Overall, this is a stylish, lightweight bag. I enjoy it for the most part. There are a few areas where it didn't live up to expectation:
-The "anti-authority pocket" is much too small and isn't good for anything but your keys or something else that's tiny. Even a regular-size wallet would have trouble fitting. I was hoping it would be a good security/secret pocket but since it's so small, I can't fit anything more than some wrapped up earbuds.
-It would definitely be nice if it had some more pockets.
-More organization possibility on the inside. Right now, it's mostly just a burlap sack - just pack stuff on top of each other. It would have been nice to see a lot more organization on the inside instead of just mostly a big hole to stuff into.

I really love Timbuk2 bags and the look of this one is one of my favorites. But I can't really recommend this bag for daily commuting use. I use it 5 days a week and about 3 times a week, I'll walk about 4-5 miles with it in NYC.
In a few months of owning this one, (like a lot of owners here) the buckle will break. I have a replacement buckle but I don't know how to sew it on.
After another few months, the threads on one of the zippers started to come off and one side of the zip is open.
I think I speak for a lot of owners that if the build quality was improved, I would gladly pay more money for it. It's a really nice bag. But it's just not durable to handle the 5 days a week, heavy commute.

I bought this bag about 2 months ago as a commuter pack for daily use in rainy Bergen Norway. The bag itself (as in the textile) has held up very well and it keeps all of the contents dry and safe. However i just noticed that the buckle for the top closure has broken. I figured everyone else was being rough with their bags and this wouldnt happen to me but ive been very gentle. My bag is as clean as day one, it is not abused in the slightest. I only use this bag to go to and from work with the occasional errand in between. Given everyone elses complaints with the buckle i think its time Timbuk2 upgrades to metal clasps and closures and gives up on this cheap plastic.

I like almost everything about this bag. Doesn't get dirty. Somewhat waterproof. Big and room for my computer when I need it. Looks nice. Great pockets. But the clip on the front has broken 3 times in less than a year. Each time, I go into the store and they can never put a new one on right so they give me a brand new bag. And that is great, I'm glad they have that service, but it's a real hassle to even have to go in and get that replacement. Something about the clip is just not made right unfortunately. Wish I could have gotten one with just a zipper.

This was a gift to my wife after her child accessory bag broke. She wanted a backpack to store all necessities for our child, have a pocket for a water bottle and be usable as a shopping pack - i.e. to have lots of room. All the features turned out to be great however the male clip broke after couple of months. There does not seem to be a way how to order replacement one through timbuk2 store ?

I purchased a Timbuk2 tuck pack because my last bag - a Timbuk2 messenger bag - lasted for YEARS and was the most durable bag I have ever owned. So you can imagine my surprise and disappointment when the front clasp on my tuck pack broke less than 3 weeks after getting the bag. 3 weeks of non-daily use and it broke!
Customer service responded quickly by sending me a "new" clasp (basically one that had been cut so as to be able to thread through the strap) and an instructional video on how to do the repair myself. Super annoying. I think a better solution would have involved having the bag shipped to them at no cost to me so they could make the repairs (as many companies do). Or, in my dream world, since the bag was only 3 weeks old, send me a replacement bag. In any event, the bag serves its purpose but it'll be my last Timbuk2 purchase.

I was really excited to design this bag, but disappointed in the product that arrived. While I am very happy with the colors and fabrics I selected, overall it wasn't quite what I was expecting. My boyfriend has the Prospect pack which is nice, lined and padded. The Tuck bag is not lined at all - just one single piece of fabric facing the inside and out. Not a huge deal, but some padding in the bottom of the bag and on the laptop compartment would have been nice. The inside compartment is quite roomy, but almost too much so - maybe it's a little too wide from back to front? Everything I put in there (Bose headphones and case, mouse, laptop charger, umbrella) just falls to the bottom so it feels like I'm carrying a bowling ball. Not much weight distribution. My final complaint is that the top part doesn't really tuck/roll all that well, and doesn't stay nicely rolled. Because of where the top clip is affixed you can only fold it under once and can't tighten it very much, so the top ends up coming unrolled under the clip. It would work better if the bag was stuffed full, but I just don't carry that much stuff around. I guess there is a reason why this bag was cheaper than the Prospect, but I'm wishing I would have gone with that now.

The material is amazing, but it doesn't really "tuck" fold/roll-up very well. It's also one vertical bag with a few pockets, so don't expect any padding for laptops or any fragile items. Overall, I've had this item for about a month now... We'll see later on how long it'll last and maybe give an update on the review (if I can).

Don't get me wrong, I like the bag. But unfortunately there's little to no padding for the laptop (between main compartment and laptop compartment) so I've already picked up a couple tiny dings in my lid. The main shoulder straps aren't great but you probably don't need a lot of strap padding for a bag like this. The most annoying this is that the main roll-top buckle broke after just a few weeks. I've NEVER broken a rucksack clasp in the past and I've used rusksacks in much more demanding situations, so this seems to be due to poor design for appearances sake. Unfortunately, even though the replacement buckle is only $3, I bought from the UK so I'll probably have to pay $20 import fee.

Love the color combo of navy, red and bright yellow. But I just couldn't get into the oddly colored handle and front flap strap color. Not a grey, khaki or brown color. Ultimately, sent it back for refund.

I thought I'd give this bag a try for my son who prefers to just throw everything together and go for school. It's a very well made bag, but it is pretty big for a 14 year old. I also got the navy bag, which has a black interior and makes it hard to see what's inside. If you're looking for super durable bag that's like a cinch bag in style but roomy like a duffel.

Love the bag, Great fabric with the colourful zippers. Love the fact that you can reach your laptop easy from the zipper on the back.
It is a big bag, if you are not so tall you will find it difficult to reach down for those small items in the bottom of the bag. Black interior fabric makes it hard to see what is in your bag :( .
Missing the smart things like key strap and internal zip pocket.

I thought it would be harder to reach in and snatch my laptop. I thought the back pocket did not open to the center of the bag. I prefer compartments for organizing items inside.
I love these features: lightweight, elegant, simple, comfortable on my shoulders.

From the visible seams on the inside, to the lack of internal padding, to the nonexistent interior support This bag is a big failure.
The best feature of these roll top bags is dependent on the placement of the upper securing strap. This strap is so idiotically placed, that it makes the rolltop useless. They place the strap on the very tip of the rim, So that the bag cannot be rolled to fit the amount of contents in the bag. They might as well have put a zipper there. Another great feature of a rolltop bag is that a typically, through rolling, makes the bag air and weather tight. Again, due to the placement of the strap, you can't get more than a half roll before you need to clip it shut. Who designed this thing? Overall, the backfield very cheap, the fact that you cannot return it is I'm sure by design. Do yourself a favor and do not order one of the "Custom" versions of any of their bags. Because the likelihood of you wanting to return, it is very high.
Lastly, I just want to say that there is zero padding on the back and the shoulder straps are pitiful. Thin little annoying things that cut into your skin.

I love the colors I picked out - but the opening at the top is not big enough for my school binder, so I am not able to use it for school. It is definitely not as easy to use as some of my other backpacks.

Used 3x and inner pocket lining for laptop storage ripped. Customer Service is issuing a refund, which is kind, when they "typically do not" on custom bags.

My custom Tuck arrived last Monday, not much more than a week after ordering, which seems reasonable. Beyond this, I'm disappointed. I mistakenly thought the Custom Tuck was basically the Tuck Laptop Backpack with colour choices, but BE WARNED - do not make this mistake. (My own fault, I was fooled by the similar names and should have checked the specs more carefully.) The Tuck Laptop Backpack (retail $89+tax) has a front zipper to a pocket and a long side zipper to the computer sleeve inside. This bag, the Custom Tuck Backpack ($99+tax) has neither of these, only an exterior zipper to a tiiiny pocket (the other Tuck also has this) which isn't large enough for even a smaller iPhone or sunglasses. The custom Tuck does have a zipper across the top for access to a laptop, but it's underneath the top of the shoulder straps, which restricts access (poor design). The laptop pocket offers zero protection for your laptop. There's no padding - a thin membrane is sewn almost right to the bottom, so one good clunk and it'll be Goodnight Laptop. Nice to be able to choose your own colours, but that doesn't compensate for poor design, low functionality and (sadly) a cheap feel. Because this was a custom bag I can't return it and will have to think about what to do with it - I did not need an overpriced nylon sack. Very disappointed, and disappointed more generally with Timbuk2. I've used only Timbuk2 bags for more than 20 years now and while the backpacks and messenger bags I've in the past have been good value (high quality and good functionality) and have been quite attractive, I'm not impressed with this bag, and I find most of their current backpack designs to be quite unattractive. Timbuk2 should understand they're now competing with companies like Tomtoc and Topo designs which make good quality, attractive laptop bags, often for less.

The colors were a lot darker than expected and the bag smelled heavily like spray paint or something similar when it arrived. The flame reflective color looked more pink to me on the website but it is a red color- which I guess makes sense but it looked so pink on the website that I didn't think it could be red. The reflective material is also a mesh material and not a solid plastic material like it used to be. It is also smaller than I was expecting and the measurements listed are kind of pushing the actual measurements of the bag. Over all off from what I was expecting and disappointed.

It was lighter than I expected. It arrived with black marks that I can't clean off. Two months later the inside lining started to peel off.

How I use this product will be a lot less than I was hoping to. I picked out great colors for my custom bag, but the bag is about as useful as a grocery bag, but worse because it's deep and you would need a flashlight to see what's in the bottom. It didn't occur to me and I didn't read the details that there are no zipped compartments anywhere inside. There is one very small one below one of the straps. I had a great Timbuk2 bag that had lots of zipped pockets. It never occurred to me that this one would have none. I hate it.

I purchased your bag 4 years ago and I was very satisfied now I ordered a bag as a gift for my partner and I must say that the quality has decreased significantly the stitching and the back support system is very poor! disappointing..

I've purchased 4 great bags from Timbuk2, to the point that I looked nowhere else when I needed a sleek, smaller bag for my laptop. The bag is nice, but it doesn't feel as sturdy as my other bags. And the "secret stash" is not a secret at all. It's a zippered pocket, one that stands out even more on the models where the zipper color is bright (nylon yellow on mine ). Two of my other bags had compartments that were so hidden I myself would forget where they were. This bag is substantially cheaper than the typical bag I get and it shows - and maybe that's fair. It feels like a sleeve a fabric with some storage from a laptop, nothing to write home about.

I purchased this backpack to travel to a conference. I thought it would be good for carrying my laptop and essentials on the plane. It's neat looking, but the quality isn't similar to other products I've owned from this company.
