I'll start by saying I've never received so many compliments on footwear in my life. These are some very stylish boots and probably deserve the sticker price. That being said, they take quite a bit of time to break in (a couple weeks in my experience) and they have zero insulation, so they won't keep your feet warm in sub-zero temps.

These are great, high quality boots that I plan on keeping for years to come. I normally wear a 9.5 and had to drop to an 8. They take some breaking in but once they are, you won't be able to taken them off.

These boots are the best. Spend the money folks. I waffled on these guys for a while and it was a mistake. I usually wear a 13. Per other reviews I purchased a 12. The felt a little snug width wise but after about a week and a good oiling they fit like a glove. I've had them a few weeks now but they are getting broke in to the point they are perfect. The materials are all high quality. These boots will last. Not to mention everyone tells me how nice they are, who doesn't like that. Some reviewers mention the laces are not long enough. I had trouble the first couple times when they were stiff but after I piled them and wore them a couple times they lace all the way up no trouble. Buy these boots. Just do it.

Great color. Superb construction. Lug sole is excellent for rain/snow regions. Get half to full size smaller than you usually wear. Love these!

The best boots I have ever owned, hands down.
Made in the USA, excellent attention to detail, and high quality materials. Worth every penny.
They definitely run large, so order at least a half or full size smaller than your normal size.

Beautiful boots I have gotten several complements in the office.I have only been wearing them for a week know.little to no break in time. It's true out of the box the laces are too short.

The leather and look of the boot are great with the color very similar to what is shown on the website. Right out of the box they were comfortable but a little stiff, something that worked out very quickly over a few days of wearing them around the house and in the field. The fact that they run large to size partially worked to my advantage since I need to wear a substantial orthotic in one shoe. On the other hand, my "normal" foot would be more comfortable in a smaller size. I come to these Red Wings from over 40 years of wearing boots with a western heel, so getting used to a low block heel took some time. I think that a version of the Heritage Iron Ranger with a low, underslung western heel would look sharp, and attract folks who are used to wearing packers. The style and durability of these boots allow them to function as both work boots and casual wear.

This is an update to my last review. I want to love these boots, they look great, are really well made, heavy leather etc. Just good old school boots. Problem is that there was a extra fold of material in the right boot right where the tongue meets the shoe upper. I can't break it in at that point and it's painful enough that I can't wear them. Brought them to a Red Wing store and the owner confirmed that there's a problem with this pair. Wore them too much for Zappos to take back so I'm trying to deal with Redwing. Way too much money to have this problem. Next time I'll buy from the local store to avoid this. Oh well.

I got these because I kept wearing out other boots and wanted one with a replaceable heel and sole. These are beautiful boots, featuring heavy leather, great stitching. I am irritated that the laces were too short but that is an easy fix. The biggest issue is that they just are not that comfortable yet. I wear my boots a lot so I need a comfortable pair and my last Chippewa boots were instantly comfortable. I have worn these for many hours, lots of walking figuring that it is a break in issue but not yet. I will update if this changes but for this kind of money I want them to be right.

Red Wing Boots is a staple of american design and manufacturing. All their boot models are great in their own way. These Iron Rangers are no different. The same overall design as its counterpart with the rubber/cork sole but these have the vibram sole. Having tried both the standard sole and this side by side, I would say that these feel a little move comfortable from the start just because I was more familiar with the sole design. The rubber/cork sole feel good but I could tell it would require more of a break in period before achieving the level of comfort that these had almost immediately. With that said, YES, you still need to break in the boots and leather because it is thicker than most are used to (for those only experienced with Timberland and similar boots). I have a number of Red Wing boots and each, on average, takes about a week or two of wear to break in to the point where I'm comfortable all day. Afterwords its a phenomenal feeling boot which I can wear for 12+ hours and not complain at all. So, be forewarned, you will need a couple wears to break them in before fully comfortable. After wearing these for a bit, invest in some neutral shoe polish and maybe some mink oil to keep the beautiful color vibrant and looking good. These can be worn with any combination of clothing that you would wear brown boots with (just in case you're wondering).

Red Wing makes a great boot hands down.
Tough, supportive, great look.
The Vibram sole really adds something to the traditional Iron Ranger. Super comfortable from the moment I slide them on. They need their break in period but these are in heavy rotation with my other boots immediately. Excellent boots for all your needs whether it is work or just going out.
