i love these shoes. i have been looking and looking for a good pair of solid, well made, well constructed, support sneakers for a very long time. i wear an 8.5 and the 8.5 fit great. right out of the box i could feel the construction was good! i have bough so many brands of sneakers, trying them, but have had absolutely no luck with them - cheaply made, bad construction, no support but these.... salomon has done really well - hope they don't start cheapening how they make things. The shoe is well made, love the blue color. When i started walking in them i could feel the support they have. when I started walking up/down hills, usually shoes don't hold my feet in place and they move all over and have no support, not these. I have never had a shoe/sneaker give me so much support before. I have an extra confidence when going up and down trail hills with these shoes b/c i trust the shoe to support me. the only thing i don't like about these shoes is the shoe string. personal taste but have the draw string lace. i cut it out and put my own pair of laces in. no biggie. the other small issue i have though probably needed to keep your foot nice and snug is when you have songs on and put the shoe on, b/c the fit is tight, it pull my sock up so my toes become uncomfortable with the sock and i have to do it a few time to get it not to do that. but i found it depends on the sock... need to use one that won't give any friction when putting on the shoe. overall great shoe! great support and very well made. Hope salomon doesn't start changing their quality like most sneaker places have (nike, addidas, puma, asics... have all gone down the drain and make crap stuff now that cost a lot.) price is a bit high but well worth the shoe. Wish they made more fun colors though. Bright, colors of all kinds.

This shoe is lightweight with excellent arch support but I returned them because the cleat-like soles don't suit my needs.

First time purchase of this brand. Feels true to size and width, arch support. Wide toe box. Light in weight, breathable, seem to repel water, but not waterproof. Color (Poseidon blue) as pictured, nice dark blue. Lacing allows for adjusting tightness, soles nice for traction on sidewalks and lake bank paths.

I really wanted to make these sneakers work. I loved the look and overall feel, except for the arch. I was an over pronator with a high arch. I worked hard to correct this and my arch has come down. The arch support is significant enough on me it felt like a bar was digging into my arch. Sadly it looks like from other consumers the arch support is the same.

I loved these shoes and would continue to love these shoes except a hole developed in the pinkie toe area of each shoe at about 7 months. The non-fabric accents should have extended a little bit more over that area. They lasted 3 months longer than my best Merrells.

Ordered these about 2-3 months ago, specifically for my Spartan Beast race in Tahoe. Just like the reviews said, they ran narrow, and fit like a glove! It's exactly what I was looking for, and comfort. These are my first pair of Salomon shoes, and definitely will not be my last. On a scale of 1-10, I give them a 9! I did wear mole skin on the inner bridges of my foot, to make sure that my feet weren't rubbing after many miles of uneven terrain.

Love the style and ease of the speed laces. This is my first pair with those style of laces. I was looking for a little more cushion in the heel and a bit more arch (I'm flatfooted) however, I wear them for 8-10 hours a day several times a week with no problems

I’m planning on wearing these for my first tough mudder race. So far they are comfortable around the house. I like the style and they have great tread on the bottom.

I have had the speedcrosses for almost a year now. I have a pair with the Goretex membrane and one without. I initially bought them for winter running to have traction in the snow without have to wear spikes. They perform unbelievably in the snow and they are the only shoe I wear in the snow. I have done very steep hiking in them without having to put on the spikes.
I loved them so much in the winter that I got a pair to wear in the summer as well. I feel more sure footed in them than I have in any other shoe. The really hold the foot in place and are very responsive.
The only downfall I have found with these shoes is that they don't do as well on wet granite slab than other salomon shoes I wear. As a climber I am used to being on rock and very familiar with techniques for how to best ascend slabs and I feel that the speedcrosses don't perform as well on wet granite as I would expect.
Over all these are a great shoe and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a comfortable and technical shoe!

These are beautiful shoes with a lot to love. As an engineer, I was really impressed with the quality and the design. I have a narrow foot with medium arches, and I loved how close this shoe hugged my foot. But I have to return them because the heel had a very heavy, stiff feel and it kept slipping. I couldn't get the laces tightened to where the heel was snug without also being too tight around the rest of my foot. I don't know if that is because of the lacing system or the shoe or something else. Anyway, I am worried about the stiffness and they are the first pair I tried, so I decided to return. I will say that I think if I were doing hardcore rocky trail running, I would want that heavier, stiffer heel, but I am mostly doing dirt, gravel, and concrete. (If anyone has these same issues, you might try the Saucony Peregrine 8. I found those to be similar quality and design, but more flexible and responsive.)

Sadly, I have to return these- I really wanted a pair of hiking shoes that were more aggressive than the XMission3 I’ve been wearing but these were just too narrow, and I’ve never had to wear wide widths. I read the reviews that said they ran narrow but loved them so much I had to see for myself. The search continues

Speedcross 4 in a wide is a dream come true. I have backpacked in the Speedcross for two years now. The tread is the best I've ever used. Mountain-goat good. In spite of the uncomfortable narrowness (for my feet), I stuck with them because I prefer sore feet to sliding down steep spots. Now my toes have enough room. wonderful.
Please make this shoe next year with regular laces! Grit gets in the plastic toggle, and it's hard to loosen it to get shoes off -- or hard to tighten. Very bad in the backcountry. I ream out the eyelets and put in regular laces, but what a pain. Real laces will add the fifth star.

Fit well, nice looking and not as narrow as some reviews had me concerned about. I don't have a wide foot but do have bunions, but this shoe was fine for me in a medium width. It does fit snugly but comfortably. It's a great, lightweight shoe if a bit pricey.

I don’t love the laces, they don’t seem to work once they get a little dusty from being on the trail. But in terms of comfort these shoes are great.

Love, love, love these shoes. Have just bought 6th pair. Love the easy lacing system, fit (I have very low arch), and different colours that Salomon always brings out. They are fantastic on the technical trails where I live. It took a little getting used to the lugs which wrap all the way to the front of the foot but absolutely no problem after a short while. Would give 5 stars but the cushioning seems to wear out pretty quickly. Wish I could buy replacements as everything else is still totally fine.

Can you gym in this shoe? I bought me a pair but don't want to use them at the gym if it's not made for those type of uses.

Very comfortable shoe! I run trails about 4 days a week and there were certain areas that no matter what shoe I wore, I would slip or loose traction and I don't get that with this shoe. The grip and comfort is incredible. The only reason it got 4 stars, instead of 5, is because it is labelled water resistant and my feet get wet if I run when it rains. I guess the water resistant is only for wet grass and gravel???
