It fell apart when I put it in the washer. It made a big mess in my washer, I had to throw away the jacket because it was not wearable.

I'm terribly disappointed in the 2016 version of the coat I first purchased a version of in 2005. My 2005 version only now (12 years later!) is looking a bit worn (and the zipper needs repair), but it's still far, far superior to the new version. For example, my 2005 coat has 600 fill (new version is 550), covered zipper (new version has uncovered zipper and wind/rain/snow DOES get in), 2005 did not lose feathers and is still as warm as the day I got it (2016 version puts feathers all over my clothes and everything else). Also, the hood was not warm nor functional on the 2005 version (I removed it from the coat and never put it back on) and is still awful in the 2016 version. Please, oh, please, North Face! Update this wonderful coat in a way that makes me want to buy it again! My first one lasted 12 years and still keeps me toasty warm! I seriously could cry at how awful the new version is. It won't have any fill in a few months judging from the amount of fill that's already come out. What a waste of money. :(

The I bought the 2016 version of the Triple C to replace the same coat I bought in 2007. The quality of the new coat is very disappointing, I had to return it. The fabic is a cheap nylon, not at all like the 2007 version which is a soft, alomost a silky fabic. Also, I've always been disappointed that the fabic is only water repellent. This hasn't changed with the newer version. So when the snow is wet, the coat gets soaked. I haven't been outside long enough for the damp to soak through the coat (luckly). The down feels very thin, even thinner than the coat I've had for 10 years! You can image that I've lost some down over the years so it's hard to justify the purchase of a new coat that feels thinner and the price tag is basically the same (although due to inflation, the newer jacket is more expensive). The only other thing I should point out is that the zipper doesn't have a flap that covers it, I think this is a pretty basic element for any winter coat and it's actually missing! I've always been happy with my original Triple C, bought it to commute on buses in Ottawa (which gets it's fair share of -30C days). I've also recently bought two other (shorter) North Face coats and I'm really happy with the quality of those jackets. Looks like I going to have to purchase the Canada Goose Majestic coat since it seems to be the only other coat on the market that comes in the same length as the Triple C.

I was extremely difficult when I opened up the present I was expecting. Material very thin, coat length nothing like my old North face long jacket, and the fit is awful! Very short waisted, and I have a long waist.
I am really upset about this jacket. Buyer beware--the product is cheaply made!

I was replacing my current due to a hole and cannot believe how disappointed I am. The snaps.......gone. There is no zipper guard on top of the zipper to block the wind. . Now you either have to walk around with the coat wide open or zip the entire thing up. Does NOT make it user friendly at all. It also seemed to have shrunk about 3" (I know I didn't grow) - why did you shorten the coat? I buy this coat for the length. I live in Chicago, wait for the train and want to be covered........not so much anymore. Out of the bag it actually seems like a cheap knockoff version of the past model. Too bad can't return it (I actually needed a coat last minute and now am stuck with this). If you have owned one in the past and need a replacement don't buy this. If you have always wanted one.....don't buy this either. It is a poor replicate of its older sister. Wait until they fix it. It's too bad really. This used to be the best coat.

I need a jacket that is more gear orintated and less fashion orintated. I rather fashion be sacrificed than durability and warmth. Functional durable gear is good for me. I think if the jacket's material was thicker, and it had more down, the hood was a little bit bigger or the shape of a hoody, the elastic that lined the hood and the bottom of the coat was annoying, and the bottom of the coat that hung lower in the back than the front made it difficult to walk. The coat would have been an ok length if it was the same length as the front all the way arround. The fit and cut of it was ok. I like the coats fit better 2 years ago but there was actually a color I liked this year.

If you live in a cold climate, this is a terrible jacket. I bought this 2 years ago and have suffered through 2 very cold winters. This coat is nowhere near warm enough. I have tried multiple layers underneath it and I'm always still freezing. The bottom half of the coat might as well not be there. I always feel like the coat ends at my waist and I had to wear snow pants all last winter just to get to work and still feel the lower half of my body. I called The North Face customer service and they said that this coat should keep me warm until about 20 degrees, but frankly, it doesn't keep me warm below 40. They said this was a warranty issue so I filled out the warranty form, paid for the shipping to send it back to The North Face, and then never heard anything. 3 weeks later they sent back my jacket with no letter, note or anything, just my rotten, insufficient coat in a box. So now I'm out $17 for shipping and I still have a useless winter coat. Take heart, if you bought this at Christmas there is still time to return it.

Insulation was too thin. The shell fabric was too soft, look cheap, and doesn't feel durable. The quality of the coat was not worthy of the price. Returned, and buy a different brand.

Will we EVER see a WARM down coat for women that is also LONG????? Over the past few years I've looked at dozens of women's down coats that fall below the thigh (below the knee is even better). Most are like this, with only 550 down fill, which isn't very warm. When they have a high down fill, they don't have much of that down. Even 850+ down fill won't keep you warm if you only put a tiny bit in the coat in order to keep the price down! Very frustrating. Again and again, I see reviews from other women that the coats aren't warm enough. Will the manufacturers ever get the message? Meanwhile, I'm stuck with a men's 850-fill parka combined with a down Shkoop skirt from Sweden. That keeps me warm, but the two pieces are inconvenient to carry while indoors.
