I started with the Atom line up but the Protons are where I should have started. The Protons breathe whereas, the Atoms really don't as a mid layer. I am a muscular 5'9", 190lbs, 44" chest and wear a Large size in both the LT and FL. The Protons fit narrower than the Large size in the Atom line up. Especially through the torso which is better for layering. I bought the Proton LT first and layered it under my Alpha SV & Sidewinder. Under these shells, the temperature range that you can hit with the Proton LT are sizable. Skiing this set up with a thin base layer affords you -3 degrees C. to -20 degrees C. easily. I did the Vallee Blanche in Chamonix at -35 and I was still smiling whilst active. Using the Proton LT under my Northface WB ski school jacket proves to be too warm. Hence, why I purchased the Proton FL. The Proton FL is perfect under my Alpha SV or Sidewinder in -1 degrees C. to -9 degrees C. and perfect for 90% of the time under my Northface WB ski school jacket. The FL is definitely thinner and layers tremendously well under a semi-insulated outer layer. Depends on your set up, but both are outstanding!

I bought this jacket to replace an older other brand jacket that I used in winter conditions. I already had an Atom LT jacket and was impressed with that so purchased this one. It is greatly warmer than the Atom LT so couldn't use all year, but for the other three seasons works great. It's warm but not too bulky and therefore fits well into a range of layering systems.

I have always wanted to buy the Atom LT or SL jacket but never did for fear that I would rip it to shreds. It is a great piece but I am far to rough on gear to have something like that. The new Proton line is the answer to anyone requiring durability in what they wear. This is my new favorite, I recommend this to anyone!

I really enjoy this jacket. I own a few Atom LTs but I was looking for a little different style. Proton LT fits the bill. It's built in typical Arc'teryx quality and the pocket layout is user friendly. I admittedly have an Arc'teryx addiction, but I'm never disappointed!

I wanted a jacket to replace several insulated jackets and wind resistant jackets. I have found this does well as an outer layer in mild winds, and a mid layer in high winds or wet weather. It also packs down very well. The fabric is soft and comfortable, the hood fits well with and without a helmet, the sleeves are long. I am 6'-3" and 185 lbs, and a medium fits me perfectly.

Purchased the Proton LT in Labyrinth. The color is great and tidy. Otherwise, the jacket itself is an amazing mid layer on its own or under a shell. The breathability of the jacket is fantastic. I've done some uphill approaches to some cliffs and gorges and haven't overheated. It is so air permeability is very evident when a breeze rolls through. In milder temps, it is a great stand-alone jacket and it would even perform better when worn under a shell. The trim fit and slightly longer hem are great, offering excellent coverage with a good silhouette without being restricting for movement. The jacket is amazing and would definitely recommend it overall.

Best jacket ever. It breathes with activity, it regulates temperature very well, and keep me warm in spring, fall, and even summer nights. Can wear it around or during activity. Much more breathable than the Atom line.

The shipping information was accurate and the delivery was quick. In three business days, I had my jacket delivered. The jacket was not tight and not bulky, yet it kept me comfortably warm without overheating or feeling cold in moderate temperatures. I have not tested the jacket in freezing/snow temperatures, but I expect this jacket to be worn as a layer not single winter jacket. It is very light and comfortable and I cannot wait to put it through a test of outdoor adventures.

Just curious as to why Arcteryx discontinued the AR version of the Proton? I have both the Atom in the Lt and AR version. The LT is good, but not overly warm. The AR is super warm, but doesn't breathe. I was considering the Proton LT, however I am concerned that it won't be warm enough and was leaning toward the AR. Any Proton AR's kicking around? They're hard to find which leads me to believe it was a great jacked that was discontinued for some strange reason?

Great jacket for layering under a shell while skiing or other cold weather activity. Good either standalone in dry, cool weather or as a mid-layer in colder/wetter setting. Very comfortable with similar feel to Atom LT but with stronger outer material and more breathable. I recently ordered the recently released, revised model which I've only used a few times but seems like incremental improvements over the previous model which I have used for a few years. Fits great and looks great. New labyrinth color is great also.

My favorite piece of clothing. Period. With a larger hood it'd be perfect. I'm 180cm and 70kg with a slim athletic build and the 2018 M fits me perfectly. I can wear it with just a t-shirt as well as with a base layer, a thin fleece jacket and a Proton/Atom LT vest beneath. It really is hard to overheat in it. I'm amazed every time I put it on after having worn something else of equal warmth. It excels when worn as a midlayer under a hardshell jacket and traps heat and breathes wonderfully. Can't really rely on it to keep me warm when it's windy out and I'm using it as an outer layer though, because the wind blows right through it (which is to be expected for anything that breathes this well). I use it in Sweden and abroad all year, both summer and winter, both trekking, climbing and commuting and around town. Incredibly versatile. The only drawback is that the hood is too small. I can't wear it comfortably with anything but my slimmest beanie, especially with a backpack on and with my hands in the pockets. This is a problem wintertime and when needing to use a helmet (which is quite often), in which case the hood has to go under the helmet (problematic and potentially dangerous). If I lost my Proton LT jacket I'd buy a new one without hesitating or looking at its competitors. Please fix the hood, though.

Stuck with this after comparing to an Atom LT. This piece is a bit heavier but also feels more substantial and warm. In spite of the air permeability I feel like it stands up to wind well (though certainly not a windbreaker or Gore WindStopper). I think the face fabric also seems tougher then the Atom, more of a soft shell material. The DWR is impressive even in moderate rain, and being synthetic fill if it does wet out eventually it should stay warm anyway. Haven't used yet in below freezing temps as in the PNW this much insulation is overkill for a ski day. When hiking it does indeed breathe very well, and just walking around able to leave on moving from outdoors to indoors without burning up. Overall very impressed and as always with Arc'teryx happy with the fit. Only con is the elastic cuffs aren't that tight on my small wrists, but do keep the slightly long sleeves from riding up.

Despite some slightly critical comments I made about the Proton LT Hoody (filed with reviews of the Proton AR as 'Random Insulation Loss') this jacket is top notch in terms of performance with its fine balance of warmth, breathability and low bulk. The Proton LT is very well made and works best between 25F and 45F for fast walking and trekking. Moisture build up is not a problem as it dissapates while the jacket keeps me warm and dry. I combine a light base layer and fleece jacket with the Proton on cool days, and the same + merino wool or Proton Vest with the jacket on much colder days. Compared to an Atom LT this jacket -- itself a great garment--the Proton LT Hoody is much better for all-around performance, especially in regards to moisture management and warmth.

Extrmement content de cet achat, bien plus performant que ma vieille polaire. La veste est la fois lgre et chaude, les finitions son impeccables. Passe trs bien sous mon hardshell. Un seul inconvnient: les boucles des fermetures claires un peu trop petites.

This jacket is incredibly lightweight and warm. I use this jacket for mountain biking and everyday wear. On colder days, 0C to -10C, I use my atom LT as a base layer with my proton hoodie on top. I have four Arcyeryx jackets, my Camosun for temps colder than -15C and windy, my Gamma MX, which I use with the Atom Lt in cooler weather, my Atom Lt (I use for everything) and now my new Proton LT. I'm so happy with Arcyeryx. I have had no issues with any of my jackets. The price is a little bit of a hit on the wallet, but in feel I'm getting so much value and quality for the sticker price. I can't stop bragging about these products, but at the same time I like the fact that not everyone has one of these. The best part of this company, is that its products are designed and tested by Canadians for the world to enjoy.

I have had a Atom LT for a long time and got the Proton LT this past March in Rossland. It's warm, even when you've been sweating in it on the skintrack then stop to rip your skins off.

Finally a mid-layer that is versatile to wear skiing or off slope. Really like the light weight and great fit. The hood provides precise control of heat loss/retention. I love it!!

The proton lt is my go to midlayer for skiing. I layer the following way generally, and add or subtract based on the weather- Quick dry base layer (phase sl or the likes), delta lt or delta ar as a first level of insulation, proton lt, shell. I am also so pleased by my ability to feel both insulated but also not as if I am just accumulating sweat and overheating under my shell. Great garment.

I've been using the Proton LT Hoody for over a year now and have been extremely happy. It has accompanied me on numerous alpine backpacking trips, day long multipitch adventures, to short cragging climbs. This mid layer is so versatile and does not make me overheat while climbing or hiking. It's collapsible enough where I can stuff it into my backpack and sometimes forget its even there due to how lightweight it is. Its since replaced my patagonia nanopuff and wear it on a daily basis to the office and around town.
