The backpack is a great simple option that meets my commute needs. I cycle to work sometimes and I drive sometimes so the simplicity, large-enough capacity, water resistance and laptop compartment are all pluses. However, receiving the product was the most frustrating part of the experience. Timbuk2 must've used the utmost cheapest delivery option. I was sent the UPS tracking link. My tracking simply said it was delivered so I thought it was stolen. My UPS experience was a fiasco for another time. It turns out they dropped it off for USPS to complete the rest of the trip. But I had no idea. When I reached back out to Timbuk2, they simply told me it was handed off and sent me another tracking link, this time to USPS. This link had no update for one week so they did some digging and deemed the package lost. They sent out a second one and they must've used a different shipment method because this one showed up when they said it would. So DO NOT buy from the online store. Just get it at one of their locations in person if you're sure you want something from them.

The ability to customize and visualize the backpack were excellent. Great web site experience and speedy delivery. I was unfortunately not happy with the product. It was flimsy and seemed cheap. Not a $100+ product. I will not use the custom backpack and even though it's not returnable, I bought a new regular Timbuk2 backpack that is very nice instead. Lesson learned.

My well loved Ace is on its last legs, so I decided to try this one out. I understand why it's such a popular form factor, but this particular roll top backpack was horrible on my back. I'm in decent shape; I walk or cycle most places, almost always with some kind of backpack. I have no history of back problems. This is the first time a bag has ever caused me pain. The worst part is that I can't return it. I get that handling user returns is a pain and subject to abuse, but had I known that a day of use would cause two days of pain, I wouldn't have purchased it.

I use this bag for work and recreation. After researching the bag I was deciding between the swig and the tuck and ultimately the tuck pack won out (based on bigger volume). Here's what I don't like: 1)Organizational pockets feel flimsy. They should have put it on the nylon instead of the flimsy internal lining. 2) The rolling top should have a magnet. When you roll it up, it unrolls itself. You can tighten the clasp but the cheap plastic feels like it will break. I hope it doesn't but it seems fragile. 3) The water bottle pockets need more depth. 4) The tiny hideaway pocket is a good idea but need more depth. You can fit an airpods case or earbuds case in there, but if you put a laptop in the sleeve then you're out of luck. 5) The bag smells. I had to put dryer sheets in there for a few days before I decided to start using it. Overall I can't recommend this bag.

I bought an older line from the Tuck Bags which was on sale. I was attracted by the water-repellent top (in yellow). However, the coating began to peel off after a few weeks and the top fabric ripped within a year. Quite disappointed with the quality as the bag is otherwise well designed and the rest of it has years of life in it.

I regret ordering one of these bags instead of the regular Tuck style. It's nice that the custom Tuck allows you to choose colors, but the very useful front pocket was eliminated meaning that there is no easy access pocket for sunglasses or other quick access items. Additionally, the laptop access zipper was moved from vertically on the side to horizontally under the straps which takes just as long to access as opening the top of the bag. I'm not sure why these design choices were made - they both seem to make the product less useful.

I have so many friends with Timbuk2 backpacks that I really thought this backpack would solve my woes. I was disappointed from the get go. The backpack might at we'll be a black hole; no useful organization, dark, and impossible to find anything. I have to use my phone's flashlight to find my glasses case. Also, I primarily went for this model for the two water bottle holders. I found that the backpack can only hold extremely skinny water bottles, and none of my coffee thermoses. Because this was a "custom" backpack and I couldn't return it, I decided to try to use it. Not even two months later, the buckle has broke, and it hasn't gone through any rough treatment. Don't waste your money.

I'm not one to write reviews, except when I have a really great or really poor experience with something. The bag itself does what a bag should do - the sleeve accommodates my laptop, the side pockets a phone, wallet, water bottle, etc. The main compartment is spacious (though I agree with many other reviewers in that more pockets would be helpful). The primary reason I'm two-starring this bag is because after less than two months of use the closure buckle broke. A replacement is an option, but it's "Unavailable" on the site. Mailing it in to be repaired is an option, but then I'm paying for shipping plus I'm without a bag for 4-6 weeks. For a custom product and a company with such a good reputation, this is a real bummer!

Verified PurchaseReview for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
I really wanted to love this backpack to use to commute to work. I really loved the look of the bag as it didn't look like a high school or college back pack - yet it was big enough to carry a change of shoes, my lunch bag, and even snow pants (living in MN). The problem was that the plastic clip broke on both the original order and then the replacement one Zappos kindly sent. Luckily, Zappos has such amazing customer service that I was able to get a refund for the bag. I'm disappointed with this Timbuktu product and the quality. It's unfortunate as I have had prior Timbuktu bags that seemed to have more substantial hardware - disappointed in the product. Kudos to Zappos customer service.

High quality and great materials. But the hidden pocket can't fit a wallet let alone a passport. What else is there to hide? The custom Tuk packs are missing the huge front pocket that's on the standard Tuk. This doesn't make it a real Tuk, it's a cheaper clone... but for more money. Do not buy.

I mistakenly thought this bag was bigger than it looks. May I suggest that Timbuk clearly list the volume capacity of all their packs. Its a nice bag - don't get me wrong but its small, and geared for style rather than function. My biggest knock is that the straps are not comfortable at all. Oh and sorry guys not everyone owns an apple laptop, think dell, lenovo when designing and when you say a 15" laptop fits you better be sure all 15" laptops fit...

It is a good bag, however it isn't really practical for very much. Firstly, the inside of the bag is black, that combined with the raised and unfolding top makes it very difficult to see anything on the bottom, or to see where the laptop sleeve is as it all blends in. Second, the side pocket they advertise is comically small, my keys barely fit into it, and it is such a pain to reach and unzip that the practicality of having my keys in that small pocket is outweighed by simply putting my keys in my pocket. Its an ok bag, far too expensive though, you're better off getting any other bag.

I bought this bag to commute between work, home and the gym. I love that it fits everything I need (and more!) without making me look super bulky. However the clip broke after only a couple months of use. They of course replaced the clip but I don't expect it to last long based on my experience with the first one. It's just too flimsy. I want to love this bag but sadly unless they replace the clip with something more sturdy I wouldn't buy again.

I love the style, color, but after a week of very light and careful use, the plastic lock mechanism broke off. Not even sure why. I heard a little plastic piece fall off, picked it up, not sure where from the bag it came from. I just knew it came from the bag, until I unlocked it and found where the pice came from. I like this product, but I thought it was a waste of money since I had t pay duty for it, and it broke off that easily after a week of very light use.

As a loyal user of Timbuk2 bags (owning D-Lux Bondage Messenger, Candybar Backpack, and Q Laptop Backpack), I was very excited to see the Tuck Pack. The bag looks very stylish. It has a very spacious main compartment. The roll top looks great. At quick glance, it looks like the Hxxxxxxx Sxxxxx Cx brand bag. Even though it looks great, it's lacking a lot of features we commonly see in Timbuk2 bags: red key fob, padded sleeve for iPad, the padded sleeve for laptop has hardly any padding, and bottle opener. The internal organization system lack compartments to store small items. The material is also a bit too soft for it to be standing upright, so it needs to be leaning against something when not in use. On a side note, D-Lux Bondage Messenger is the best Timbuk2 bag I ever own. I wish it is not discontinued.

I held off on purchasing this bag for a long time, mainly because I couldn't find any websiteincluding their ownthat showed or demonstrated the inside layout. After months of searching since last year, I finally decided to go ahead and purchase the Custom Make Backpack, which I thought was a cool concept. When it arrived, I looked inside and was immediately disappointed. There are no interior pockets, no zippered compartments for pens, keys, or small essentialsjust a single divider panel to separate a laptop from the main compartment. So, I guess all my miscellaneous items are just supposed to sit at the bottom of the bag? That's frustrating and feels like a waste, especially since I can't return or refund it due to the customization. For a functional backpack, interior pockets and compartments are a must, not just a simple divider. Unfortunately, this design didn't meet my needs at all.

As a proud owner of a tuck backpack, I was excited for a custom bag with my own colors and design. This was a higher mistake and I do not recommend a custom Tuck to anyone. It is worse in every way to the standard Tuck bag which is one of the best bags out there. Compared to the Standard Tuck Bag, the Custom has: No front pocket for storing small things like keys, pens, headphones. Side pockets that lack the stretch fabric and therefore it is practically a pain to use as bottle holder Side laptop zipper has been moved to the top so it's now blocked by the straps Different design on shoulder straps that now cut into your skin Clip placement is lower which means it can't roll effectively to be clipped Stay away!

Terrible bag, poorly conceived and constructed. Due to clip placement top of bag cannot be rolled. Which is ironic for something called a roll top bag. Inside has visible seems, appearance is that of an unfinished garment. Zero padding and support, which is all too apparent in "laptop pocket" (which is not really a laptop pocket) and in shoulder straps which cut into your skin. Not able to return due to being a custom bag. Beware.

In my opinion the best Timbuk2 product I ever purchased. I like the option of choosing fabric, rip stop nylon and colors bright so I can find it in my car or in the wild. It carries my 6 piece fly rod with ease. I will use it as an under the seat bag for cross country travel. Many thanks for your unique idea!

I bought this backpack a year or so ago and it is the worst backpack. I wish I could've returned it but of course the customizing eliminated that option. Instead, it just takes up space in my apartment collecting dust. -It will not stand up right at all. As soon as you put in on the ground, table, surface etc, it falls over. No matter how I tried to adjust the weight, it just tops over spilling everything out of it. -Everything just falls to the bottom. No weight distribution, just chaos. -the straps are so uncomfortable! Seriously what were they thinking?? They're thin and flimsy so when you wear the backpack on your back it almost hangs off of you. I have them at the tightest fitting and still the top pulls back if the bag is full. -The roll top is embarrassing. It doesn't stay closed. The sides flip up all crazy. It needs two buckles except the buckles are flimsy plastic. You have to cinch the thing tight just to keep the top down and not stick straight up. Of course, the straps are also poor quality and require two hands and effort to tighten. I keep trying to use it because I'm stuck with it, but every time I regret it and think it belongs in the trash. I'm a Bay Area native and wanted to support this company but this bag has made me think otherwise. Who designed it? I can't believe a single one of the positive reviews. Seriously. Don't buy this.

Almost a month on and the product still hasn't even been shipped. Got this as a birthday present for my spouse, bought a month before the birthday thinking this would be more than enough time. Birthday has come and gone and no backpack. Would never order from them again.
