The quality of this Timbuk2 backpack is an utter disappointment. I own another Timbuk2 backpack and had high hope for this one. Unfortunately, there are several design flaws that make it impossible to love.
First, the shoulder straps are considerably thinner than their normal models.
Second, the shoulder straps are so close to the zippers that it is very difficult to pull out the laptop from the rear pocket without an extra step to pull aside the straps.
Third, there is a flimsy nylon piece diving the main and the laptop compartment. It provides no cushion protection to your device.
Fourth, the boot panel lacks structure with a sad sagging look.
Fifth, the roll top panel does not stay rolling up. It drops flat in a minute.
I would not hesitate to return the item if it were returnable.
Flimsy A,

I expected this backpack to have some structure and padding but it has none. The laptop sleeve is for too roomy and flimsy leaving the laptop to juggle around and have zero protection. The shoulder straps are very cheap feeling with no padding. The zippers are also very low quality. Overall the quality does not match the price. If it wasn't custom I would have returned it.

This product lasted a week before ripping. I sent a picture of the rip and have to send the bag back for my refund. What a huge waste of time. This company does not make bags like they did a few years ago. I purchased this backpack to replace an old Timbuk2 backpack. The old one was amazing but this one is garbage.

I bought this backpack thinking it was an update version of the backpack I already had from Timbuktu--that I bought 3 years ago. This backpack is far inferior to the previous version. First it is missing the front outside pocket--which is essential for traveling and storing earbuds, extra pens, old-school plus in earbuds and etc. AND it was about 25% more expensive for 25% less product.

I'm super disappointed. Love the design and how commodious the backpack is, but I just took it on a trip and already the fabric ripped along one strap. It was not overstuffed, either. I think the fabric (reflective silver) is too delicate for the job. I have used several other Timbuk2 products for 15 years--including one made of a different, hardier, reflective material--and they have held up great. This one will be going back to see what can be done. On the plus side, it was fantastic to have a reflective backpack while walking on the side of small lanes, with no sidewalks, in Italy.

I have been carrying Timbuk2 bags for my urban comute for 20 years. Love them. But recently ordered a custom blue, water-resistant Tuck as a treat for myself. It is black inside. You have to use a flashlight to see anything. It is a deep, dark cavern. Wholly unusable. Might as well not even have pockets on the inside. I contacted customer service and they reminded me of the no-return policy on custom bags. I would understand that, but all the Tucks on the site were gray or green inside. Even the black ones! The customize engine did not give an opportunity to choose an inside, and an inside view was not available, so I had no reason to think the bag would not be gray or green inside. Now I am disappointed AND I feel duped.

Bag is about as basic as you can imagine - not even close to the quality or thoughtful design of the messenger bags they are known for. Bought this backpack to replace a Timbuk2 messenger bag I have used for years. Very disappointed. On top of that, they have a horrible return policy where they charge you $9 to send back. For a company that has a limited brick and mortar presence and customers have no way evaluate before purchasing, what an antiquated way to do business. After 10 years of daily commuting with their messenger bag, will never waste my time or money buying from them again. I went ahead and purchased a Patagonia backpack - night and day compared to this bag.

I ordered this last month as my first timbuk2 backpack. I thought about the materials and color a lot before actually ordering and couldn't wait to receive my product. When it finally came, I was very disappointed. I didn't get what I ordered! I ordered black top and bottom, navy sides, and dark grey body. What I received was some weird khaki brown body! But with all the other colors on the other parts of the backpack. I emailed customer service right away with a photo but after a week, received no response. I sent another email and still no response. I texted them 2 weeks later, I still got no response! Customer service is horrible and I am not pleased with my product at all.

About two years ago I purchased my first Timbuk2 pack, the mini prospect. It's the best pack I've ever owned -it's stylish, comfortable, and the size was perfect. Unfortunately one of the straps is worn and will probably detach soon and I also purchased a new 15" macbook so I figured it was time for a size upgrade.
After some research, I settled on the Tuck. The pack came within days despite being customized. I expected the same high quality attention to detail and feel that my Prospect has but was terribly disappointed. The Tuck is one of the cheapest looking and feeling packs I've ever laid my hands on. The fabric is thin and the stitching is coming out in several spots.
I can't help but wonder if Timbuk2 actually made this thing or if maybe my experience with the Prospect was an anomaly. I may order the full size Prospect after returning the Tuck but I'm unlikely to purchase any other Timbuk2 products without seeing them in person first.

Buying this backpack is one of the worst decisions I've made in my life. Well probably not that dramatic but it's probably the top 5 worst items that I've bought. There are no pockets and reaching for my keys is an average 5 minute process. It's not comfortable and I've tried adjusting all the straps. I can't return it because it's customized :(

I was super disappointed with the custom tuck backpack. It was unclear from the images and the description that if you choose to pay more money to customzie the colors, you are giving up functionality that exists in the original tuck backpack. There is only one zipped pocket on the front of the bag, with no pockets anywhere else inside or outside the back. I watched the videos of the tuck backpack before I bought it to ensure it had all the pockets and functionality I wanted, only to learn after I received the custom bag that the custom bag functionality is different from the original bag. The lack of pockets makes this bag pretty useless to me (I should at least have a pocket for my phone/wallet/clipper card etc). Since its a custom bag I can't return it.
I've bought a backpack from Timbuk2 before and have loved it, so was really disappointed with this bag and lack of clarity around the difference in functionality, especially when I'm paying more for the custom bag.

I needed a new pack as I my last stm bag got stolen a few months ago. Before December I placed an order for a custom pack, with Timbuk2, including specific materials and colors. These options were the only reason I spent my money on their product. Almost a month later, I received a haphazardly packaged all black, single material, stock tuck bag in the mail. I have made several attempts to reach out to Timbuk2, and even stated that I'm willing to accept just a refund for the difference in price if it's too much hassle to simply provide the service you advertise. I have as yet received no response, and no indication of one to come. So I am sharing this review wherever I can. Buy Timbuk2 at your own risk.

I ordered this pack because the roll-up, white-water-style closure promised the kind of protection I wanted for motorcycle riding in the wet tropics. But there is a big, dumb zipper in the side that defeats the seal, making the roll top just a styling exercise. Leave that zipper off and you have a simple and useful dry pack. With the zipper it's just an ordinary bag with an inconvenient roll-up.
