The shoes work great on hard court. The fit is a alot tighter at the toes that others shoes I tried on at the New Balance store. I bought these from New Balance website as they were not available in store. I am hoping they will stretch out some with use as they are uncomfortable now.

I ordered a pair of 786 but they had a defect so I returned them and was given a $75 credit . I then ordered a pair of 1006 in the same size , but they were too long . I was getting frustrated. I then emailed my concerns and was promptly reissued the credit applied to my new order and it was shipped the next day.

The fit and looks of this shoe are exactly what I was looking for. The only draw back is the toe drag area is not as high as I wish it were. Other wise these are the best true Tennis shoe I've worn in many years. I ware these now playing Pickleball and they're saving me and my old feet. Love the fit.

Comfortable shoe for the first hour plus of play but then seemed too narrow for my 9.5 4E feet. Suspect part of the problem is that the removable footbed liner is nice and thick but sized for 9.5, 10 and 10.5 shoes. One size doesn't fit all. I trimmed the footbed liner a bit narrower with a pair of scissor in the toe box area and will give that a try. Otherwise the shoe is comfortable but a bit heavier than I thought it would be. The rubber part of the upper is not as white as the mesh and looks like it has yellowed with age but they are brand new. I imagine this color difference will increase with age. If New Balance can't match colors then better to go with contrasting colors.
I'd also recommend:
Because of wide foot I am limited to New Balance and Asics. Wish that Nike made wide shoes.

I have been wearing the 806 tennis shoe for years and I still like them alot but they tend to be a heavier shoe and I was looking for a similar comfortable shoe that was a little lighter for play on HarTru courts. The 1006 is that shoe. looks to be well made and comfortable. Looking forward to wearing it this winter in Florida.

I play pickleball 3-5 times per week. The shoe wears well and provides good traction. My only complaint is that the shoe runs small and has a small toe box. I have a high arch and wear 4E shoes and the toe box is too small in which to have a full orthotic. As with all of my New Balance shoes, including my pairs of 806 and 624, each new generation of shoes appears to be getting narrower and with smaller toe boxes.

One of the few shoes that fit right out of the box. Now if they would only make a clay court shoe that fits, I would be completely satisfied.

Xcellent fit and feel. Good looks. With limited use so far, stability in lateral movement feels good. No issues with stop and start so, good traction. Only concern is preference for more toe protection. Would like to have the toe wrap over top just a bit further. I'm a right toe dragger and may see some excessive wear sooner than would like.

have worn this shoe before and like it for grip and endurance. But I thought this pair was a bit narrow at the toes; never had this problem before.

Good shoes, but I was disappointed to learn they were not made in the USA. I though all New Balance she's were domestic, but now I know otherwise.

I thought these would be a D size, but seem much bigger. I had to put a insert in them to take up some space. I don't like the one size fits all that most shoes companies use these days. People with narrow feet are out of luck.

I bought these shoes primarily for casual wear with the possibility of court use. It fits well but may be a just a bit long. The toe box could be a bit more rounded shrinking the length just a little bit. I normally wear a mens 10. As with most every shoe out there made by NB, Nike, Adidas, Asics, etc., leather is a thing of the past. I happen to like leather. It's comfortable, lasts awhile, breathes pretty well. But we are all forced to take what the shoe manufacturers give us. This shoe feels good on the foot, has some cushion to it, and a sole that looks like it will last a while. I tried the 857v2 and the 806, both court shoes... yuk! Both of them were not for me. Finally, buying a pair of shoes these days has gotten too difficult. The stores don't stock the variety available from manufacturers. So, to try different shoes, you have to order online, order 3 different styles in whole and half sizes (that means 6 pair), shipping wait time, trying on at home, hope one pair has a great fit and feel, then, ship the others back. A local store had the NB 1006 on their shelf, but they did not participate in the online NB sale. So, NB, how about your corporate team making it worthwhile for your local merchant customers to participate in the sales? It sure would be appreciated!

I use this foot to play Pickleball. It has very good traction for pivoting an moving on the court. The cushioning is good for the feet. A very nice looking shoe that doesn't show any dirt.

Pretty well made shoe, uppers are solid, bottom has a little stiffness to it but that's not bad. The built in insole is a wisp of foam and I'll see if this rides a little easier with an aftermarket. Note: I am 4E and was able to wear this after using a stretcher though it's borderline.

Unfortunately the shoes came without insoles. The return went smoothly and I have re-ordered them. The 9.5 4E size was just right.

It seems that the old method of showing the US shoe last is gone. I always had a great fit with the SL-1 on 608/623 and always fit me as a 9,5 EEEE. Now with the many of the shoes being made over seas, I need to go up a half size to 10 EEEE and this shoe is no exception. The width if fine if you use a thin sock, but the actual toe box is narrow at the front of the shoe instead of rounded as they were on the 876 shoes. Also, instead of leather supporting the eyelets and side of shoe, it is now a printed vinyl. We'll see how this hold up playing handball. Here's hoping for a few more stylish EEEE choices, even if they are custom like the retro shoes offering.

Like the shoes. have to return. Wear a size 10 1/2 extra wide. Ordered a 11 4E. Have to re order a 11.5 4E. Why are all of your shoes now more pointed toe box instead of a wider more rounded toe box?
