I love this shoe. I was very disappointed when the Constant, which I used to wear, was redesigned (and did not fit me properly), and then discontinued. The Gaviota is as comfortable and supportive as the original Constant. I have several joints fused in both feet, having torn both posterior tibial tendons, which required several reconstructive surgeries, and wear custom orthotics, and these shoes are perfect. Although it does not come in a wide width, I find the medium to be sufficiently wide to accommodate my orthotics. I wear these or the low Hoka Tor every day, for everything I do. As it is extremely difficult for me to find comfortable, straight - last shoes, I am thrilled that the Gaviota is available, and I pray that Hoka doesn't mess with the design or discontinue it! I might have to stockpile these. Great colors, too.

Someone recommended these shoes to me for running. I was skeptical but the first time I ran in them I felt as if I was running on a cloud. Changed my running and my desire to run.

I knew I wanted the Gaviota since they are a stability shoe. My shoe store tried me in the Bondi, Clifton, and Arahi, none of which worked for me. They did not have any Gaviota in my size. I was set on having the Gaviota!!!!! I took a chance and ordered them feeling like this was the shoe that would work for me and OH MY GOODNESS-THEY WORK FOR ME!!!!!!! I love these shoes. I am normally an orthotic wearer, but I have not had the orthotics in these shoes and am doing great without them! I feel like I could run in these shoes, and I AM NOT A RUNNER LOL! I am a nurse who spends a great deal of time on my feet and my feet did not tire with these shoes. I am sold for life on Hoka Gaviota!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been searching for a running shoe that works for me for quite some time. Nearly six pairs later, I stumbled upon the Gaviota, my first pair of Hokas. Good looking shoe with great support, cushion, width in the toebox. Will be ordering another pair shortly!

I have plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, and patella femoral arthritis....years of running in the military and as a hobby. Many of my friends swear by them so I decided to give them a try after years of loyalty to Asics Gel ... These are wonderful.

I've just worn them and jogged with them around the house so far, haven't tried them on a run. But they seem really shock-absorbing and stable. However, I don't have a wide foot, and they are really tight across the top of my foot. My right big toe is falling asleep. Trying to break them in, hoping they'll stretch. If they stretch a little bit, they'll be perfect.

Good Shoe a bit tight for my wide feet. Would chose a 1/2 size larger if wide is not available.

I have a lot of foot pain in my right foot, and knee and hip issues on that same side. I also have wide toes and a narrow heel. My arch is a bit flat, so I overpronate.
I usually wear Brooks Adrenaline, but this year’s model was not stable enough.
These Gaviotas were recommended by a physical therapist. I like the way they look. The fit is different than any other shoe I’ve worn. Your heel feels low, toes high. Most of the padding is in the forefoot. It feels a little like my heel is stomping the ground before the rest of my foot, yet my heels don’t hurt at all. They felt a little long, my heel slipped slightly. Threading the laces through the extra top eyelet solves that. The top of the shoe right in front of the laces is a bit snug, causing some tingling of my forefoot. Yet I can wiggle my toes freely. I am a 7.5 in Brooks, yet I got a 7 in this shoe. A 7.5 would have been way too long. I considered trying a 7 wide, but they are sold out everywhere. I think they may be too wide. After wearing these a few times (I walk but don’t run), the tight feeling in the top of the foot is about gone. The fabric is pretty stiff, so it needs to break in a bit. I feel a bit clumsy in them, like I’m going to trip on the big soles, but it hasn’t happened.
Despite all these issues, my feet and knees feel good after walking outdoors several miles in them. And they are incredibly stable on the treadmill. I tend to feel like I’m off balance when walking on a treadmill. These keeps my feet from rolling and my balance is much better.
Overall, they feel very weird on, but I’m getting used to them, and I can walk without knee pain!
I added a photo of these size 7 along side my old size 7.5 Adrenalines.

I have ball of foot issues. Tried these for about 3 weeks for daily walking. Really liked the support offered throughout the sole of this shoe especially in the heel. I have narrow feet & felt toe box kind of tight & shoe not very breathable. Have tried Bondi 5 and Clifton and prefer these. Returning for wide.
I'd also recommend:
Hoka Bondi 5 or 6

The finish is not as nice as it used to be. Sole meets upper with less than a clean line on my second pair.

These are my fist Hoka sneakers. I have 3 pairs of the flip flops and love them.
So far I'm on the fence with the sneakers. Left foot fits great right foot loose.
I wLked 1.5 miles and my feet got really hot. That's not good at all.
I want to love these so I'm going to try again and if this continues I won't be able to keep them.

As an over-pronator, I found this shoe to be very supportive. I should also note, however, that I use custom-made orthotics because of my poor arches and on-going plantar fasciitis problems. The Gaviota shoes do accommodate them well. Even though a B (medium width) would usually be too wide for me, the Hoka shoes seem to fit well for my narrow feet, especially in the heels. I also like the large choice of colors design.
I use the lock-tying method of lacing (the extra holes are supplied), but the tongue is so short that the last part of the lacing tends to uncomfortably cinch across my bare skin instead of the tongue (yes, I wear socks.) If it weren't for this, I would have given these shoes five stars.

Great cushioning & stability, BUT it feels a bit too tight on forefoot area. I have flat, wide & bunions. W/ or w/o orthotics, it's way too snug, esp w/ socks. And after walking around the house for 30min, i could feel the tightness. So, if i started running w/ these in Hawaii's weather- forget it! And unfortunately, the colors they offer in wide, suck! The Clifton in wide was great, but not enough arch support, even w/ orthotics. I don't want dark blue or black for goshsake, esp in summer weather. Women love color! Apple got that when they designed the ipod, why can't shoe companies?!? We don't all want hot pink either.

I used these on runs up up 22 miles both on pavement and trail. Anything after 8 miles I develop blisters on my big toes from the heat that builds up in the shoe. They do not breathe. The cushion is great.
