I have been wearing the Gel Kayano for more than 10 years. I had to quit after the 21 due to the shoe more narrow now. I keep trying with each new issue, but it's a bummer that I can no longer wear my favorite style.

I have had the Kayano 22 and Kayano 21. Should have looked at the reviews before ordering....smaller than usual toe box and hits and puts pressure on your big toe. Ordered a size larger, hope they work. I will write another review, when I receive the larger ones.

To tight in the toe box, I bought this style for 4 years and they changed it. Switched to the 2000 style

This gel kayano 23 was way too tight. I love how the gel kayano 24 has a wider tie box and the fabric is flexible. I hope they will make future models more like the 24. I wouldn’t recommend the 23, especially if you have problems with your toes already, such as ingrown toenails.

It was too narrow in the toe box even after going up a half size from my normal size with Asics gel-Kayano

I've loved all previous Gel Kayanos that I've owned. My shoe size is a solid 9 medium width, but these were way too tight in the toes and across the top of my foot. I tried running a few miles in these but they were causing so much pain in my feet, heels and calves. These are going back.

I have worn Gel-Kayanos for several years and been so pleased. These are a different shoe. Very narrow toe box by comparison. Tried two sizes -one too small and one too sloppy-- they won't work. Disappointed!

Just too small now-I’ve worn them for years and was having trouble with my toenail chipping and now I realize it’s the way the shoe slopes down on the big toe! Just ordered another color to try and uts just too narrow-even a half size up. Very sad to say good bye for now. At this price, it has to be perfect.

Terrible arch support! Cute shoes, but just not very comfortable and therefore not worth he expense.

Returning-felt way too narrow and small compared to my other Gel-Kayano shoes of the past.

Return time...can't imagine why they changed this shoe. Have gone thru several pair in last 5-6 years, ordered what looked as close as possible to my original shoe. Toe box different, narrower and less support :(

I have only worn asics in size 9 for years and am currently having trouble finding attractive ones that fit. I bought these in the gray/pink lace color and they are very attractive, but boy are they uncomfortable!!! They fit very tightly in the forefoot area and are maybe a bit too short too. I am definitely returning them. Would have tried a 9W or a 9.5, but Zappos was out of them. I am very disappointed in the selections available both by Asics and Zappos.

I read the reviews about the toe box being smaller. I ordered the shoe as I have had these for 10+years. Read reviews. They are accurate. The toe box is smaller and makes the sizing and fit off.

I needed a new pair of running shoes as I wore my old pair in the rain and ruined them. :( I read the reviews about the ASICS Gel-Kayano 23 and was concerned because lot of people said the toe box was tight. I decided to place the order and just get a half size bigger. I have a friend who is a nurse and another who is an avid runner and they both said they didn't have any troubles and loved these shoes. Well, I had troubles. The toe box was so tight, my three middle toes went numb on my right foot. These shoes were comfortable in the arches and heels, but I am returning because of the extreme discomfort in the toes.

I have been wearing Asics Gel-Kayano for years. I am so disappointed in the 23"s...so narrow. They hurt my feet. I won't buy Kayano's anymore. They look great...feel awful.

I've loved Asics Gel Kayano shoes in the past, but this new iteration (23) is no good. I ordered a 1/2 size larger than usual, since other reviewers warned me that these run small. In spite of my precautions, however, the shoe was too narrow in the toe box. At the same time, it is roomy in the heel, like it was designed for someone with rectangular feet. If I order the shoe in a wide width, it will be too wide in the heel. This is a dumb design. Time to switch to a different brand.
