I was looking for a casual but cute longer coat. This ticked the boxes for warmth but not stylish enough for me.

I just purchased one of these jackets on sale in May so I will have to wait until winter to find out if it is warm but I can agree 100% with the fit. I am 5'5, 140 lbs and the medium fit perfectly - if I wanted to stand and look in the mirror. It restricted any movement in my arms/shoulders because it was tight across my back if I moved my arms. The large however is fairly big around the torso and hips now. I did buy the large because I always have layers on in the winter and will need the extra shoulder room. I am just hoping it is as warm as everyone says. I have a dog who likes to go on walks all winter long and could care less if it is zero (or below) degrees out!!
I can't make a recommendation yet. I can only speak of the fit.

Initially Ordered a size small. Fit well except the shoulders, which felt tight and restrictive. Surprising because I have average, if not narrower than average, shoulders and upper body for my height and weight. So I ordered a size medium - and that was way too big in the body. So returned both

I returned it and got the W Arctic parka instead. More stylish, less bulky and still warm. More comfortable when zipped up.

I'm 5'9", 135 lbs and bought this because I wanted a feather-filled water repellant winter parka. I ultimately got it in a Medium but I'm a little frustrated with the fit. It's tight in the shoulders, but balloons out in the torso. I wore this on a chilly day in NYC and was wearing a fitted cardigan underneath. Cold air was easily able to blow up between my legs and fill the extra space I had. The pockets are not insulated and my ungloved hands were freezing. If I got a small, the torso would be right, but the sleeves would be too short and my shoulders would be even more restricted. The hood fits well though and kept my head warm. Bummed I waited too long to return this. Will have to wait till it snows to enjoy the water-proofness.

I was planning on wearing this parka on campus next year but was kinda disappointed. I bought the parka in the "Rosin Green Slub" color. Although it looks army green online it is almost brown green in person. Not a very flattering or cute color. Would definitely not recommend the green color. The zipper was tricky to zipper. The coat did seam very warm and waterproof though. I would suggest sizing down if you want a cuter fit.

I bought couple of these before 2005. Then I bought another one in 2007 or 2008. Quality is different, very different. Not only that the fabric is thinner, not windproof like the previous fabrics, it also feels as there is less feathers/down in it. I still have old jackets, so i can still make comparison and these are the facts.

Fit was too small through the shoulders and it was just too poofy. And the fake fur was kind icky, like a cheap stuffed animal.

There's a lot I really love about this coat: It's incredibly warm, the pockets are super deep and soft (and warm!), the sleeves have thumbholes so I can avoid the gap between my glove and the cuff. I'd love to give this coat 5-stars. My challenges with the coat (and they're significant enough that I probably would've returned it, had I realized the extent of my annoyance immediately) are: 1) When zipped partially, the collar is so stiff that it pokes annoyingly into my chin; and 2) I wish the hood were detachable - it's huge and when you're not using it, it's basically like walking around with a hook on your back because anything you try to carry across your body (like a bag or purse or yoga mat) is almost impossible to get back over your head without fighting your hood. Additionally, when you're wearing the hood, it fits so tightly around your face (and I even have a little head) that you feel like Kenny from South Park - it's like you're looking out at the world from the other side of a long tunnel. I've tried to remedy the pokey collar issue by rolling the edges down and clipping them to try to mold them away from my face, with no success.
I much prefer my other triclimate North Face coat. I don't understand how one coat can fit so perfectly while another coat in the same style has such terrible design flaws.

This is a beautiful parka. I purchased the green. Living in midwest one needs a serious parka able to keep up with the bipolar weather conditions. The parka itself is pretty great. I sized up to fit sweaters and my athletic-oly lifting back and shoulders needs some extra room. There are pockets galore.
The zippers are fine, yet one has to remain perfectly still while trying to zip them up, otherwise, it is a no go, they are a little stiff.
Here is my biggest complaint...almost a $400 jacket...is unwashable. I followed the directions and the down did not puff up again, instead clumped. Called the warranty department, and followed their instructions. Still nothing. It is December in the midwest and I will, most likely, be sending a parka in (that is 1 year old) while the weather is in the negative degrees. I have never ever had this issue. I am livid!!
Buy at the risk that if you spill anything on it, you might be screwed.

I just bought this jacket online and it looks and feels really good yet the zipper is SO BAD I tried to put it on and it got stuck it was really hard to fix it!! I will go to the store and try on other jackets to see if all the zippers are the same. If they are I will return it ASAP. I'm very disappointed

Northface needs to make more room in the back to allow for more movement. My body is a medium frame with a larger chest. I had to return the coat after trying on many other coats in the store, but all needed more room in the back. Even the sales associate agreed. I loved the style and fit and would have been a happy customer if it wasn't for the tight fit that restricts movement in the back.

The feathers from its insulation constantly shed onto my clothing. I have no idea if this is a product malfunction, but this jacket is AWFUL. Seriously, DO NOT GET IT. I tried to return it and when I expressed my concerns when I went back to the North Face store, they ignored me and said I couldn't get a refund cause I already wore it. How am I supposed to know the jacket I spent 500+ including tax would be made with such bad quality.

One key description this jacket is missing is slim fit. Slim Fit doesn't apply if you are ordering an XXL jacket. Not only was it cutting in at the chest but the sleeves up at the shoulders with a t-shirt on.

I ordered two different jackets, two different sizes and they both were too small. I normally wear a small or medium but neither fit, so I had to send both back.

I'm truly disappointed with this jacket. I got a small at first and I returned it because I felt very restricted in it. I then got a medium and it was just too lose even with my big sweater underneath. There was no shape to it. Bottom line is Northface makes there jackets for twigs. I'm 128 lbs but I have bigger bust/ breast and this jacket is not ideal for ladies with big breast . I ended up getting a completely different jacket after

I brought this coat for extreme cold weather. I live in the twin cities and have to walk outside for a little less than mile to get to work. I was very excited when a brought this coat and it is very warm. I don't feel the wind!! That part of the coat is AWESOME!! However, the feathers are coming out everywhere already. I brought it early NOV 2016!! I took it back to the TNF store I brought it from and they exchanged it for a new one. The new one is doing the same thing! I love TNF product but this one didn't work out so well.

Northface needs to address the types of models they use for their jacket patterns. Numerous comments appear on forums that the shoulders and chest of their jackets are too tight. If you are forced to buy a size up, then the coat balloons at the back. I would have purchased this jacket, but it restricted movement. C'mon, Northface...women who buy your coats exercise--archery, swimming, martial arts, weight lifting. I usually wear an L or an XL, but this was was too tight.
