I bought my last back country Arc'Teryx jacket about 8 years ago. After 8 rough years, it finally came time for a replacement. I couldn't believe it lasted so long, so Arc'Teryx was my only consideration for a replacement. (I'm rough on my gear, hunting, packing, adventuring, mostly in Alaska). I was a bit surprised to see the prices, but bit the bullet nonetheless. As they say, cheap stuff ain't good, good stuff ain't cheap. The Beta SV has not disappointed. It's even more heavy duty than my last jacket, thicker GoreTex (pro) and tougher zippers and stitching/taping. Despite the heavier/tougher construction, it wear super light and comfortable and is even more breathable than my last jacket. Definitely an upgrade. So far it's kept me dry and warm in very not dry or warm environments. It's great as my only layer or with base layers. The pit vents are big, making them very functional and the pocket layout and dimensions are perfect. The two internal pockets are great too! The hood is MASSIVE, and when I'm wearing a helmet it doesn't tug or restrict my movement at all. When I'm not wearing a helmet the two adjusting cords work great, reshaping the hood to fit well. This jacket is great! I'd buy it again for sure. And I'm guessing I will, in the next 8-10 years!

A great jacket but an oliv color is missing. If you are interested in wildlife photography or observing wild animals you want to have a jacket colour to blend in to nature. A dull, not bright olive like the Anecdote color.

I bought Beta SV in Black in Winter, 2019. As a rule of thumb to purchase Arc'teryx products, I always purchase Medium size if the fitting is Normal fitting and purchase Large size if the fitting is Trim fitting. My body size is Height: 5ft 9in, Waist: 32in, Chest: 41in, Arm length from the arm pit to the wrist: 20in, Circumference of arm pit: 21in. The fitting of Beta SV in Medium is just right. I wear T-shirt, icebreaker 260 baselayer in Large, Northface Denali fleece in Medium under Beta SV in Medium in Winter in Canada, -20C to go to work (I need to walk for only 7mins). I don't feel cold at all.

I live on the east coast but ski out west every year. This jacket is great in both environments. Very breathable and vents well for east coast weather. I wore this jacket at Big Sky Montana with morning temps in single digits and high winds. Plenty of room for layering and was exceptional in blocking the high winds. Highly recommend this jacket no matter where you live.

I bought this a year and a half ago for a trip to Germany at Christmas. Kept me dry, and the pit zips made sure I didn't overheat. Now I've been using it for winter in Manitoba with a few other choice layers.

I purchased a SV finally for this ski season. I have been missing out. Easily the best and most versatile shell I have ever had. I am 182 around 6'1 and weigh 82 kilos. I went with a medium as I do wear the shell alone when it rains. Fits me perfect. A little on the shorter end for skiing, no powder skirt, but works wonders.

I have been wearing this for general outdoor activities over the past few months and some ice climbing. I am super impressed with its burliness and general comfortable fit. I'll be using it for years to come I can see, and it will serve me well in the alpine.

I bought an Arc'teryx jacket 15 years ago for a trip to Peru. It served me perfectly for 15 years, still looked brand new and, unfortunately, lost its waterproof qualities at the 15 year mark. Sadly, they don't still make the exact model, but this was the closest I could find. It has the right pockets for my cell phone, my ski pass and my hands. The sleeves are way too long but a competent tailor fixed them for me. You will love the jacket.

I live in MT and enjoy severe winter weather. I use this for ski touring and mountain activities in very windy blustery conditions. Pit zips are nice on the ascents, no mesh, however. Pockets are great, including while wearing a pack with a waist strap. Coat gets fairly wrinkled if compressed in a pack and arrived slightly wrinkled but it works itself out quickly. Loudest Arcteryx coat i've owned, due to the gortex pro material i assume but not excessive. Not a particularly warm jacket, sizes perfect for a mid layer, however. I bought a medium, I'm 6'0" and about 180 lbs, length and arms perfect, enough room for 2 base layers, bibs, and a mid layer without feeling restricted.

I have had several Arcteryx shell jackets through the last decade, several Alpha SV, FL, Theta AR, the old Beta and the Rush jacket. The things i like the most with the new Beta SV: napoleon pocket (front chest pocket), longer in the front, a bit lower at the chin and all N80d denier outer fabric all in one jacket!!! I got the Kingfisher color and not regretting, very nice color. This jacket does it all from off trail hiking to city walks. I am 181cm and currently 95kg, fits me well, i can easily fit the Atom AR under the shell, still good freedom of movement, not optimal for skiing but L was too large for me though. This jackets sizing is made for you to have layers and still have optimal freedom of movement. For my body type, 85kg is the match weight for this jacket in size M.

Such a great piece of gear. The jacket is very versatile, I use it for just about any and all outdoor activities year round. When paired with a mid layer like the Atom AR, and a base layer merino wool, its perfect for very cold activities like Snowmobiling. I have the Stinger Pant as well for all the same. When paired with only a t-shirt (pit zips open), its perfect for a rain downpour while hiking trails in Kauai, HI. I chose the Beta SV over the Alpha SV only for the location of external hand pockets. I don't do any activities involving a harness so, no issues with the hand pocket placement with the Beta SV. Overall comfort and mobility is top tier. I've had other pieces from other manufacturers and have not had the level of movement, comfort, and quality as I do with Arc'teryx products.

Recently acquired one of these. Sizing feels great for me - I'm between a medium and a large, and went for a medium, which has been spot on. The cut is generous but in a good way - there's plenty of room for multiple layers underdeath. I like the slightly longer cut on this jacket - running just a little below the hip, it feels more protective, and comfortably covers other layers. The fabric feels thick and durable but isn't heavy. I find it nowhere near as noisy as some reviews have made out. Feels like it'll serve me well for a good few years of hiking, outdoor activities, and just generally being outdoors in northern England when it's hammering it down.

I purchased this piece and have never been more happy. Living in the PNW I grew accustomed to replacing my rain jackets one every two-three years. I wanted to break to the cycle and chose to invest in the best. Lightweight and a sliming design makes the jacket usable for every season. Provides enough room to layer but trim enough to not appear boxy. Would highly recommend and definitely worth the price

This is my umpteenth Arc'teryx hard shell that I own, and it doesn't disappoint! The features are great, in particular the expandable drop-in pocket on the inside right. Long hem, outstanding hood (which keeps improving with each generation of each jacket). I can wholeheartedly recommend this jacket!
