 100% sure because of the waterproofing issue.
