This shoe is the only shoe for me. It has always worked. If NB tweaks this shoe in any way, I can't tell it. I love the v4. I bought this shoe a year ago and it works for me. I have chondromalacia in both knees and a little arthritis from years of running and loving every minute of it. I'm now power walking 3 miles per day and these shoes provide excellent support. I wear custom sports orthotics and I have a hard time finding the right shoe to fit the orthotics. My regular shoe size is a 7.5 but my NB shoe is a 9D to fit the orthotics. It fits perfect. Because of the dark outline of the shoe, my foot does not look wide. Excellent shoe for me.

This shoe is the best shoe I've ever worn. It supports my foot and ankle and I feel like I am gripping the ground. Supports my foot and ankle. Great arch support. Extremely comfortable. This is the only shoe for me!

I really wanted to like this shoe. It is a nice looking shoe and VERY comfortable. But with my big feet ( size 10 women's) they were just too clunky. I sent them back.

I just purchased my 990s last weekend in black and I love them! Both my parents have plantar fasciitis, so naturally I began having problems with my feet at an early age. When I was first fitted I was given a pair of 860s and a pair of 1260s, but I felt like I still needed some more stability. Then they brought out the 990s, and I have to say these shoes offer the best support and are super comfortable. I also purchased the Motion Control Insoles which offer great arch support for my flat feet. Needless to say I am a very happy camper with these shoes. The only thing I would like to suggest is to add more colors to this series. I purchased black because it will go with almost anything, but I would like to purchase more "hip" color combinations like the ones offered in the 860 and 1260 series.

I have bunions and custom orthotics and am thrilled that these shoes FIT! The 6.5 D is a great fit for me....in other shoes I would need to go up either a half or a full size.

This shoe is a staple in my closet. It runs true to width (I wear a 6.5AA and with an insert the 7.5AA fits like a glove). I have tried many other New Balance sneakers and I always end up back to this one. Highly recommend it!

Love, love, love these sneakers!! A friend told me about New Balance and I'm so glad. Got fitted for the 990, been wearing them for 8 years now. Would not wear anything else! Great support, super comfortable for running.

LOVE LOVE these shoes. I wear an 11N and have a hard time finding shoes that are true to size. Extremely comfortable and good support with plenty of toe room.

I love these shoes! At first I balked because they look like something that my granny would wear, but I got over that very quickly. These are the only athletic shoes I've ever owned that don't make some part of my body hurt. My orthotics (one with a 1/4 inch lift) fit snuggly into the shoe and my heals don't slip out. This particular shoe is made in the USA, so that makes me love them even more!

Gratulation casual shoes that you can wake in, run in or stand around all day in. Very supportive and firm, so firm I found I needed to replace the insole with a gel insole to absorb some shock and protect my knees. They are now perfect and are cute with jeans.

I love this shoe. What more can I say. I've got two pair now and will order another soon. I've always had "hard to fit feet" and these are great. Keeping my fingers crossed New Balance doesn't decide to discontinue, ever. Half size up, but that's pretty standard with NB. Zappos is a great company for ordering, receiving your product quickly, and return super easy too.

I walk 10,000-12,000 steps/day 365 as I continue on my weight loss journey. NB990 has been my only walking shoes during this time. This purchase is #5 for my walk-a-thon. They are as comfortable as cozy slippers and my podiatrist insists that the support is especially important for my wide, very-high arch feet.
They look "clunky" when in the box, but sharp on my feet!
