My first Arcteryx jacket held out 10 years of hard usage. The latest purchase BetaSV in 2019 is a disapointment. The outside looks like new and it withstands water OK but its falling apart. Luckily I have not made any week long adventures in severe weather conditions, that could have ended bad. I mainly do overday tours kayaking or walking with a coffee-break style backpack or a weekend back country skiing or alpine skiing and I am also not an elite athlete of any kind so just gentle normal use. After 3 years the taped seams delaminated at 1 pocket. A hood regulation button came loose recently and and yesterday the zipper stopped working totally. Zipper is supplied by YKK so why not chose their best quality for a jacket with this price tag? I am not an overweight person so there is a lot of space for the fabric to get a releave. I will contact repair but not sure it will be worth it. Going to Norway in 2 days and have no jacket.

Overall if you have the money to splurge on a technical rain jacket that makes you look like a rockstar but is just "meh" in rain, then this jacket is for you. I must warn you that you have to religiously wash the jacket to keep it in tip-top shape like how you received it, which can be very frustrating and tedious. The seams around the front chest pocket and where it meets the full-length zipper is a place where delimitation is waiting to happen. I have only had slight issues with the jacket so far, BUT there are many places where I can see more significant problems like delimitation happening. I wore my everyday backpack in some LIGHT RAIN right when I first got the jacket, and after 30 minutes, the water started to soak through the shoulder area to my other layers. In short, it's a very fragile jacket with a hefty price tag that requires the attention of a small child. I know I am being harsh in critiquing this jacket but I have seen the same issues in some other models and when you are paying so much, it should preform above and beyond.

This jacket kept me dry all the time - it's light, strong and very breathable. I washed it a lot, followed the explainer video's but that didn't help me with the early de-lamination of the product. (after 2 years) Not worth the price!

I've had this jacket for a few months now, and no matter how much I try to like it, the performance is weak. I'm a bike courier in Portland, OR and bought this to "stay dry in severe wet weather conditions" and it's worthless if you wear a backpack. The dwr rubs off basically after taking off my backpack a handful of times. Last night I washed the jacket with Granger's, reproofed with Nikwax dwr, and within an hour and half into my shift today in *light to moderate* rain my shoulders and back were completely soaked through. This happens constantly, and I know it's not just clammy because the jacket won't bead water right where my shoulder straps sit after only a few hours of use. It's a beautiful jacket and I want to love it, but worthless if I ever want to stay dry for more than an hour at a time.

Seems to have most of the features i wanted. pt zips ect. Would have been nice if the hood had a zip away pocket for when its not in use. This jacket has been out-soured to china and as a result should be about half the price. Alpha AS is still made in Canada and is better, for only $100 more. Either way if you shop around for similar products you see you are mostly paying for the name when it comes to Arcteryx.

Material is great as always. Nice and light while still being bomber. Runs quite a bit larger than past Alpha and Beta lines I've owned. BUT, the major flaw that makes me wish I had gone with another jacket is the hood tightening mechanisms. They moved away from the traditional quick locks to a new, weaker mechanism that doesn't hold. When you move your head, the drawstrings loosen and snow/rain can enter the jacket. Major problem. Still working with customer support on it since I bought it in the spring (now past return window) and hadn't really tested it in a storm until this fall.

product design is good except Gore-Tex delaminates within 2-3 seasons of light use, we purposely choose SV model hope it would last longer, but it still delaminates despite follow recommended washing guidelines.

Great jacket, very dry, bombproof even. Then it delaminated and despite caring for it the warranty was not honoured. Extremely frustrating and not what i have come to expect from premium brand such as this. This makes it overpriced by quite some margin in my view.
