I guess I just have to give up on these. I wore a pair for 10 years until the cat peed on them, at which point I decided to let them go. I wanted to replace them but Im not able to get a matched pair. After going through 8 different pairs, each has had noticeable variation in size between the left and right boot, different length toecaps between the left and right, etc. I'm not being particularly picky, but I would like for my pair of boots to be more or less of equal length and width. I'm bummed but it's too much money to spend on mismatched boots.

Nothing wrong with these boots, excellent design, great quality, and built to last, but I returned them. With winter here combined with a ailing foot issue from an old injury, I didn't want to deal with breaking in the leather over the next few months. I might try the same pair again in the spring when the leather is more pliable.

Hard as a rock. Apparently, they break in eventually, but I don't see how they could ever be comfortable. Returned.

Break-in can be a bit rough. Double socks and the Red Wing oil helps a lot. I've just passed the year mark, wearing these every work day as a construction Project Manager. They hold up well, and look good in meetings.

Good enough to fit my Brannock size at the ball of the foot where the boots flexes. Almost an inch of extra length at the toe. Some people will go down a half size. This is the version with the Vibram mini lug soles. Not the neo-cork nitrile.

They fit as expected, 1/2 size larger than sneakers. Leather quality is excellent, you can smell them as soon as the box opens. The leather is thick and beautiful. Just know there’s little to know shock absorption but that’s will pretty much all heritage boots.
Expect a break in period, as you should with all the heritage boots. I personally always go with 1/2 size smaller but if you have wide feet go wide (if available) true to size if wide isn’t available.
Once broken in you’ll love them and will reach for them before any sneaker you have.

These were unacceptable quality. It looked like there was glue on them around the seams and they were scuffed beyond belief. Very disappointed with this purchase. Returned.

These were in terrible condition. Scuffed everywhere. It also looked like they were glued in some places? Wondering if these were even authentic. Ordered from RedWing instead..very disappointing condition for a Christmas gift.

6 months in wearing these every day and all day. Surprisingly easy break in; they shrink in the loose spots, and stretch in the tight ones. Not a lot of cushion on the footbed, but they get more comfy everyday. Now that I'm used to them they're quickly approaching slippper-level comfort. Best boots I've ever worn

The quality of these boots surpasses any boots I have had in the past. Break in will take time due to the type of construction, but that is expected. Overall very happy

Definately a high quality boot. Since the soles extend 1/4" on each side, thus 1/2" is lost in width, it is recommended that a normal M width must be ordered in a Wide width.

Took me a while to realize this. One of the heels is much larger than the other, see picturs. Definitely an error from the factory. If I wanted second quality boots I would have bought second quality boots and saved $. Everything else is fine.

I bought these bolts back in 2021 and I still love them. They are super comfortable and look great even with my custom shoe inserts. Solid pair of boots.

I bought a side 11D and both size and width felt true. This is my 9th pair of Red Wing Heritage boots and oxfords and I am very satisfied with the style and quality of the Red Wing Iron Rangers. Also, break in was easy. It took me only two days of walking to break them in, maybe three miles of so on asphalt. My only complaint is unlike their other Heritage footwear, Iron Rangers aren't built with a midsole, leather or otherwise, which I prefer. This is also odd because Iron Rangers are Red Wings most expensive boots. But I plan to have them resoled sooner rather than later with a thick leather midsole and a 360 degree leather storm/split welting for increased stability and durability.

Like others have said, after the break-in these boots are extremely comfortable. And they look fantastic. But before break-in they are almost unwearable. Also, not much arch support so here’s a few tips to make them break in quicker and provide more support:
1. Oil the boot with quality boot wax (I really like Obenauf's Heavy Duty LP). Note boot color will get darker but ages away after a while.
2. Get a pair of Surefoot Blue inserts to provide much needed support.
3. Have a cobbler or a shoe stretcher stretch out the width and top of boot after it’s waxed
4. Wear thin socks at first until they are broken in
With the above, after 3 short breakin periods of a few hours each, boots are extremely comfortable. My favorite casual work boots I’ve owned.

These are a difficult boot to fit. Going 1/2 down from measured, gets me close. But these run very narrow for me. So, if I choose the size that's 1/2 down, I would be pushing over the welt. If I pick a size higher, the width is better but the length is too long and I'm slipping. This is a tough one to get right. Maybe it's just my foot, but I'm in between sizes, and I'm not going to go through a ridiculously difficult break in to walk over the side of the boot.

This is my 2nd pair of RW Iron Rangers. First pair were Amber and this new pair is copper. As with all Red Wing Heritage boots they need to be worked in over several weeks. As for sizing, the correct sizing per the Red Wing store is one full size smaller than the Brannock size of your larger foot. Also, if you dont want the copper leather to darken, then the ONLY leather cream that will not darken your boots is the Red Wing Leather Cream (that exact name). Hope that helps.

Suggested to size down a full size. Didn't believe it so went down 1/2. Returned for a 1/2 size small and sure enough, perfect fit!
Not much arch support, but very supportive.
Stiff at first, but that was expected. Worn around the house for almost a week and every day they are getting better and better. I believe in another week they will be perfect. Old school, break them in and you will love them!
I ordered a set of THIN leather insoles from Amazon and they could use just a bit more cushioning. Again, one broken in I think they will be best boots ever.
Also, heavier, than most "modern" boots, but I believe will pay off in many years of wear.
Remains to be seen if $350 for a pair of boots is worth it, but seems good after a week.

Order a half size down and be ready for a fairly serious break in time. The leather is superior quality and the style is the classic American look that you want.

Extremely comfortable and fit like a glove. Well made and worth every penny. I’ve gotten multiple compliments from people on them and I haven’t had them very long. I’ll never purchase them again because these are going to last me a lifetime. From a financial perspective they are one of the best investments I’ve ever made. NEVER GO CHEAP ON YOUR FEET!
