I bought this GT-2000 5 to replace my GEL-Fortitude 7 which Asics seems to have discontinued. The inner sole or orthotic is so thin it gave me foot pain and I had to change it out for a better one. The soles seem to be wearing already (less than a month). I will not buy this shoe again. If I cannot find the Fortitude I will try another model.

Not as cushy as I would like. A little disappointed, but it works and the neutral color is nice.

Bought this type because I had the previous version and totally loved it, great fit and comfort, however when i bought the 5 series, the size did not fit at all :(

I had a very similar pair before that I loved, which is why I was confident shopping online for this pair. The new pair is great except that it makes a slight crunching noise when I walk that I can hear when everything is quiet.

Like millions of others, I require a wide running shoe and have been constantly frustrated with the extremely limited availability in extra wides. Plus...the color selection is not at all fashionable.

Pretty generic "look" to these sneakers. Nothing to write home about. I bought the EE because regular width was sold out. I do have slightly wider feet, but even so I felt I was swimming in these, and there is something off where the laces tighten at the very fist eyelets. If you try to tighten them the whole front of the shoe creases. if you don't it's too loose and you slide around inside. I like the Asics GTs in general, but with each new iteration it seems it's purely hit or miss and no consistency. It works for some and for others it's a bust.

I've been running in Asics shoes for over 20 years and always wear a 10.5. I should have read the reviews before this online purchase as these are clearly a half size too small. For trail running shoe, they don't have nearly as much grip as I'd expect; the bottoms are only slightly more knobby than street shoes.

As others have reported, the heel fabric in my shoes started tearing out after 3 months of daily running 4 to 5 miles. At 6 months, the heel fabric was gone. My experience with a previous pair was the same. The size runs a full size or more smaller relative to the listed size compared to other manufacturers. Comfort and style are good. But the durability of the heel fabric is problematic.

Definitely runs smaller and narrower than expected. Mesh does not seem to be very thick so doesn't seem like it would hold up very well.

Size much smaller than other brands. Ordered the same size I use with Brooks and New Balance, but could not even get the shoe on my foot (11EE).

My entire adult life, I’ve been a size 11. The arch support was great but there was no room in the toe. I compared the length to my current ASICS and the new ones were considerably shorter. I tried an 11.5 and the arch was then in the wrong place and didn’t feel good. I got the wide (EE) both times, but the shoes were still too narrow. The sizing is just wrong with this show. Shame because I love the style.

Within 2 months of wearing them, the inside heal portion started to rip and now I have to put tape inside to keep the fabric from rubbing and causing blisters on my heel.

These feel fantastic and gave me plenty of support. However, after about 100 miles of walking/running the inside of the heel tab (round bit at the top of the back of shoe) started tearing and breaking down. Unfortunately, this now makes them unusable because I started to get blisters because of this.
It's really a shame, because I loved the support and styling of these shoes. I previously had been getting Brooks Adrenaline GTS shoes, and thought I'd give these Asics a try. Bummer they wore out like they did, but maybe I just got a bad pair.
And I'm not doing anything out of the ordinary, and have a previous pair of the Brooks that have > 200 miles without any breaking down like these did.
I'd also recommend:

I have never had a better fitting show, from the moment I put it on through my first month of use. Only problem is they have picked up a very annoying squeak. Every step, both shoes make an squishing sound that is very noticeable.

Well, I tried these a couple times and they aren't right for me. I have the v2, v3, and those fit and feel better.
This v5 does feel supportive and cradles the foot well. It looks to be well-made. The problem is it is too mushy on my feet. It feels a bit clunky to me compared to the Ghost 9.
I think if Asics used a slightly firmer cushion bed under the insole (like Nike or Brooks, it cushions but is more springy vs squishy), I think it would help. My foot sinks more as I walk, and the excess softness causes foot pain as the foot muscles seek stability? The cushion bed looks like Ortholite instead of rubber. I love Ortholite insoles, but stacking it in 2 layers feels too mushy for me.
Overall a decent shoe, just too much mush for me. I have retried them at least 3 different times/orders and it is the same problem.

I bought a 15 4E shoe. At the ball its good, yet at the heel its very narrow. I have to take out the insole to wear them, which makes them less comfotable.

I bought these in Sep 2018. I started using them for walking/running 2-3 miles 3-4 times a week since November and the lining inside the show is already coming off and it looks ugly when I'm wearing. I have used Asics shoes for my running for the past 3 years and this is the first time I'm facing quality issues. Disappointed!

The 4 series of this line was my favorite. For me perfectly and comfortable from the first run. Didn't even need to break them in. I was excited to get the 5 series, but the fit was much different. Too tight at the front of the foot and little room for toes. I just returned and purchased the 6 series which I love. Same as the 4 - fit perfectly and no need to break in. After a week took them on a 10 mile run and they're great. No rubbing or blisters. I'd skip the 5 and go to the 6.

I bought this a while ago and I'm sorry I did. I have another pair of asics (made in Honduras) that fit properly but these (made in Viet Nam) are too narrow in the toe. Both shoes are the same size 10.5 2E yet they fit VERY differently. I have a very hard time getting into the GT-2000 5. The laces are way too short (unlike the other pair which has decent length laces). The only good thing about them is the heel has good support.

I have purchased the GT 2000 series or their predecessors for the last 25 years plus. The GT 2000 5 has a tongue that is much shorter and less padded, making them difficult to put on and uncomfortable to wear. The support trim on the sides and up by the toe box are glued on rather than stitched and not nearly as stabilizing. The achilles notch at the rear is not as deep and the cushioning around the ankle is much thinner. It looks like the achilles notch isn't even there on the newer models. And the laces appear to be shorter than the past models. I sent the GT 2000 5 back and will have to look for another brand of shoe after using them for over 25 years.

I've been wearing GT-2000's literally forever, and have gone through dozens of them. I've worn size 9.5D consistently. This last pair is noticeably tighter in the foot box. I thought they might loosen up as I got some miles on them, but no luck so far.
