I love my new Merrell Moab 2. I normally wear size 8 M. But in tennie's and hikers I need a wide. I have had a very hard time finding trail and hiking boots in women's size wide. These shoes in size 9 wide are perfect with my wool socks. I was able to wear them immediately with out any blisters, without taping, without padding. In the past I have had to wear men's or boys hikers because they are wider than women's. Thank you so much Merrell. And Zappos!

This is my second pair of the exact same boot. These are even lighter and just as comfortable. I live in the northeast and these have kept my feet toasty all winter long on sloppy roads. Great tread. I need nothing else but this style for road walking (2-4 miles a day) or woods hiking.

I haven't worn hiking boots in almost 20 years, and I find these boots amazingly comfortable. I ordered my normal shoe size but in wide width, as other reviewers thought they fit a bit narrow. I'm glad I did because they fit perfectly, roomy but not loose in the toebox and no pinching anywhere. Regular width would definitely have been too tight. I wore them right from the box for light hiking in the woods with mid weight cotton socks, and they didn't need any break in. I can't speak to the waterproof aspect as I didn't walk in water. I bought the bungee cord color, which is a grayish tan with muted orange accents and laces, and it's an attractive color. This is my first pair of Merrell boots, and I'll definitely look to the brand for future purchases.

I was hesitant to buy a pair of boots with ankle support because I like my ankles to be allowed to be flexible, but this pair of boots does not hinder my ability to run around on rocks.
They are wonderfully comfortable and fit great right out of the box (which is why I will always buy Merrell). The waterproofing works and I can splash through streams with no worry about leaks.
I expect a year or two out of these boots because I wear them all the time on my hikes and in the poor weather.
Easily my favorite pair of boots so far.

This hiking boot is so comfortable. It's got great arch support and keeps my feet warm & dry. Best purchase I've made for the money.

I have difficulty finding size 10.5. The last and width are just perfect. The arch support is gives me the ability to wear them all day without hip pain. They are light weight and waterproof so snow and rain are not an issue. I bought them to wear while clearing our land to protect my ankles on the uneven terrain, but I also wear them when I know I will be walking and standing a lot. I am a Merrell customer for life!

I've had Merrell's before and they usually last for several years. I've been spending a lot of time outside recently in the rain and needed a shoe I could walk and hike through puddles and mud. This shoe did not disappoint. Very happy with this purchase. Quaity and style. Love it!

Let me start by saying that this is my second pair of Merrell shoes in almost exactly 10 years. That might sound odd, like "if you like them so much, why didn't you buy more?" Because I didn't NEED them. It's actually quite amazing. I wore the old pair at LEAST 5 times a week for walks, plus hiking in all weather conditions on many weekends. They're easily the sturdiest, most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever owned. There have been times when my feet were the ONLY part of me that remained dry during walks and hikes. I only realized a couple of weeks ago that they were splitting enough along the seam at the sole that water was getting in (not much, but just enough to be noticeable after going through a nice, cold puddle in early January).
I just went for my first walk in this new pair and have made my initial assessment, after going through some of the different maneuvers I've done in the old shoes over the years. I'm sure I looked like a lunatic to all of my neighbors who happened to look out their windows, but I don't care. These shoes are so comfortable and are the first new pair I've had in literally a decade, so I'm EXCITED. The only thing I couldn't test out was the traction in mud and snow/ice, since it hasn't rained in a couple of days and living in the mid-south means it'll be a while before I get to test them out with anything involving frozen precip. My old pair had better traction on snow/ice than any of my "snow" shoes, though, and this pair looks to be the same on the bottom. Anyway, here are my thoughts so far:
1) They seem just as sturdy as my old pair, so it would at least APPEAR the quality level hasn't wained in the past decade.
2) The higher sides add some extra stability around the anklessomething I wish I'd had when I sprained my ankle last year by accidentally turning it sideways. I don't think that would have happened (or at least wouldn't have been injured as bad) if I'd been in these shoes. If you do activities that can roll your ankle easily, these seem as though they'd be perfect for that. I know this is probably not new information for anyone, but I never took rolling my ankle into consideration before spraining my ankle and I lived to regret that.
3) There are actually LEGITIMATE arch supports and they're in the RIGHT place. I'd honestly forgotten that new shoes can have that, since even expensive shoes I've tried on recentlybe they athletic or dresshave rarely had decent arch supports and when they HAVE had them, they've been in the entirely wrong place.
4) These are nicely cushioned. I don't think I'd base whether or not I buy the shoes on that, though, because the cushion will obviously lessen with wear. My old pair was still REALLY comfortable even after the padding wore down, though, so I'm hoping that will be the case with these as well.
5) They're more lightweight than I was expecting. They're so light, it honestly feels kind of like I'm not even wearing shoesespecially considering how sturdy they are.

Love the Moab 2. I still have a viable pair of the original Moab, but these are far better. They fit better and are more comfy. The ankle support is much improved. I wear them for walking the dog along the street and in moderate woods conditions. I prefer sturdier boots for the woods, old Pandoras in warm weather and old Omnifits for winter. Glad I stocked up on those years ago. Also wear them out shopping and visiting. I now have them in chocolate, dark shadow (blue) and bungee. Great all round boots.

I purchased a pair of these in July for a 6 day hiking trip to Isle Royale. I did not have much time to "break them in" prior to my trip and didn't end up needing to. Straight out of the box they were amazingly comfortable. Like wearing a rugged version of my favorite slippers. They didn't let me down on my hiking trip either. They held up great on the rough terrain of the island and helped me hike nearly 45 miles. They are so comfortable, I started wearing them daily to work.
My recent purchase was a pair for my daughter. I wanted her to have a great pair of boots like mine!

Got these for my daughter for Christmas to break in for her Alaska trip in June. She wore them in New Hampsuire weather in December and said they were great in the slushy weather and even walking on ice. Her feet stayed dry and comfortable and they seemed to have good tracking on muddy winter weather.

I needed something that was waterproof because we get a lot of rainy/messy weather here in the fall and winter. These are really good. There are days I need a big snow boot, but on the days I do not, these fit the bill. They are very comfortable. I did size up one size so I could wear warm socks with them. These shoes are very warm, too. I can walk a long time in them and walk quickly which is what I want. I am so glad I purchased them. They look nice, too. I bought the Granite shade.

comfortable out of the box, with little break-in needed; roomy toe box; good traction sole; sturdy construction; able to wear mid to heavier weight boot socks; quick and easy to put on and tighten laces; good for colder weather hiking without being too heavy.

I got a chance to use the boots on the special hiking events with Merrell and UNH. Once i hiked easy trail, second time a moderately difficult one. I can tell that both times felt amazing. I have ankle injury so need extra support in this area. Moab 2 provided perfect support. My feet felt less swallen. And my toes felt great since the shoe is wide enough. The grip was good. For your average trail you don't need anything extra. My boyfriend tried the shoes with me and ended up buying a pair. He used it in Haleakala 12 mike hike in Hawaii. He loved the comfort and fit.

After an exhaustive search in which I ordered and returned three other pairs, I finally went back to the Merrill brand boots. For my foot, especially my inconvenient bunions, this is the only brand I can comfortably wear right out of the box, no “break in”. I did buy these 1/2 size larger to accommodate thick socks.

These boots are very comfortable. I wear Merrell's all the time and for some reason I bought a pair of keens. They felt too wide and had no support, so I bought these and love them!

I ordered a 10 1/2 which is what my old Merrill’s are, but my toe was at the end so I ordered in an 11 and that was a much better fit.
These were so comfortable and the mid height is perfect for ankle support.
I should mention (this may be a small thing for some)the shoe strings are a perfect length, where I don’t have excess strings hanging down and they are easy to tie and secure around the top brackets.
Great traction and tread for those wet hills!

I ordered a regular and a wide and both sizes are true to size. The regular was definitely hugging my feet too much so the wide fit well. I also had the Merrill GTX in house and the comfort for my feet was significantly different. I loved the style of these way more but the GTX were so comfortable straight from the box so that is what I have chosen..

I think they run a bit tight/small as I went half a size longer and it fits well. I chose them because of the wide option 0- need wide box shoe for my arthritic feet. Have not taken them outside yet, only wore inside and they are perfect, WIll update the review if there is anything wrong with them ;-)
