I have very wide feet and it's hard to get enough room in toe box. This is the second pair of this shoe I bought in this size and width. It keeps my toes comfortable through hours of strenuous hikes. I appreciate Zappos for offering the WIDE size, which is difficult to find in other online or in-store sources.

This was a beautiful shoe - obviously well made, nice weight and construction. Unfortunately I had to return because it was too tight. If you have a wide foot, this shoe is not for you.

I am novice hiker and was looking for my first real hiking boot. This boot is fantastic. I followed advice from other reviewers regarding size and sized up to 9.5 where I often wear a 9. These fit perfectly. Wore them for the first time yesterday 6.5 miles, 2000ft, roots, ladders, rocks and caves. These boots got me through it all. I felt like there was plenty of grip and plenty of support for my ankles. Not a single blister or sore spot and my feet feel great today. I am VERY happy with my purchase and am looking forward to many more adventures in these.

I purchased these boots to be able to walk in the woods & on trailers. They have been the best investment. I have serious issues trying to find comfortable footwear due to bunions & plantar fasciitis. Fit was perfect. absolutely no discomfort even with all day wear.

These boots came recommended from a friend. I wore these boots for a several mile hike straight out of the box - loved them! They were comfortable, not to heavy and true to size. I have now done several hikes in them, some quite difficult, (in Colorado and New Mexico,) and I love the support. Several years ago, I sprained my ankle playing soccer, and unfortunately, it has never fully healed ( I am in my fifties). In November, I did a 6 mile hike in Santa Fe, will lots of loose rock and gravel, and my ankles felt great afterwards. It was a nice change. Highly recommend these boots.

I researched hiking boots that had a wide toe box to accommodate my wide feet. I hike a lot in the snow so wanted a rugged shoe that would be waterproof and hold up in cold weather. The Moab came in a wide so I ordered an 8 wide for a 7 1/2 foot.. It’s a good looking boot! The color is dark gray and the material is soft. Love the contrast between the dark laces and the gray shoe. I tried them on right away and they fit like a glove. After wearing them around the house for a bit I decided to keep them. I’ve been on some hikes now in town and on some rugged terrain. Thry are truly comfortable. With room for heavy socks they’ll be great hiking in the cold weather!!

I love these boots - this is my second pair. The toe box seems to be a bit roomier than the first (which lasted for several years), and the toe box was my only minor complaint with the first pair. I hike in them a few times a week. I'm 5'6', 128 lbs, and take a D width.

i bought these shoes to hike in the smoky mountains of Tennessee. They were perfect right out of the box, i didn't even break them in. I removed the innersole and replaced with my orthotic innersole and they were perfect. They wore well and the waterproof held up. i would recommend buying these shoes.

Finally, a Wide-size hiking boot that has a toe box wide enough for my feet. Very comfortable right out of the box. I got a half-size larger than usual, and they fit perfectly. Have not worn them in wet weather yet, so cannot rate waterproof quality.

Wanted to weigh in on the sizing. I usually take an 8 or 8 1/2 in shoes and sandals. I had to go up to a 9 in these to get the length. I have an average width foot and narrow heels. Haven't hiked in them yet but they are nice and light. Better than my waterproof Ariat Terrains for the summer time.

Your other reviews said to buy a half size larger. They were spot on. I wear a size 8 so I bought 8.5. Beautiful fit. Haven’t hiked in them yet. Have worn them all day in the house doing household chores. They feel wonderful. Next up a trail !! Thank you for such a comfortable hiking boot (Merrill Moab 2)

Again, these W Merrill boots fit perfectly, allowing my toes room to move, and not pinching across the fullest part of my foot. I have had them for several weeks now, worn them on several very cold, very wet, very snowy and muddy walks, and my feet have stayed warm, dry and comfortable on each. Thumbs up.

I ordered a 9W but probably could have used a M. I am a relatively active 55 yr. old. These were comfortable out of the box! I wore these throughout my trip to Peru...lots of climbing in rocky terrain, city walking, etc. They did get quite warm on certain days.

Originally ordered an 8 had to return for a bigger size. Bought for my hiking trip coming up, needed more ankle support and these seem like they will do the trick!

Comfortable right out of the box, a novelty for my short but very wide feet. Thank you Merrell for offering a wide size.

I wore these yesterday for the first time, hiking up a ski mountain in the northeast. These boots really are waterproof, and they were comfortable from my first step to my last, both climbing uphill and coming down. It's extraordinary to find boots so comfortable right out of the box. I recommend them highly!

I can’t rate these lower because of my ankle issues. Two surgeries on my right ankle, so some scarring and issues where these don’t QUITE work for me. But they are really nice boots. VERY stury with great arch support, but only mid-ankle support. Well-padded, with easy-on/off hooks at the top for easy lacing and removal. The gray with blue trim is very attractive, but would probably look dusty fast in the summer. But who cares? They are HIKING boots, after all!

Greatest shoes I have ever had for walking! I love that they run large width, I bought a wide because it was available! I wear anything between a size 9-10. The 10 is comfortable! They fit like a glove. If you have a hard time finding comfortable athletic shoes, try these! I cannot say enough good about them!

I've been looking for a new pair of waterproof hiking boots in a size wide that I can wear all the time - and this is it! For comparison, I wear size 6.5 EE in New Balance walking shoes. These hiking boots fit great on my feet with thick merino wool socks and Smart wool hiking socks. I have a pair of LL Bean Snow Sneakers that I've been wearing for hikes temporarily - they provide good ankle support, but my feet hurt after wearing them and the back comes up so high that sometimes my calf gets sore. I also have a pair of Keen's but they don't provide the ankle support I need when hiking on uneven terrain. I can wear this pair of Merrells all day at work, out on hikes all day and my feet feel great at the end of the day. I will definitely buy these again.

I was thrilled to: #1. actually see wide-width women's Merrill boots, and #2. find that they actually fit like wide-width boots. For years I've had to buy men's boots that were a little too big to get the width I needed. Big thumbs-up here. These boots are light, comfortable and reasonably waterproof (I wouldn't wade in them but they do fine against wet grass and the occasional hose splash.

I took these boots on a trip to Iceland - I did not break them in before my trip and was nervous about this. I also wear custom orthotics due to high arches and forgot to bring them with me. These were the only shoes I brought on my trip and wore them all day every day for a week. I hiked on glaciers and over rocky terrain but also walked on flat paved surfaces. They were so comfortable and secure and kept my feet warm and dry. They felt light on my feet and the grip was amazing.

They were great at the Arches National Park in Utah however the mesh toe allowed sand to get into the shoes at the arch sans dunes

My normal size is an 8.5 but I am usually a size 9 in boots. I ordered the 8.5 and 9's to see what fit best. The 8.5 was the perfect length, but width was somewhat snug on my right pinky toe. I could have lived with the slight pinch as it would have stretched, but the differential on the boot felt incorrect (felt like I was being pitched forward). The size 9 felt like my foot was at the correct pitch, however, there was excess material on TOP of the toe area. Length was a bit long also. Had to wear a med-heavy weight sock and pull laces fairly tight to get best fit. The excess toe material was popping on my right foot when I walked at times. I ultimately kept the 9's as they felt correct on my feet. I am just going to have to wear heavy socks and/or maybe add an insert to try and decrease the excess toe room. These boots are so comfortable it is worth the in-between size. I understand making room for foot swelling while hiking, but there was an extreme difference between the 8.5 and 9 with excess toe material on top of boot.
